Director of Academic Excellence   $400,000 USD/year

Description

You've established a clear academic vision in the past and taken full ownership of results. You've led teams directly, not from the sidelines. When it comes to learning science, you're not experimenting—you've created proven systems, delivered measurable outcomes, and earned credibility to share your work publicly. If that describes you, 2 Hour Learning is seeking its academic leader.

At 2 Hour Learning, we operate a model in which students achieve twice the learning in only two hours each day. AI-driven tutoring, mastery-based advancement, and a fundamental reimagining of traditional classroom design produce these results. The outcomes speak for themselves. We now need a leader who can align execution across varied school implementations, elevate academic leadership standards, and serve as the authoritative voice for a movement anchored in evidence-based learning science.

This is not a theoretical position. It's an operational leadership charge. You will define and implement academic strategy, establish rigorous standards, surface performance gaps, and mentor high-caliber teams to achieve tangible results. You'll convert our scientific principles into executable discipline and advocate for this model on the global stage.

What you will be doing

  • Designing academic frameworks that convert learning science into actionable direction for curriculum design, student motivation systems, and application development.
  • Conducting academic execution reviews with Heads of Academics to ensure school teams remain aligned, accountable, and consistently achieving outcomes.
  • Integrating data analysis, stakeholder interviews, and direct observation into comprehensive academic ecosystem assessments that identify the most critical obstacles to accelerated learning and recommend concrete interventions.
  • Ensuring strategic coherence through structured planning, iterative feedback mechanisms, and milestone monitoring to sustain focus on learning objectives.
  • Serving as the principal external representative of 2 Hour Learning, delivering keynote presentations and engaging with Ministries of Education to influence global perspectives on education.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Working on disconnected curriculum initiatives without producing broad systemic impact.
  • Producing theoretical research that lacks direct connection to student performance or operational execution.
  • Transferring accountability for outcomes to middle management or external advisors.
  • Depending on institutional prestige or academic theory to convince doubtful audiences.

Key responsibilities

Expand and refine 2 Hour Learning's validated academic model by aligning execution across school sites, raising leadership performance standards, and establishing yourself as the authoritative public advocate for a movement founded on rigorous science and demonstrated results.

Candidate requirements

  • Advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) in Learning Science, Educational Psychology, Instructional Design, or a related field
  • 7+ years leading academic or EdTech teams with evidence of exceptional learning outcomes
  • Proven experience applying AI or technology to accelerate learning
  • Track record of public thought leadership such as media, keynotes, books, or advising
  • Strong performance management skills with the ability to hold elite peers to a high bar
  • Fluent in interpreting data to diagnose learning issues and direct interventions
  • Comfortable engaging directly with students, parents, and school leaders

Nice to have

  • Founded or led an innovative school model, lab school, or high-performing EdTech venture
  • Experience navigating cultural, political, or international education contexts
  • Deep familiarity with Bloom's 2 Sigma research and other mastery learning frameworks
