Do you have a telecoms IT background? Do you have the ability to analyze, research, and resolve challenges in all aspects of an IT solution being deployed in a customer environment? If yes, then this role may be for you.

We have high expectations for our software architects to implement solutions within a telecoms customer base. You will execute the integration of complex BSS architectures including internal products, already installed applications, and other interfaces. You will also provide support in the configuration and customization of our applications.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

Solution Integration Architects work with the newest IT products in a demanding environment. You should have already worked as a Solution Integration Architect in various projects and this will be the next step in your professional career.

Architects within this team are expected to have high standards of code quality and will have daily and weekly targets. We measure the quality of work through our First Time Acceptance rate, meaning that our Product Chief Architects accept the work delivered by the software architects immediately and without having to ask for a rework.

In all cases, you will have aggressive daily and weekly targets to work against, and you can expect to receive daily and weekly feedback about your performance. The regular feedback is used to help you improve immediately and to help you resolve blockers which may be slowing down your performance.

 
ONLINE HIRING EVENT

A hiring event is a scheduled online event where all our relevant testing relating to a role is conducted on the same day. Submissions received during the event are graded the following week, and successful candidates notified if they have progressed to the next round which is an online interview with a Hiring Manager.

 
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Execution of on-site and remote integration for complex BSS architectures including internal products and ecosystem of new or already installed applications, interfaces configuration & integration

Executing modeling of customer tariff structure

Support in configuration and customization

Define acceptance test scope

Working with 3rd parties in trouble resolution and ensuring compliance with requirements

Co-accountable for the operational launch of the solution

Co-accountable for migration testing (tooling and process) and first executions

Co-accountable for functional and non-functional testing of the deployed solution

 
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

Total of 5+ years of work experience with BSS technology products and services within telco companies

Experience with Redhat LINUX and shell/Perl scripting

An excellent level of Java and webserver technologies

Minimum of 5 years of testing experience in telco companies

2+ years in an environment where you used architecture principles and frameworks

At least 1 year of working experience using cloud services such as AWS

Minimum of 1-year experience in mobile telecom networks GSM/CDMA, billing solutions, rating and charging systems, Microsoft CRM, solutions, Self-care solutions ( Web, USSD, IVR), Web Portals

Understanding of Systems Integration business with experience in one or more aspects of Telecom BSS solution deployment/integration

Experienced in testing of software systems; preferably telco systems

Excellent organizational skills with the proven ability to work proactively under minimal supervision

Sound understanding of operator business drivers and technology

Ability to construct SQL queries to retrieve complex information from a SQL Server/Oracle database

Excellent written and oral English communication, presentation and negotiation skills

Nice to Have:
  • Knowledge of multiple technologies including (but not limited to) TCP/IP, CORBA, SOAP, SS7, Diameter, Http(s) strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of Optiva ( Redknee) TCB or Unified Suite of products
  • Knowledge of configuring network elements including switches, routers, and load-balancers valued
  • Strong critical thinking and analysis skills Creative, innovative and strategic thinking

Travel Requirements:
  • A minimum of 2 months of continuous travel on site to customers and at least 50% of travel in a year
  • Possess the maturity to adapt to different corporate environments
  • Should be fluent in English. Spanish skills are advantageous to have

  • As an SA, what are the opportunities to learn and work with new technologies?

    The learning responsibilities belong to you. However, we can provide support and adequate content to help you. To be able to work with new technologies, you will need to re-apply and take the specific tests on the desired technology stream.

  • What are the key things I need to do to ensure I am successful as a Software Architect?

    Besides the apparent technical knowledge required to do the role, and keeping yourself up to date with the latest technology updates, you should also have a comfortable and quiet environment to work from. You should set a good calendar for your week which is repeatable and which allows you to dedicate long blocks of time towards your work with Crossover.

  • How do you measure the productivity of a Solutions team?

    We do not measure the productivity by technology. Every team has a metric which they deliver against; by default, every person within the team is measured by the same metric on a weekly basis. For example, the metric for our maintenance team is “number of bugs fixed.” The cost per unit of the maintenance team on a weekly basis is the total headcount cost of the team for a week divided by the number of bugs fixed during the same week.

  • I heard you have a tracking tool to monitor your teams, why do you use it?

    One of the key objectives of our productivity tracker is for it to be used by our Crossover partners to log time and eventually get paid. We also log information about our Crossover partners to understand what tools and applications they are using. This helps us to build work patterns of our people and identify best practices which we can share with all our teams. As an engineer we expect that you would be spending at least 80% of your time in your relevant IDE with the remaining 20% spent on email, meetings and reviewing documents.

  • Do you use Agile?

    Like most organizations, we make use of subsets of Agile. The one key difference though is that our teams are highly specialized in the task they do. For example, we have a maintenance team whose only task is to fix bugs on our products. Rather than being product specialists they are process specialists.
