SaaSOps Chief Architect

$ 100k/Year  ($ 50/Hour for 40 hours of productive work per week)  Remote Position   Long-term

The SaaSOps Chief Architect will be responsible for the infrastructure architecture and operations of thousands servers and services, spread across the various clouds. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience driving infrastructure architecture to its highest state with cutting-edge technologies.

As a SaaSOps Chief Architect, you will be in charge of migrating products to the Cloud, creating automated build and deploy pipelines, improving product architecture to make it more secure and resilient and improve its overall operational agility.

As the owner for the infrastructure architecture and operations, it’s your responsibility to ensure the availability, uptime, cost optimization, and overall quality of the product match the business requirements. You will be the driver of cost and quality optimizations throughout the organization. 

We are seeking for hands-on professionals who are comfortable reverse-engineering legacy products with manual build/deploy processes, ancient dependencies, fragile architecture, weak security and lack of scalability and performance.


  • Deep dive on all outages and perform root cause analysis to improve the uptime.

  • Drive continuous product improvement.


To be considered for this position you are required to take part in a mandatory training series and tests included in our 4-week Bootcamp program.

After grading your tests, you will be eligible to take the Bootcamp which is usually held within a week of obtaining your test results. You will be paid the full-time rate for 40 hours per week for four weeks.

Once the Bootcamp tests are complete, we will be able to evaluate you for the position correctly. Bootcamp is a very tough training program, and only an average of 50% of attendees can finish it. Taking the Bootcamp doesn’t guarantee that you will be hired, but it is a requirement as part of the hiring process.

A hiring event is a scheduled online event where all our relevant testing relating to a role is conducted on the same day. Submissions received during the event are graded the following week, and successful candidates notified if they have progressed to the next round which is an online interview with a Hiring Manager.


Keep track of outages with the purpose to improve reliability over time

Conduct RCA (root cause analysis) by working with Engineering and SaaS teams to prepare, implement and measure the effectiveness of an action plan to prevent outages from happening again and improving overall uptime and quality

Enforce change management

Define monitoring needs (server, service, docker, log aggregation, alerts, etc.)

Define/ review infrastructure needs (capacity planning, backup/data integrity)

Supervise that every machine that is created meets the quality bar (i.e. monitoring, compliance, AV, automation) and complies with cost saving initiatives

Own product security (AWS SGs, Corporate DC Firewalls, Access policies to infrastructure resources). Automate security compliance and alerts

Ensure uptime the business requires

Own the technology plan for consolidation


Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering

8+ years of experience in hands-on system administration

2+ years experience of leading or mentoring other more junior SREs/devops/system administrators

1+ year experience in SaaS Ops/Tech Ops/Infrastructure Ops/DevOps

Experienced in one or more virtualization technologies: AWS EC2, Google Cloud Instances, Azure VMs, Docker, Kubernetes or VMware

Experienced with declarative configuration management and provisioning tools like Ansible, Puppet or Chef

Proficient in modern architecture stacks, SOA, relational and no-sql DBs, stateless API, caching systems, etc

Has experience with monitoring tools such as New Relic, Nagios, Zabbix, PagerDuty

Key open source contributor to Docker or other infrastructure as code projects will be considered a plus

Excellent understanding of current enterprise software technologies and development practices/tools, including virtualization, source control, build and test automation, code quality automation technologies

Has a “roll up the sleeves and get it done” attitude

Demonstrated success as a problem solver, result-oriented, self-starter

Comfortable “working virtually” with teammates and customers around the world

Good proficiency in the English language

    At Crossover we are always fostering our team to learn continuously. We understand that some Cloud certifications may help you demonstrate your knowledge and skills, but there is no particular certification required for the role of SaasOps CA.

  • What would be the priorities for a SaaSOps CA on a daily basis?

    The top drivers are uptime, cost and performance (or architectural simplicity).

  • What are the expectations on SaasOps CA during an outage?

    You have to be able to deep dive on all outages and keep track on them with the purpose to improve reliability over time. Additionally do Root Cause Analysis (RCA), prepare, implement and measure the effectiveness of an action plan to prevent outages.

  • What are the challenges to have a team of people spread across different countries and how the performance management process is conducted by Crossover?

    The main challenges are related to multiple time-zones and productivity reviews. On a weekly basis you get goals and performance reviews that accelerate your career path in this very fast paced environment.

  • What is the Crossover approach to acquire and integrate a new software company into the portfolio so aggressively?

    Before acquiring a company, we conduct 4 weeks due diligence. After the buying decision is made, we use our standard model to import the software company into Crossover centralized environment within 90 days. During this time we take whatever the company has created and re-engineer or restructure it, improving it to match our standardized model for software products.
