Director of Academics   $400,000 USD/year

Description

If you've ever envisioned a groundbreaking academic strategy and seen it through to success, we want you. At 2 Hour Learning, we need a leader who has not only imagined but also implemented innovative learning approaches. If you're ready to stand at the forefront of educational transformation, join us as we redefine learning with AI tutors and mastery-based progression.

Our unique model accelerates student learning within a two-hour window daily, challenging traditional education frameworks. We're searching for a visionary who can synchronize diverse educational models, elevate our academic leadership, and champion our scientifically-backed movement on a global stage.

This isn't a role for theorists—it's for leaders. You'll be the architect of our academic strategy, setting benchmarks, identifying gaps, and guiding elite teams to achieve tangible results. You'll transform our scientific insights into operational excellence and advocate for our model worldwide.

What you will be doing

  • Developing academic strategies that turn learning science into actionable curriculum, motivation systems, and app designs.
  • Overseeing academic reviews with Heads of Academics to ensure school teams are aligned and accountable for results.
  • Analyzing data, interviews, and observations to identify barriers to accelerated learning and suggest practical interventions.
  • Ensuring strategic alignment through meticulous planning, feedback, and milestone tracking to keep student goals in focus.
  • Representing 2 Hour Learning on global platforms, influencing educational reform by showcasing our innovative model.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Working on isolated curriculum projects without influencing broader change.
  • Producing abstract research disconnected from student outcomes.
  • Shifting accountability for performance to others, such as middle managers or consultants.
  • Relying solely on reputation or theory to convince stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

Expand and enhance the successful academic model of 2 Hour Learning by aligning execution across schools, raising leadership standards, and serving as the public figure of a science-driven movement with real-world results.

Candidate requirements

  • Master's or Ph.D. in Learning Science, Educational Psychology, Instructional Design, or a related discipline
  • Over 7 years of experience leading academic or EdTech teams with proven success in learning outcomes
  • Demonstrated expertise in using AI or technology to boost learning
  • Established public thought leadership through media, keynotes, publications, or advisory roles
  • Proficient in performance management, setting high standards for peers
  • Skilled in data analysis to diagnose learning challenges and implement solutions
  • Adept at interacting with students, parents, and educational leaders

Nice to have

  • Experience founding or leading an innovative school model, lab school, or successful EdTech venture
  • Knowledge of navigating different cultural, political, or international educational environments
  • In-depth understanding of Bloom’s 2 Sigma research and mastery learning frameworks
