The Executive Vice President of Technical Product Management has responsibility for leading the technical growth and product differentiation across multiple companies in our portfolio.

We are constantly growing and acquiring new companies and products.  This creates growth opportunities typically only seen in the most explosive startups, but in a profitable company with over 4,000 team members worldwide.

You will make important technical decisions on architecture, coach your team on how to deliver technical specifications which meet the business needs, and coach your team towards continuous improvement.  You will hire, coach and manage 5-15 global Senior Vice Presidents of Technical Product Management each responsible for a critical product line.

Another critical element of this position is your ability to work closely with our F500 customer executives as well as key executives within ESW Capital.  The expectation is that you are a seasoned executive with great English communication skills that can effectively manage executive relationships.



A hiring event is a scheduled online event where all our relevant testing relating to a role is conducted on the same day. Submissions received during the event are graded the following week, and successful candidates notified if they have progressed to the next round which is an online interview with a Hiring Manager.


Hire, manage and coach Senior Vice Presidents of Technical Product Management

Create, standardize and drive an ideation process producing market defining, technology fueled, differentiated products delivering measurable customer value

Establish, monitor and publish KPIs aligned to business priorities

Ensure continuous improvement across KPIs and tie KPI changes to top and bottom line impacts

Set and maintain the quality bar for product specifications favoring simplicity and clarity and removing distractions, over-architecture, and bad design decisions

Synthesize inputs, communicate strategic direction, and validate assumptions with internal and external stakeholders

Establish feasibility with Engineering teams early in the process to avoid delays and last minute scope change


Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related discipline, is mandatory, (M.Sc. or PhD preferred)

5+ years of recent hands-on experience as CTO, Chief Architect or SVP/EVP of Software Engineering

10+ years of hands-on technical development and architecture experience on a commercial software product

A total of 20+ years of technical experience

Have developed and maintained deep technical skills across a variety of technologies and domains

Be able to identify and articulate patterns in unstructured and unorganized content

Have excellent communication skills in written and spoken English

5+ years managing executive level relationships with clients and partners


Every member of the Technical Product Management team goes through an initial 30 day training session to learn how we do Product Management at Crossover, how we structure our specifications, and how we measure the quality of the resulting documentation.  

You will learn valuable techniques to interview subject matter experts; eliciting, distilling and documenting the Important Technical Decisions at a product’s core.  You will learn techniques to simplify product architectures to expose the fundamental patterns. You will learn to create playbooks on when and how to apply technology design patterns.  And you will get daily feedback to accelerate learning and growth far beyond typical classrooms or training programs.

  • How do you perform in the role of VP of engineering when all your teams are remote?

    We use communication tools such as GoToMeeting, Zoom, Skype, and Slack. We also ensure that our processes are well documented in the form of playbooks and have developed a tool, Worksmart Pro, which enables us to keep track of time and applications used. This data allows us to form a diary of how our partners spend their day and coach them on improved productivity.

  • Do you use Agile?

    Like most organizations, we make use of subsets of Agile. The one key difference though is that our teams are highly specialized in the task they do. For example, we have a maintenance team whose only task is to fix bugs on our products. Rather than being product specialists they are process specialists.

  • Do VPs of Engineering actually do hands-on coding in this role?

    No, there is no hands-on work, however, we want people who have been developers in the past. We believe that the best way you can help and communicate with your teams is if you have experienced technical problems yourself.

  • Does a VP of Engineering need to travel in his role?

    A VP of Engineering is not expected to travel as all our management is done remotely.
