Director of Sponsorships   $400,000 USD/year

Description

Sports communities know how to rally behind an athlete. This role turns that loyalty into scholarship funding: you are the public voice for student athletes and the person who converts trusted relationships into donations. Donors give to people they believe, and partners open their audiences only to leaders they'd vouch for. You will answer for the dollars that follow, not the applause.

Stealth Educational Startup is recruiting for Student Athlete Scholarships, an initiative focused on K-12 scholarships for student athletes. Starting January 1, 2027, individuals can claim a federal tax credit for cash donations to approved Scholarship Granting Organizations in participating states. You will build the external engine that turns support for student athletes into donations: a credible media presence, speaking platforms and partnerships with companies, associations, organizations and influencers.

You set the agenda and own the result. You decide which partners to pursue and which stages to take, negotiate and sign the agreements, and activate them into donor campaigns. Then you read the attribution data and put your effort where it raises money. Accuracy is part of the job. Every public claim you make or approve about school choices, student-athlete life and tax treatment has to hold up, and anything that needs legal review gets it.

You report to the Board of Directors, and you will not run daily operations or administer scholarships, so your attention stays external. This is full-time remote work in the United States, 40 hours per week. If you want to be the face of a mission and be held to the dollars it raises, apply.

What you will be doing

  • Serve as the principal spokesperson for student-athlete scholarships: pitch reporters, lead TV, radio, print, podcast and online interviews, and headline conferences, member meetings, webinars and community events.
  • Set the message: appear in video and social content, explain the tax credit in plain language, keep current on the federal scholarship tax credit, participating states and new IRS guidance, and check every public claim through approved messaging and legal review.
  • Build the partnership portfolio: personally identify, approach and win companies, organizations, associations and influencers who reach athletes, families and sports fans.
  • Negotiate and close the agreements, including paid influencer partnerships, that commit partners to asking their employees, members, customers and followers to donate, then activate the campaigns.
  • Run the results: track active partners, members reached, donations from partner outreach and from influencer posts, media coverage and speaking engagements, report them honestly, and redirect effort to what produces donations.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Running daily operations, managing finances or administering scholarships.
  • A ceremonial spokesperson role that delegates appearances and partnership outreach. You do the work, and you are judged by the donations you can attribute.
  • Calling impressions or a signed partner logo a success without looking at activation and donation results.
  • Giving individual tax advice or promising that donations to this organization, or sports-specific expenses, qualify for a tax program.

Key responsibilities

Increase attributable donations supporting K-12 scholarships for student athletes by owning the initiative's public credibility and the partnerships that convert it into funding.

Candidate requirements

  • You know youth and high-school sports from the inside. You've been part of a young athlete's school decisions as the athlete, coach, counselor, recruiter or parent, and you can explain how training, travel and classes pull against each other when families weigh their options.
  • You're at ease in front of a microphone or camera. You've given live and on-camera interviews as an official spokesperson, and you've pitched journalists, fielded press inquiries or engaged policymakers on an organization's behalf. You stay accurate when the questions get hard.
  • You close. You've personally sourced and signed partnerships with companies, associations or membership organizations, each ending in a signed agreement or MOU. You know the difference between a warm intro and a deal.
  • You know how to work with creators. You've negotiated or managed paid influencer or content-creator agreements and know how to keep a partner's audience engaged and the messaging on point.
  • You make complex topics clear. You've explained tax or public policy to the public in plain language, through articles, explainers, FAQs, op-eds, testimony or interviews, with a sound process for checking your sources. You're ready to master federal scholarship tax-credit and SGO rules within your first 30 days.
  • You work well on your own. You're based in the United States, available 40 hours a week, and used to driving results in a remote setting without needing someone to set your agenda.

Nice to have

  • Firsthand experience as a student athlete, coach, athletic director or supporter of a young athlete, one of several ways to know this world.
  • Relationships with youth-sports organizations, athletic associations or sports media.
  • Experience in school choice, scholarships or education nonprofits.
