Director of Academic Excellence   $400,000 USD/year

Description

You've shaped a clear academic vision and taken full ownership of the results. You've driven execution directly, not managed from the sidelines. When it comes to learning science, you haven't merely explored—you've built real systems, generated measurable outcomes, and earned credibility to speak publicly about what works. If this describes your experience, 2 Hour Learning seeks its strategic academic leader.

At 2 Hour Learning, we have developed a framework enabling students to learn at twice the speed in only two hours each day. AI-driven tutoring, mastery-based advancement, and structural innovation beyond traditional classrooms produce these results. The impact is measurable. We now require a leader capable of aligning execution across varied school environments, elevating academic standards, and serving as the authoritative voice for a movement rooted in evidence-based learning science.

This role is not theoretical. It is an operational leadership mandate. You will direct academic strategy in action, establish rigorous standards, surface execution shortfalls, and develop high-performing teams to achieve tangible outcomes. You will convert our scientific principles into disciplined operations and advocate for this approach on a global scale.

What you will be doing

  • Designing academic frameworks that transform learning science into actionable direction for curriculum development, motivation architecture, and application interfaces.
  • Conducting academic execution reviews with Heads of Academics to confirm school teams remain aligned, accountable, and results-focused.
  • Integrating data analysis, stakeholder interviews, and direct observation into comprehensive academic ecosystem assessments that identify critical barriers to accelerated learning and recommend concrete interventions.
  • Ensuring strategic coherence through structured planning, iterative feedback, and milestone accountability to sustain focus on learning objectives.
  • Serving as the principal representative of 2 Hour Learning in high-profile contexts, including keynote presentations and engagements with Ministries of Education, advancing systemic transformation in global educational thinking.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Adjusting individual curriculum elements without producing organization-wide impact.
  • Producing theoretical research disconnected from measurable student outcomes or operational execution.
  • Transferring accountability for results to mid-level managers or external advisors.
  • Depending on institutional prestige or conceptual arguments to win over critical audiences.

Key responsibilities

Expand and strengthen 2 Hour Learning's validated academic model by aligning execution across all school sites, raising leadership quality standards, and establishing yourself as the authoritative spokesperson for a movement built on rigorous science and documented results.

Candidate requirements

  • Advanced degree (Masters or Ph.D) in Learning Science, Educational Psychology, Instructional Design, or a related field
  • At least 7 years in academic or EdTech leadership roles, leading a team of staff/employees (not an informal peer leader role, such as grade-level lead); you must have been responsible for hiring, monitoring performance, coaching, and making termination decisions
  • Experience driving learning outcomes for students and upholding student performance standards
  • Experience applying AI or emerging technologies to improve education, such as through personalized learning, adaptive learning, AI agents, etc.
  • Experience managing academic teams of 50+ people (e.g., the teams you managed directly executed curriculum, instruction, or assessment)
  • Experience interacting directly with students, teachers, or school leaders in a professional setting
