Cloud Architect   $100,000 USD/year

Description

If you’re the DevOps engineer who thrives on preventing outages before they happen, loves diving into legacy systems to craft efficient solutions, and enjoys automating repetitive tasks, then this opportunity is for you. We're seeking a DevOps and AWS infrastructure maestro who excels in high-pressure settings demanding 99.9% uptime. You'll handle a diverse array of acquired products, each with its own quirks, as you transition them into a cohesive, scalable AWS environment, complete with monitoring and automation that minimizes incidents.

While many roles focus on maintaining a single stack, ours challenges you to consolidate and refine multiple stacks without disruption. Rather than isolating databases, we merge them strategically to enhance cost-effectiveness and management efficiency across our portfolio. This position isn't for someone content with maintaining the status quo; it's for a visionary who sees a fragmented landscape and immediately begins crafting a better architecture.

You'll be responsible for everything from infrastructure migrations to AI-driven automation, performance tuning, database migration, and cost optimization. Your tasks will include diagnosing and repairing issues, executing seamless cloud migrations with negligible downtime, and automating half of your workload with AI/ML-enhanced workflows. You'll have genuine authority over infrastructure decisions—no waiting on approvals from those unfamiliar with the technical intricacies.

If you're a proactive problem-solver who thrives on streamlining complex systems, this role will be your dream job. If you require extensive guidance, feel overwhelmed by multiple tech stacks, or prefer starting from scratch over organizing chaos, this may not be the right fit. But if you're eager to take the reins in a high-impact infrastructure role with the freedom to build, optimize, and automate at scale, we want to hear from you!

What you will be doing

  • Strategizing and executing intricate infrastructure changes, including transitioning from legacy systems to AWS cloud infrastructure and executing lift-and-shift migrations.
  • Creating and deploying monitoring strategies and automations for monitoring, software deployments, and operational workflows.
  • Engaging in system monitoring, system backups, incident response, database migrations, database configurations, and cost optimization.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Spending your days in Jira and endless status meetings—we value solution-driven individuals, not just problem trackers.
  • Endlessly maintaining outdated systems—you'll have the power to instigate meaningful enhancements.
  • Being hindered by bureaucratic approval chains—you'll have the autonomy to implement immediate fixes to resolve incidents.
  • Being confined to narrow technical silos—this role requires both a wide and deep skill set.
  • Struggling for budget to make critical improvements—we recognize the importance of infrastructure investment.

Key responsibilities

  • Enhance reliability and standardize cloud infrastructure across our expanding product line by implementing robust monitoring, automation, and AWS best practices.

Candidate requirements

  • Extensive AWS infrastructure expertise (our primary platform—experience with other clouds alone is insufficient).
  • Proficient programming skills in Python or JavaScript for developing automation and tooling.
  • Experience managing and migrating production databases using multiple engines (including MySql, Postgres, Oracle, MS-SQL).
  • Advanced proficiency in Docker/Kubernetes.
  • Experience with infrastructure automation tools (Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation).
  • Expertise in Linux systems administration.
