If you've reached the pinnacle of competitive sport—Olympic Games, World Championships, Division I First Team All-American honors—you understand what it takes to perform at the highest level. The question is: can you turn that experience into concrete coaching methods that drive students toward excellence?

Texas Sports Academy is where your next challenge begins—not as a figurehead, but as an active coach who elevates students daily by holding them to championship standards. You won't simply recount your athletic journey. Instead, you'll convert elite-level discipline into practical motivational tools, deliver resilience training through interactive sessions, and lead dynamic practices where every participant is expected to meet top-tier expectations.

Austin provides year-round access to outdoor training environments, a vibrant athletic community, and a purpose-centered culture where your elite background directly fuels the development of tomorrow's leaders.

Lead with intention. Drive real change. Submit your application today.

What you will be doing

  • Conducting proactive one-on-one coaching sessions that convert your competitive athletic background into clear, practical strategies for student success
  • Directing high-impact morning assemblies that energize and engage all students
  • Delivering interactive life skills workshops where you guide students through exercises in resilience, leadership, and goal achievement
  • Leading structured afternoon sports training sessions that embody championship principles: creating drills, demanding effort, refining technique, and instilling grit and collaboration through athletic activity (not merely overseeing recreation)
  • Actively connecting with every student throughout each day: moving through the space during independent study periods, stepping in to inspire when a student encounters obstacles, and seizing opportunities to spark transformative insights

What you will NOT be doing

  • Serving as a passive figurehead: this is an active coaching position. You will be on the ground, directly engaging students, leading sessions, and making real-time interventions.
  • Instructing conventional academic content or adhering to a set curriculum: students use adaptive learning platforms for academics. Your focus is life coaching, motivation, and building meta-skills through athletics and mentorship.

Candidate requirements

  • We are looking for former elite-level athletes who have competed at the highest tier of sport — Olympic athletes, World Champions, professional players in the NFL, NBA, MLB, MLS, or NHL, or NCAA Division I All-Americans
  • Bachelor's degree in any field
  • Demonstrated experience leveraging sport to mentor others and develop life skills
  • Proven ability to provide motivational leadership in athletic, academic, or professional environments
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. without requiring visa sponsorship
  • Willingness to reside in or relocate to Austin, TX
