Sports Mentor   $150,000 USD/year

Description

  • $150,000 annual salary, distributed weekly. Full health, dental, and vision coverage begins on day one
  • Austin, TX (on-site position)
  • Relocation assistance available

Having competed at the pinnacle of your sport—as an Olympian, World Champion, or NCAA Division I First Team All-American—you understand what it takes to succeed at the highest level. The question is: can you transform that elite experience into concrete coaching methods that elevate students into exceptional performers?

Texas Sports Academy is where your competitive career becomes a platform for building champions. This isn't about observing from the sidelines—it's about actively mentoring and challenging students to exceed their own expectations daily. You won't simply recount your athletic journey. Instead, you'll convert championship-level discipline into practical motivational tools, deliver resilience training through immersive workshops, and lead rigorous practices where every participant is measured against elite standards.

Austin provides year-round access to outdoor training facilities, a dynamic sports community, and a purpose-driven environment where your competitive background serves as the blueprint for developing future leaders.

Lead with intention. Drive transformation through engagement. Submit your application today.

What you will be doing

  • Conducting intensive one-on-one motivation sessions that convert your competitive discipline into concrete, executable coaching techniques
  • Delivering dynamic morning assemblies designed to energize the entire student population
  • Directing interactive life skills workshops where you guide students through practical exercises in resilience, leadership, and objective-setting
  • Overseeing structured afternoon athletic training that exemplifies championship principles: creating drills, demanding maximum effort, refining technique, and instilling perseverance and collaboration through athletic competition (rather than merely supervising activities)
  • Maintaining continuous engagement with all students across the daily schedule: moving through spaces during independent study periods, intervening to inspire when you observe a student struggling, and generating instructional opportunities that catalyze transformative insights

What you will NOT be doing

  • Observing passively from the periphery: this position demands active participation. You'll be directly involved with students, facilitating sessions, and responding to situations as they unfold.
  • Delivering conventional academic instruction or adhering to prescribed lesson plans: students engage with content through adaptive software. Your focus is life mentorship, inspiration, and developing transferable skills through athletics and guidance.

Candidate requirements

  • We're seeking former elite athletes who have proven themselves at the very top of sport — Olympians, World Champions, pro players in the NFL, NBA, MLB, MLS, or NHL, or NCAA Division I All-Americans
  • Bachelor's degree in any subject
  • Proven experience using sport to mentor and coach life skills
  • Demonstrated motivational leadership in athletic, academic, or professional settings
  • Legal right to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship
  • Willing to live in or relocate to Austin, TX
