Youth Mentor   $100,000 USD/year

Description

  • On-site position in Springfield, MA (relocation assistance available)
  • $100,000 annual salary paid weekly. Health, dental, and vision coverage begins day one

Can you spot a student who has reached 99% of their goal and refuse to let them settle? The most caring thing you can do for a young person at 99% is decline to call it finished. If that expectation feels uncomfortable, this position will not be a fit. If it energizes you because you understand that maintaining high standards is how you demonstrate belief in a student's capability, continue reading.

Alpha operates differently from conventional schools. Students complete a full day's worth of academics in approximately two hours using adaptive software. No traditional lectures. No printed textbooks. Your role centers on what technology cannot replicate: developing life skills in Pre-K through 8th grade students—skills like public speaking, sustained attention, and constructive feedback exchange. You will spend half your time facilitating hands-on workshops using prepared playbooks and narrative techniques. The remaining half involves meeting with students individually or in small groups, examining their adaptive learning app performance through Coachbot analytics, and ensuring they reach 100% of their weekly objectives. Mastery is demonstrated through Test2Pass assessments, not participation metrics.

This position is selective. Your first year focuses on mastering the system: workshop delivery, motivation techniques, mastery verification, and demonstrating you can hold every student accountable to 100% goal completion. Succeed in this and advancement to Lead Guide becomes available. You must bring warmth, commanding presence, and unwavering standards. Submit your application now.

What you will be doing

  • Facilitating one-hour life skill sessions focused on public speaking, sustained attention, teamwork, and feedback skills, adjusting your delivery and energy for Pre-K through 8th grade learners
  • Conducting daily individual and small-group coaching conversations where you examine each student's adaptive learning app data (via Coachbot analytics), establish objectives, and ensure they achieve 100% of their weekly benchmarks
  • Overseeing and scoring Test2Pass evaluations to verify genuine mastery of each life skill, rather than simple attendance
  • Implementing focused interventions when a student's academic progress or engagement declines—identifying underlying issues and creating a path forward
  • Cultivating authentic connections with every student so they develop sufficient trust to receive coaching during moments of resistance, distraction, and uncertainty

What you will NOT be doing

  • Providing traditional academic lectures or direct subject instruction (students master core content through adaptive applications, not instructor-led lessons)
  • Developing original lesson plans or designing curriculum (Alpha supplies structured life skills playbooks; your responsibility is executing them with compelling energy and narrative)
  • Handling parent communication or administrative tasks (Campus Leads manage these areas; your focus remains on student development)
  • Evaluating homework assignments or preparing students for standardized testing (these elements do not exist in this model)
  • Operating independently without collaboration (you join a campus team including Lead Guides, Campus Leads, and colleagues who provide mutual feedback and accountability)

Key responsibilities

Guarantee that every student in your group finds joy in school, achieves mastery of critical life skills, and completes 100% of their academic objectives through adaptive learning technology.

Candidate requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in any discipline.
  • 3+ years of direct experience with Pre-K–8 students (in teaching, coaching, counseling, or youth program management roles).
  • Demonstrated experience motivating or coaching Pre-K–8 students toward academic, behavioral, athletic, or extracurricular objectives, with at least one concrete example you can articulate (including the objective, your actions, and the result).
  • Comfort with a coaching-focused model where academic content delivery is fully managed by the learning platform. Your function is motivation and guidance, not core subject instruction.
  • Regular use of generative AI tools (such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude).
  • Able to work on-site at Alpha's Springfield, MA campus (relocation assistance provided).
  • Authorization to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship.

Nice to have

  • Background in youth sports coaching, camp facilitation, or after-school programming where you held direct responsibility for driving children toward concrete goals.
  • History of significant personal accomplishment (academic distinctions, competitive sports participation, or leadership positions requiring consistent excellence).
  • Instinctive storytelling skills: you can maintain the attention of Pre-K–8 students for an hour without volume escalation.
  • Success engaging disengaged or reluctant students and converting them into active contributors.
  • Experience supporting students who receive special education services.
