What you will be doing

  • Conducting live, interactive coding sessions via Zoom, simplifying complex Java concepts with real-life examples, and engaging storytelling.
  • Supporting and mentoring students, fostering an inclusive and encouraging learning environment.
  • Providing constructive feedback on the curriculum and monitoring student progress.
  • Setting your own schedule and choosing weekly classes that work for your life, with an expectation to spend 10-20 hours per week teaching live classes and coaching students.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Managing other instructors or teaching assistants.
  • Engaging in routine tutoring; your professional expertise will be leveraged to teach practical, real-world skills.
  • Traveling for conferences or meetings, as we operate fully remotely.

Candidate requirements

  • One of the following combinations of education and industry experience:
    • A Bachelor's degree + 3 years of software industry experience
    • A coding boot camp certificate that required at least 900 hours + 4 years of software industry experience
    • A high school diploma/GED + 5 years of software industry experience
  • Proficiency in Java (Java Version 11), Gradle, TestNG, AWS DynamoDB.
  • Excellent public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Ability to clearly explain technical concepts to beginners.
  • Availability at specified times (9 AM, 2 PM, 3 PM, and/or 6 PM PST).
  • Reliable internet connection (minimum 6 Mbps upload speed).
  • Reside in one of the following countries: Bulgaria, Colombia, Costa Rica, Czech Republic, Ecuador, Egypt, Guatemala, Honduras, Hungary, India, Republic of Ireland, Mexico, Nicaragua, Pakistan, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, Uruguay, or Venezuela.
