You will facilitate focused reading workshops in small groups at a school designed around the passions of young gamers, combining phonics-based instruction, adaptive literacy technology, and personalized coaching to inspire K-2 students to embrace reading with the same enthusiasm they have for games.

What you will be doing
- Create and facilitate focused reading workshops for K-2 students in small groups, making phonics instruction engaging, enjoyable, and tailored to individual needs
- Adjust teaching approaches dynamically based on student performance, group literacy levels, and behavioral signals
- Conduct motivational coaching sessions with students to promote progress in adaptive literacy platforms and meet learning milestones
- Track student achievement data from adaptive tools and apply insights to customize instruction for each group
- Employ storytelling, humor, gaming metaphors, and positive feedback to sustain student effort and address reluctance
Candidate requirements
- Available to work on-site at NextGen Academy in Austin, TX
- Bachelor's degree in elementary education, reading, or a related discipline
- Certification in structured literacy methods such as Orton-Gillingham, Wilson Reading System, or comparable evidence-based phonics frameworks
- 2+ years of experience providing small-group reading instruction to K-2 students or learners facing reading challenges
- Proven capacity to evaluate student reading abilities and develop differentiated instruction autonomously
- Excited about video games and gaming culture, whether or not you are an active gamer
- Authorized to work legally in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship
