Director of Admissions   $250,000 USD/year

Description

Most admissions positions prioritize volume. This role is designed to uphold standards.

Alpha is developing one of the world's most rigorous school models. Our campuses integrate demanding academics, technology-enabled instruction, and elevated expectations for both learners and educators. Students routinely progress ahead of national benchmarks—validated by evidence. Afternoons are structured for deeper learning, autonomy, and the development of practical competencies. The model is effective. But success depends on enrolling families who align with its principles.

Your role begins here.

You will manage the complete admissions process for a campus, spanning application through final enrollment. This is not a pass-along function. You are accountable for the family's experience with our organization, the clarity with which they grasp the model, and the integrity of their enrollment decision. You will evaluate compatibility, facilitate meaningful dialogue, and advise against enrollment when appropriate. Maximum enrollment is not the objective. The objective is alignment.

We welcome candidates from high-caliber service backgrounds outside conventional education: selective independent schools, competitive programs, luxury hospitality, executive client management, elite membership organizations, or entrepreneurial operators who have personally directed high-stakes client experiences from inception to completion. What counts is your capability to execute a nuanced, multi-phase process with discernment, precision, and accountability.

If your professional history includes delivering exceptional service in contexts where trust, confidentiality, and experience quality are brand-defining, this position will be recognizable—only applied to work that produces measurable impact.

This is a full-time, salaried, on-site position. We are recruiting for Marin County, Palo Alto, Piedmont, and San Francisco. Relocation assistance is provided.

What you will be doing

  • Taking full ownership of the enrollment pathway for prospective families, beginning with initial outreach and concluding with onboarding.
  • Facilitating discovery conversations to evaluate alignment before proposing options or advancing to subsequent steps.
  • Overseeing 20+ concurrent family engagements across varied enrollment stages, with transparent tracking of progress and required follow-up actions.
  • Orchestrating campus visits, student shadow sessions, and enrollment discussions that articulate outcomes, expectations, and the intended audience for the model.
  • Sustaining precise CRM and enrollment documentation (HubSpot and SIS) to enable forecasting, prioritization, and consistent service delivery.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Employing transactional or aggressive sales methods.
  • Admitting families whose values do not align in order to meet enrollment targets.
  • Supervising a large staff or operating within complex approval hierarchies.
  • Distributing responsibility for the family journey across multiple departments.
  • Performing duties remotely. This position is campus-based by necessity.

Key responsibilities

Lead and deliver a high-integrity, selective enrollment process that secures the right families while safeguarding the standards and effectiveness of the Alpha model.

Candidate requirements

  • 3+ years providing premium, customized service in settings where service excellence directly influences brand perception (education, luxury hospitality, executive assistance, exclusive membership services, or owner-led operations).
  • Proven ownership of a complete client, admissions, or enrollment lifecycle from initial interaction through final onboarding.
  • Track record of concurrently managing 20+ client, guest, or family engagements across multiple phases, supported by a reliable tracking and prioritization framework.
  • Capacity to present specific examples of consultative judgment, including instances where you advised against your offering when fit was lacking.
  • Professional writing experience addressing senior leaders, high-net-worth clientele, or discerning audiences.
  • Prepared to reside in or relocate within 60 days to one of these locations: Marin County, CA; Palo Alto, CA; Piedmont, CA; or San Francisco, CA.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Nice to have

  • Background in admissions for selective independent schools or enrollment in competitive programs.
  • Professional experience in luxury hospitality, VIP client services, or executive support capacities.
  • Involvement in creating or optimizing enrollment workflows, standard operating procedures, or service benchmarks.
  • Proficiency leveraging data and CRM analytics to enhance enrollment quality rather than solely accelerating timelines.
