Description

Are you a database administrator whose expertise transcends routine maintenance, with hands-on experience in high availability, disaster recovery, performance tuning, and point-in-time recovery? Do Skyvera is looking for a professional who sees databases not as mere storage solutions but as keystones of technological advancement.

Skyvera has a clear mission: maintaining the delicate balance between managing legacy telco software and preparing them for the industry’s inevitable shift to the cloud. As an expert in Oracle Database, you will lead significant database projects to optimize performance and security, ensuring our systems are at the forefront of technological advancement.

Your responsibilities will extend beyond typical database administration. You will be instrumental in developing and maintaining comprehensive database documentation - setting standards that define industry best practices. You will deeply engage with complex database systems, focusing on crucial tasks like advanced troubleshooting, disaster recovery, and performance tuning.

  • Actively manage various database systems, focusing on enhancing security, capacity and ensuring minimal downtime
  • Create and regularly update detailed database documentation, including data standards, procedures, and data dictionaries, to guide efficient practices

What you will NOT be doing

  • Data analysis - this role has everything to do with databases and nothing to do with data; this is an entirely different from from Data Scientist
  • Basic monitoring - this role demands deep, hands-on engagement with complex database systems, especially Oracle
  • Financial analysis or data entry - again, that's a totally different role!

Key responsibilities

  • Guarantee that all database systems operate at peak efficiency, supporting Skyvera's critical operations and customer satisfaction

Candidate requirements

  • Professional experience as an Oracle DBA (if you have never held the title of "Database Administrator" (or similar) or worked with Oracle Database, please do not bother applying)
  • At least 3 years of experience in database administration, including hands-on experience with high availability, disaster recovery, performance tuning, and point-in-time recovery
  • Advanced SQL skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Postgres and MySQL
