Associate Director of Admissions   $250,000 USD/year

Description

Many enrollment positions are designed to maximize numbers. This position is designed to uphold quality.

Alpha is developing one of the most forward-thinking educational models in existence. Our locations combine demanding academics, technology-integrated instruction, and elevated expectations for both learners and educators. Students routinely achieve learning gains that exceed national standards, supported by measurable evidence. Afternoons are structured to enable deeper exploration, self-directed work, and practical competency development. The approach delivers results. But results depend entirely on enrolling the right families.

That is your mandate.

You will lead the complete admissions process for a campus location, beginning with initial inquiry and continuing through final enrollment. This is not a role with handoffs. You are accountable for the family's experience with our organization, the clarity with which they grasp the educational model, and the integrity of enrollment decisions. You will evaluate compatibility, facilitate substantive dialogue, and advise against enrollment when circumstances warrant it. The objective is not to maximize headcount. The objective is to ensure alignment.

We welcome applicants from high-caliber service sectors outside conventional education: independent schools, competitive admissions programs, high-end hospitality, senior-level executive assistance, exclusive membership institutions, or entrepreneurial operators who have directly overseen high-stakes client relationships from inception to completion. What counts is your capacity to execute a personalized, multi-phase engagement with discernment, precision, and accountability.

If your professional background centers on exceptional service delivery where trust, confidentiality, and experience design shape brand identity, this role will be recognizable—applied instead to work that meaningfully influences life outcomes.

This is a full-time, salaried, on-site position. We are currently hiring for Marin County, Palo Alto, Piedmont, and San Francisco. Assistance with relocation is provided.

What you will be doing

  • Leading the complete enrollment experience for prospective families, from initial outreach through final onboarding.
  • Facilitating discovery-based conversations to evaluate alignment before proposing pathways or advising on next actions.
  • Stewarding 20+ concurrent family engagements across various stages of the admissions cycle, with transparent tracking of progress and follow-up obligations.
  • Guiding campus visits, student shadowing sessions, and enrollment discussions that articulate results, expectations, and ideal candidate profiles.
  • Ensuring precise CRM and enrollment data hygiene (HubSpot and SIS) to enable accurate forecasting, intelligent prioritization, and consistent service excellence.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Deploying volume-driven or aggressive sales methodologies.
  • Admitting families who lack alignment purely to satisfy enrollment targets.
  • Overseeing large teams or navigating complex hierarchical approvals.
  • Distributing responsibility for the family journey across multiple functional roles.
  • Operating remotely. This position is intentionally campus-based.

Key responsibilities

Lead and deliver a high-integrity, selective enrollment process that secures well-matched families while safeguarding the operational and academic standards of the Alpha model.

Candidate requirements

  • 3+ years providing high-caliber, individualized service in settings where the quality of service directly shapes institutional reputation (education, upscale hospitality, executive-level support, premium membership services, or independently managed client operations).
  • Proven ownership of a full-cycle client, admissions, or enrollment process spanning first engagement through onboarding completion.
  • Experience coordinating 20+ concurrent client, guest, or family interactions across varied stages, supported by a reliable tracking and prioritization methodology.
  • Capacity to supply specific examples of consultative judgment, including instances where you advised against engagement when the offering was unsuitable.
  • Professional-grade written communication experience with C-level executives, high-net-worth clients, or discerning audiences.
  • Willingness to reside in or relocate within 60 days to one of these locations: Marin County, CA; Palo Alto, CA; Piedmont, CA; or San Francisco, CA.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without requirement for visa sponsorship.

Nice to have

  • Experience in competitive independent school admissions or high-selectivity program enrollment.
  • Professional background in upscale hospitality, VIP client services, or C-suite support functions.
  • Experience designing or optimizing enrollment workflows, standard operating procedures, or service delivery protocols.
  • Proficiency leveraging data and CRM analytics to enhance enrollment quality, not merely velocity.
