Camp Counselor   $30 USD/hour

Description

  • On-site: Texas Sports Academy, Lake Travis (Austin), TX
  • $30/hr | 15–30 hrs/week | Full-time path available at $60,000/year + benefits
  • Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM (choose your schedule within school hours)

Academics here take two hours. Not two hours of lecture — two hours of focused, self-paced work, and then the rest of the day belongs to athletic training. That compression is the whole point, and it only works if nobody wastes a minute of it.

That's the job. You own the operational layer of a student-athlete's day: the academic block starts on time and stays tight, materials and equipment are ready before anyone walks in, and a student drifting at minute forty is back on task before it costs them the session. Then you turn the room over and do it again for afternoon training and athlete-development workshops.

If "assistant" means standing back and stepping in only when something breaks, this isn't that job. From your first week, you're in the middle of it — monitoring the room, applying TSA-approved motivational techniques (positive reinforcement, structured prompts, real-time redirection), and prepping each session so the Coach walks in and starts immediately.

You'll work alongside Coaches and partner trainers across classrooms, gyms, and training spaces. The more fluent you become in TSA's model, the more you own — and for the right person, the path to becoming a Coach is direct. Apply now.

What you will be doing

  • Supervising student-athlete transitions between the academic block, training sessions, and workshops (roughly 30% of your time): monitoring the clock, prompting students to move, and using positive reinforcement to keep movement orderly and on schedule
  • Preparing session materials before each block by gathering academic supplies, workshop materials, and training equipment, organizing them per the plan, and confirming setup matches the Coach's instructions before the session begins
  • Facilitating student-athlete engagement during the two-hour academic block and afternoon training (roughly 40% of your time) by monitoring participation, identifying disengagement early, and redirecting students using TSA-approved techniques without interrupting instruction

What you will NOT be doing

  • Standing at the edge of the room waiting for something to go wrong — this role requires active presence and real-time decision-making throughout the school day
  • Coaching athletes, programming training, or running drills; the training plan belongs to the Coaches and partner trainers
  • Designing lessons, writing activity plans, or being accountable for academic outcomes (the Coach's responsibility)
  • Inventing your own approach to student behavior; TSA's motivational techniques are defined and you'll apply them consistently
  • Managing facility tasks, carpool logistics, or after-hours events; your scope is session operations during the school day

Key responsibilities

Keep Texas Sports Academy's academic and training day running on schedule so Coaches can stay focused on instruction and training.
