Director of Admissions and Enrollment   $250,000 USD/year

Description

Most admissions positions focus on volume. This position is designed to uphold standards.

Alpha is developing a school model with exceptional ambition. Our campuses integrate demanding academics, technology-enabled instruction, and elevated expectations for both students and faculty. Student learning velocity consistently exceeds national benchmarks, supported by measurable data. Afternoon hours are dedicated to deeper exploration, independent work, and practical skill development. The model delivers results. But success depends entirely on enrolling the right families.

This is your responsibility.

You will lead the entire admissions process for a campus, beginning with application and concluding with enrollment. This is not a role where responsibility transfers across teams. You are accountable for the family experience, the clarity with which they understand our model, and whether enrollment decisions are grounded in genuine fit. You will evaluate alignment, facilitate meaningful dialogue, and recommend declining applicants when warranted. Maximum enrollment is not the objective. The objective is alignment.

We welcome applicants from premium service sectors outside conventional education: independent schools, selective programs, high-end hospitality, executive operations, exclusive membership communities, or entrepreneurs who have directly managed sophisticated client relationships from start to finish. What counts is your capacity to execute a detailed, multi-phase process with sound judgment, transparent communication, and consistent follow-through.

If your professional experience centers on delivering exceptional service in environments where trust, professionalism, and quality of experience define reputation, this role will resonate—applied now to work that produces measurable impact.

This is a salaried, full-time, on-site position. We are currently hiring for Marin County, Palo Alto, Piedmont, and San Francisco. Relocation assistance is provided.

What you will be doing

  • Leading the complete enrollment experience for prospective families, spanning initial outreach through final onboarding.
  • Facilitating needs-based conversations to evaluate compatibility before proposing solutions or advising on next actions.
  • Overseeing 20+ concurrent family engagements across various enrollment phases, with transparent tracking of progress and follow-up activities.
  • Directing campus visits, student shadow days, and decision-stage discussions that articulate outcomes, expectations, and ideal fit criteria.
  • Ensuring precise CRM and enrollment documentation (HubSpot and SIS) to enable forecasting, priority management, and consistent service delivery.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Employing transactional or aggressive enrollment tactics.
  • Admitting families with poor alignment solely to meet enrollment targets.
  • Overseeing a sizable team or operating within complex approval hierarchies.
  • Distributing accountability for family experience across multiple departments.
  • Working from a remote location. This position is on-campus by intention.

Key responsibilities

Lead and deliver a high-integrity, selective enrollment process that secures families with strong alignment while safeguarding the standards and outcomes central to the Alpha model.

Candidate requirements

  • 3+ years providing premium, individualized service in settings where service excellence directly influences organizational reputation (education, high-end hospitality, executive assistance, exclusive membership organizations, or independent service operations).
  • Proven ownership of a complete client, admissions, or enrollment process spanning initial contact through onboarding completion.
  • Experience concurrently managing 20+ client, guest, or family interactions across multiple stages, supported by a robust tracking and prioritization framework.
  • Capacity to share specific examples of consultative judgment, including instances where you advised against your offering when alignment was absent.
  • Professional-level written communication with senior leaders, affluent clients, or discerning stakeholders.
  • Willingness to reside in or relocate within 60 days to one of these locations: Marin County, CA; Palo Alto, CA; Piedmont, CA; or San Francisco, CA.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship.

Nice to have

  • Experience in admissions for selective independent schools or competitive enrollment programs.
  • Professional background in luxury hospitality, VIP client services, or executive-level support functions.
  • Experience designing or enhancing enrollment workflows, standard operating procedures, or service benchmarks.
  • Proficiency leveraging data and CRM tools to enhance enrollment quality, not merely throughput.
