Head of Admissions   $250,000 USD/year

Description

Most admissions positions prioritize throughput. This one is designed to uphold rigor.

Alpha is constructing one of the world's most forward-thinking school models. Our campuses integrate demanding academics, technology-enabled instruction, and elevated expectations for both students and educators. Students routinely advance at rates exceeding national averages, supported by measurable outcomes. Afternoons are dedicated to deeper exploration, self-directed learning, and practical competency development. The model is proven. But success depends entirely on selecting the right families.

This is your responsibility.

You will lead the full admissions process for a campus, starting with initial inquiry and concluding with completed enrollment. This is not a role where responsibilities are divided. You determine how families perceive us, how thoroughly they grasp the model, and whether their decision to enroll is grounded in accurate understanding. You will evaluate compatibility, facilitate meaningful dialogue, and advise against enrollment when appropriate. The objective is not maximizing headcount. The objective is mutual alignment.

We welcome candidates whose experience comes from high-caliber service sectors outside conventional education: independent schools, competitive admissions programs, luxury hospitality, executive client management, premium membership services, or entrepreneurial ventures involving direct oversight of high-value client experiences. What counts is your capacity to deliver a sophisticated, multi-phase engagement with discernment, precision, and accountability.

If your professional background centers on exceptional service delivery where credibility, confidentiality, and client experience shape the brand, this position will be recognizable—simply applied to work that produces measurable impact.

This is a salaried, full-time, on-site position. We are currently hiring for Marin County, Palo Alto, Piedmont, and San Francisco. Relocation assistance is provided.

What you will be doing

  • Leading the complete enrollment experience for prospective families, from initial engagement through final onboarding.
  • Facilitating diagnostic conversations to evaluate compatibility before proposing options or advancing to subsequent stages.
  • Overseeing 20+ concurrent family engagements across varying phases of the admissions cycle, with transparent tracking and timely follow-through.
  • Delivering campus tours, student shadow visits, and enrollment discussions that transparently convey results, standards, and target audience fit.
  • Sustaining precise CRM records and enrollment data (HubSpot and SIS) to enable forecasting, pipeline management, and consistent service excellence.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Deploying volume-driven or aggressive conversion strategies.
  • Accepting families who are poorly suited to the model merely to satisfy enrollment targets.
  • Overseeing staff or operating within complex hierarchical structures.
  • Distributing accountability for family engagement across multiple departments.
  • Performing this work remotely. The role requires consistent campus presence.

Key responsibilities

Design and execute a selective, trust-based enrollment process that secures well-matched families while safeguarding the academic integrity and operational effectiveness of the Alpha model.

Candidate requirements

  • 3+ years providing elevated, individualized service in settings where client experience directly shapes organizational reputation (education, luxury hospitality, executive assistance, premium membership sectors, or independently operated service businesses).
  • Proven accountability for a complete client, admissions, or enrollment lifecycle spanning initial outreach to final integration.
  • Track record managing 20+ simultaneous client, guest, or family interactions across multiple progression stages, supported by a functional system for organization and prioritization.
  • Capacity to offer specific instances of advisory decision-making, including situations where you counseled against your own offering due to misalignment.
  • Professional-grade written communication skills with senior leaders, affluent clients, or discerning stakeholders.
  • Prepared to reside in or relocate within 60 days to one of these locations: Marin County, CA; Palo Alto, CA; Piedmont, CA; or San Francisco, CA.
  • Eligible for U.S. employment without requiring visa sponsorship.

Nice to have

  • Background in admissions for selective independent schools or competitive enrollment programs.
  • Professional experience in luxury hospitality, VIP concierge services, or executive support functions.
  • History of designing or optimizing enrollment workflows, operating procedures, or service delivery frameworks.
  • Proficiency leveraging data and CRM analytics to enhance fit quality, not merely enrollment velocity.
