Director of Academic Excellence   $400,000 USD/year

Description

You've shaped academic strategy, owned outcomes, and led from the front—not from a distance. When it comes to learning science, you've gone beyond theory: you've built proven systems, delivered measurable results, and earned the credibility to represent your work on the largest stages. If that describes you, 2 Hour Learning is seeking its Director of Academic Excellence.

2 Hour Learning has developed a model enabling students to learn twice as quickly in just two hours per day. This is made possible through AI-powered tutoring, mastery-based progression, and a complete rethinking of traditional classroom design. The outcomes speak for themselves. We now need a leader to align execution across varied school models, elevate academic standards, and serve as the public ambassador for a movement built on rigorous learning science.

This is a leadership mandate, not an academic theory position. You will direct academic strategy in action, establish clear performance standards, surface execution challenges, and coach high-performing teams toward measurable impact. You will bridge our scientific foundation with operational rigor and champion this model before audiences worldwide.

What you will be doing

  • Developing academic frameworks that convert learning science principles into actionable guidance for curriculum design, motivational systems, and application development.
  • Conducting academic execution reviews with Heads of Academics to ensure school teams remain aligned, accountable, and performance-driven.
  • Analyzing data, interviews, and direct observation to produce academic ecosystem reviews that identify the most critical barriers to accelerated learning and recommend targeted interventions.
  • Ensuring strategic alignment by establishing planning cycles, feedback mechanisms, and milestone tracking that keep student learning outcomes front and center.
  • Serving as the public face of 2 Hour Learning at premier forums—from keynote presentations to meetings with Ministries of Education—advancing systemic transformation in global education.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Engaging in isolated curriculum initiatives that fail to create system-wide impact.
  • Producing theoretical research disconnected from measurable student outcomes or operational execution.
  • Offloading accountability for performance to mid-level managers or external consultants.
  • Depending on institutional reputation or abstract theory to win over critical stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

Expand and strengthen 2 Hour Learning's established academic model by aligning execution across school sites, raising leadership performance standards, and serving as the authoritative public voice of a movement founded on rigorous science and demonstrated results.

Candidate requirements

  • Advanced degree (Masters or Ph.D) in Learning Science, Educational Psychology, Instructional Design, or a related field
  • At least 7 years in academic or EdTech leadership roles, leading a team of staff/employees (not an informal peer leader role, such as grade-level lead); you must have been responsible for hiring, monitoring performance, coaching, and making termination decisions
  • Experience driving learning outcomes for students and upholding student performance standards
  • Experience applying AI or emerging technologies to improve education, such as through personalized learning, adaptive learning, AI agents, etc.
  • Experience managing academic teams of 50+ people (e.g., the teams you managed directly executed curriculum, instruction, or assessment)
  • Experience interacting directly with students, teachers, or school leaders in a professional setting
