Director of Academic Excellence   $400,000 USD/year

Description

Are you a visionary leader with a proven track record of transforming academic landscapes? Have you spearheaded initiatives that not only challenge traditional learning paradigms but also deliver measurable results? If so, 2 Hour Learning seeks a dynamic leader to guide our academic journey and redefine education as we know it.

At 2 Hour Learning, we’re revolutionizing education with a model that enables students to master subjects twice as fast, using AI tutors and mastery-based progression. Our approach breaks away from conventional methods, and the outcomes speak for themselves. We are searching for a leader to elevate our academic execution, enhance leadership, and voice our groundbreaking approach to the world.

This role demands more than theoretical knowledge. It requires strategic leadership, where you'll craft and implement academic strategies, establish standards, and lead elite teams to achieve tangible results. You'll be the ambassador of our model, translating scientific principles into practical applications and advocating for systemic educational reform globally.

What you will be doing

  • Developing academic strategies that transform learning science into actionable curriculum, motivation systems, and app designs.
  • Overseeing academic performance reviews across Heads of Academics to ensure alignment and accountability within school teams.
  • Analyzing data, interviews, and observations to create comprehensive academic reviews, identifying key barriers to learning and suggesting effective interventions.
  • Ensuring strategic coherence through meticulous planning and feedback mechanisms, keeping student learning objectives at the forefront.
  • Serving as a representative of 2 Hour Learning on various platforms, from keynote addresses to discussions with educational authorities, advocating for a new educational paradigm.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Engaging in isolated curriculum projects without contributing to broader educational changes.
  • Producing theoretical research that lacks practical application or impact on student outcomes.
  • Shifting performance accountability to middle management or external consultants.
  • Relying solely on reputation or theoretical concepts to influence stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

Expand and enhance 2 Hour Learning’s effective academic model by integrating efforts across schools, elevating leadership standards, and becoming the face of a scientifically-backed education movement that achieves real-world success.

Candidate requirements

  • Advanced degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) in Learning Science, Educational Psychology, Instructional Design, or a related field
  • 7+ years of experience leading academic or EdTech teams with demonstrated success in learning outcomes
  • Proven expertise in utilizing AI or technology to enhance learning processes
  • Recognized public thought leader with experience in media, keynotes, publications, or advisory roles
  • Exceptional performance management abilities, capable of setting high standards for top-tier peers
  • Adept at interpreting data to identify learning challenges and guide interventions
  • Proficient in engaging with students, parents, and educational leaders

Nice to have

  • Experience founding or leading an innovative school model, lab school, or successful EdTech initiative
  • Expertise in navigating diverse cultural, political, or international educational environments
  • Comprehensive understanding of Bloom’s 2 Sigma research and mastery learning frameworks
