Director of Academic Excellence   $400,000 USD/year

Description

You've shaped an academic vision and taken ownership of its success. You've led visibly, not from the sidelines. And when it comes to learning science, you're not experimenting—you've constructed something tangible, produced measurable results, and earned credibility to present that work publicly. If that describes you, 2 Hour Learning is seeking its academic leader.

At 2 Hour Learning, we've developed a system in which students achieve twice the learning velocity in only two hours per day. AI-driven tutoring, mastery-based advancement, and a fundamental rethinking of traditional classroom design produce these results. Performance has been outstanding. We now need a leader capable of aligning execution across varied school environments, elevating academic leadership standards, and serving as the public advocate for a model rooted in sound learning science.

This is not a position for theoretical exploration. It's an operational leadership charge. You will own the academic strategy in action, establish precise standards, diagnose execution shortfalls, and guide high-performing teams toward meaningful outcomes. You will convert our scientific underpinnings into execution discipline and advocate for this approach globally.

What you will be doing

  • Building academic frameworks that convert learning science into actionable direction for curriculum design, motivation architecture, and application development.
  • Conducting academic execution reviews with Heads of Academics to confirm school teams remain aligned, accountable, and consistently producing results.
  • Integrating data, stakeholder interviews, and direct observation into academic ecosystem assessments that highlight the most critical obstacles to accelerated learning and recommend concrete interventions.
  • Ensuring strategic alignment via planning cycles, feedback mechanisms, and milestone monitoring to sustain concentration on student learning objectives.
  • Serving as the public face of 2 Hour Learning at the highest forums, including keynote presentations and engagements with Ministries of Education, influencing global perceptions of schooling.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Making incremental adjustments to standalone curriculum initiatives without achieving system-wide impact.
  • Producing theoretical research disconnected from student outcomes or operational execution.
  • Transferring accountability for performance to mid-level managers or external advisors.
  • Depending on institutional prestige or conceptual arguments to win over doubtful audiences.

Key responsibilities

Expand and refine 2 Hour Learning's validated academic model by harmonizing execution across school sites, raising leadership standards, and serving as the authoritative voice of a movement founded on rigorous science and demonstrated results.

Candidate requirements

  • Advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) in Learning Science, Educational Psychology, Instructional Design, or a related field
  • 7+ years leading academic or EdTech teams with evidence of exceptional learning outcomes
  • Proven experience applying AI or technology to accelerate learning
  • Track record of public thought leadership such as media, keynotes, books, or advising
  • Strong performance management skills with the ability to hold elite peers to a high bar
  • Fluent in interpreting data to diagnose learning issues and direct interventions
  • Comfortable engaging directly with students, parents, and school leaders

Nice to have

  • Founded or led an innovative school model, lab school, or high-performing EdTech venture
  • Experience navigating cultural, political, or international education contexts
  • Deep familiarity with Bloom's 2 Sigma research and other mastery learning frameworks
