Vice President of Construction   $400,000 USD/year

Description

2 Hour Learning is on an ambitious journey to open 25-30 new school campuses in just six months. This rapid expansion encompasses physical campuses, digital infrastructure, and the financial strategies that underpin it all.

We're seeking SVP-level professionals to lead key operational sectors, including:

  • Regulatory approvals
  • Campus build-out
  • Onboarding & systems
  • Financial operations

This role demands a unique blend of generalist insight and specialist prowess. We'll align you with the best fit based on your experience and expertise, with the expectation of structured thinking, unwavering ownership, and a startup-paced execution.

ABOUT 2 HOUR LEARNING

2 Hour Learning is the engine behind Alpha Schools, NextGen Academy, GT School, Texas Sports Academy, and Unbound Academy. These K-12 educational institutions thrive on the idea that students can achieve a year's worth of growth in just two focused hours daily, leaving ample time for pursuits like sailing, sports, public speaking, or game design.

Our platform fuses real-time dashboards, curriculum suggestions, and feedback mechanisms, providing students and guides with both the structure for speed and the freedom for personal growth.

Backed by private equity, we have the long-term funding and the drive to scale. Charter applications are underway, and new campuses are being established. The model is proven; now we need the infrastructure to match.

WHY JOIN THIS TEAM?

For post-consulting operators, this is a rare chance to lead from the front — not just advise from the sidelines.

You'll enjoy:

  • Complete ownership of a critical launch domain
  • The ability to move swiftly, supported by capital, evidence, and a clear mandate
  • Direct interaction with the founder, key functional leaders, and involvement in national launches
  • A pivotal role in making significant operational decisions

ARE YOU THE RIGHT CANDIDATE?

If you've ever thought, "I could make this plan twice as fast and ten times cleaner," this is your opportunity to prove it.

What you will be doing

Your responsibilities will vary based on your expertise, potentially leading:

  • Regulatory Operations — obtaining state and local approvals
  • Campus Expansion — overseeing construction, vendor management, and timelines
  • Student Systems & Support — managing onboarding, service level agreements, and change processes
  • Financial Operations — handling budgets, financial models, and comprehensive reporting

You'll work across functions, ensuring delivery. This is a role for action, not advice. You'll deliver tangible results.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Following a pre-set playbook — you'll be creating one
  • Waiting for consensus — you'll lead decisively
  • Focusing on a single site or workstream — you'll manage multiple launches simultaneously
  • Operating from a distance — this role demands high visibility and responsibility
  • Delegating challenging tasks — you'll be the decision-maker

Key responsibilities

Take charge of your operational domain, ensuring outcomes are met on time and on target, without excuses. You'll be aligned with the pillar that best suits your skills, but the domain is yours to command.

Candidate requirements

We're looking for leaders across various operational sectors. Each requires speed, clarity, structured thought, and intense execution.

Ideal candidates will have:

  • Experience in top-tier strategy consulting (MBB or equivalent like Deloitte S&O, Strategy&, EY-Parthenon, LEK, etc.)
  • 10+ years of operational leadership in regulated, scaled, or launch-critical settings
  • Expertise in one or more of the following areas:
    • Securing public approvals or permits
    • Leading physical site launches, vendor management, and scheduling
    • Managing onboarding, provisioning, or internal operations with SLAs
    • Overseeing budgets, forecasts, financial modeling, and multi-entity reporting
  • Proficiency with AI tools to streamline and expedite delivery
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. and willingness to travel about 25% (approximately one week per month)
