Bay Area admissions professionals at established schools rarely need to recruit. They manage waitlists, staff committees, and steward reputations decades in the making. This position works differently. In your territory, nearly no family knows us yet. Your job is to find them.
Alpha is a K–12 independent school founded on a provable premise: students finish core academics in two hours daily, progress faster than national norms, and dedicate afternoons to substantive skill-building instead of rote tasks. Bay Area families represent both the toughest audience for that premise and the most valuable. Founders, engineers, doctors, and investors will not settle for a friendly tour and mission-driven talking points. They will demand evidence, scrutinize trade-offs, and benchmark us against Nueva, Castilleja, Harker, Marin Country Day, and Branson in one conversation. Embrace that rigor.
Understand what this role entails. It is a sales function with a selectivity imperative. You create your own pipeline: preschool and feeder-school alliances, community ties, local programming, and word-of-mouth from families you have already won. You own a growth target. You also turn families away when the model does not serve their child, in a market where declining a well-networked parent has real consequences. Both responsibilities define the job. One misaligned enrollment in a small cohort costs more than an unfilled seat.
In year one, you serve as the founding local presence for a campus with limited local recognition, and the majority of your time is spent outside the building. As enrollment scales, the nature of the work shifts. You transition from initiating first contacts to becoming the admissions leader parents request by name, supported by staff and a methodology other campuses replicate.
You are on-site at one campus (Palo Alto or San Rafael) five days weekly, present at morning drop-off, afternoon pick-up, and evening programming. If you have Bay Area ties and value the complete family lifecycle, apply today.
