Director of Membership   $200,000 USD/year

Description

While most enrollment positions prioritize throughput, this role is designed to uphold standards.

Alpha is constructing one of the world's most forward-thinking school frameworks. Our locations integrate demanding academics, technology-enabled instruction, and elevated expectations for both learners and educators. Students routinely exceed national learning benchmarks, with outcomes supported by measurable data. Afternoons are reserved for deeper engagement, autonomous learning, and practical competency development. The model is proven. Its success, however, depends entirely on enrolling the right families. Your role begins here.

You will control the complete admissions experience for a campus, spanning initial application to final enrollment. This is not a transitional position. You are accountable for how families perceive us, how well they grasp the model, and whether enrollment choices are made with appropriate reasoning. You will evaluate compatibility, facilitate informed discussions, and advise against enrollment when circumstances warrant it. Maximum enrollment is not the objective. Alignment is.

We welcome candidates from distinguished service backgrounds outside conventional education: selective private schools, competitive entry programs, high-end hospitality, executive coordination, exclusive membership institutions, or entrepreneurs who have directly overseen premium client experiences from start to finish. What counts is your capacity to execute a consultative, phased process with discernment, transparency, and consistency. If your professional experience centers on delivering exceptional service where credibility, confidentiality, and experiential quality shape the brand, this opportunity will resonate. Apply now to apply that caliber to meaningful work.

What you will be doing

  • Taking full ownership of the enrollment pathway for prospective families, beginning with initial inquiry and concluding with onboarding.
  • Facilitating diagnostic conversations to assess alignment before introducing program details or suggesting progression.
  • Overseeing 20+ concurrent family engagements across varying enrollment phases, maintaining transparency on status and scheduled touchpoints.
  • Guiding campus visits, student shadowing sessions, and enrollment discussions that articulate results, standards, and ideal candidate profiles.
  • Ensuring precise CRM and enrollment documentation (HubSpot and SIS) to enable forecasting, prioritization, and consistent service delivery.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Employing transactional or aggressive conversion techniques.
  • Accepting families who lack alignment purely to satisfy enrollment targets.
  • Overseeing a sizable team or navigating complex hierarchical processes.
  • Distributing responsibility for family engagement across multiple departments.
  • Operating remotely. This position is intentionally campus-based.

Key responsibilities

Lead and deliver a trust-centered, highly selective enrollment process that secures well-matched families while safeguarding the quality and effectiveness of the Alpha framework.

Candidate requirements

  • 3+ years providing elevated, individualized service in contexts where service excellence directly influences brand perception (education, premium hospitality, executive assistance, exclusive membership organizations, or independently managed client services).
  • Proven ownership of a complete client, admissions, or enrollment cycle from initial engagement through final onboarding.
  • Experience concurrently managing 20+ client, guest, or family interactions at varied stages, supported by a structured tracking and prioritization approach.
  • Capacity to present specific instances of advisory decision-making, including occasions where you recommended against your own offering due to poor fit.
  • Professional correspondence experience with C-level executives, high-net-worth clientele, or discerning stakeholders.
  • Prepared to reside in or relocate within 60 days to one of these locations: Malibu, CA; Los Angeles, CA; or Santa Barbara, CA.
  • Authorized for U.S. employment without requirement for visa sponsorship.

Nice to have

  • Background in admissions for selective independent schools or competitive enrollment programs.
  • History in premium hospitality, VIP client services, or executive support capacities.
  • Experience designing or enhancing enrollment workflows, standard operating procedures, or service benchmarks.
  • Proficiency applying data and CRM analytics to elevate enrollment quality, not merely velocity.
