What if the key to unlocking reading for young kids is meeting them where they already live: in gaming culture, where leveling up, persistence, and mastery feel natural?

NextGen Academy is a school built from the ground up for kids who love gaming. Students learn through adaptive software, and adults in the building are coaches and guides. Reading is where many young students need the most hands-on support, and that's where you come in.

You'll own small-group reading instruction for K-2 students. You'll use structured literacy methods and pair them with adaptive apps that track every student's progress in real time. When a student is stuck on decoding, you adjust. When a student breaks through, you celebrate. Your groups are small enough that you know every child's reading level, interests, and what motivates them.

The reward is watching kids who struggled with letter sounds start devouring books and doing it in a school where "leveling up" means something in the classroom, not just on a screen.

Lead learning. Love growing. Apply now.

What you will be doing

  • Design and deliver small-group reading workshops for K-2 students, making phonics learning fun, engaging, and personalized
  • Adapt instruction in real time based on student needs, group reading levels, and engagement cues
  • Lead motivational check-ins with students to encourage advancement in adaptive literacy apps and achieve learning goals
  • Monitor student progress data from adaptive software and use it to differentiate instruction for each reading group
  • Use storytelling, humor, gaming analogies, and positive reinforcement to drive student persistence and overcome resistance

What you will NOT be doing

  • Lecturing in front of a classroom — students learn through self-guided apps and your small-group workshops, not passive instruction
  • Managing a full class of 25+ students — you work with focused reading groups where every student gets your attention
  • Following a rigid, published curriculum — you design your own reading sessions based on real student data
  • Coaching esports or teaching life skills — you are a reading specialist, focused exclusively on literacy
  • Battling outdated teaching methods — this school was built from scratch around adaptive technology and student engagement

Key responsibilities

Help K-2 students rapidly improve their reading through small-group workshops and adaptive software in a gaming-themed school where kids love showing up every day.

  • 2+ years of experience delivering small-group reading instruction to K-2 students or struggling readers
  • Demonstrated ability to assess student reading levels and design differentiated instruction independently
  • Enthusiastic about video games and gaming culture, even if not a gamer yourself
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship
