Cloud Architect   $100,000 USD/year

Description

You're the type of DevOps engineer who prevents outages rather than simply responding to them. If you find satisfaction in dissecting complicated legacy infrastructure, architecting more efficient solutions, and automating every repetitive process you come across, this opportunity is for you. We need a DevOps and AWS infrastructure specialist who excels in demanding environments where 99.9% uptime is the baseline expectation. Your work will span a portfolio of acquired products, each with unique characteristics, as you migrate them into a unified, scalable AWS ecosystem while implementing monitoring and automation that genuinely reduces incident frequency.

Most organizations expect you to manage a single technology stack. We need you to consolidate and refine multiple stacks without causing disruptions. Where other companies isolate databases, we take a different approach, strategically consolidating them to maximize cost efficiency and management effectiveness across our portfolio. This position isn't for someone content to monitor existing infrastructure; it's for someone who observes a fragmented, inconsistent environment and immediately begins architecting improvements.

Your ownership extends from infrastructure migrations to AI-powered automation, performance optimization, database migration, and cost management. This includes identifying and resolving existing issues, planning and implementing cloud migrations with minimal downtime, and using AI/ML-powered workflows to automate substantial portions of operational work. You'll possess genuine decision-making authority over infrastructure—no endless waiting for approval from stakeholders lacking technical depth.

If you're a self-directed problem-solver who excels at simplifying complex systems and ensuring flawless operation, this role will challenge and engage you. If you require constant guidance, struggle with diverse technology stacks, or favor greenfield projects over transforming chaos into order, this position will frustrate you. If you're prepared to assume ownership of a high-impact infrastructure role with opportunities to build, optimize, and automate at scale, submit your application now!

What you will be doing

  • Planning and executing sophisticated infrastructure transformations, including migrations from legacy environments to AWS cloud infrastructure and lift-and-shift migrations
  • Designing and deploying monitoring strategies and creating automations for monitoring, software deployment, and operational processes
  • Conducting system monitoring, system backups, incident response, database migrations, database configurations, and cost optimization

What you will NOT be doing

  • Spending your time in Jira and perpetual status meetings - we value people who deliver solutions, not merely document problems
  • Keeping outdated systems running indefinitely - you'll be authorized to implement substantial improvements
  • Waiting through bureaucratic approval processes - you'll possess the authority to implement immediate fixes during incidents
  • Operating within narrow technical boundaries - this role demands both breadth and depth of technical knowledge
  • Justifying budget requests for essential improvements - we recognize the critical nature of infrastructure investment

Key responsibilities

  • Drive reliability and standardization of cloud infrastructure across our expanding product portfolio by deploying comprehensive monitoring, automation, and AWS best practices.

Candidate requirements

  • Deep AWS infrastructure expertise (this is our primary platform - experience with other cloud providers alone is insufficient)
  • Strong programming skills in Python or JavaScript for developing automation and tooling
  • Experience managing and migrating production databases with multiple engines (including MySql, Postgres, Oracle, MS-SQL)
  • Advanced Docker/Kubernetes skills
  • Experience with infrastructure automation (Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation)
  • Linux systems administration expertise
