IMPORTANT NOTE: This is an in-person role located at our campuses in Austin & Brownsville, Texas.
Are you one of the 200,000 students per year who graduated with a liberal arts degree and a basket full of dreams, only to find yourself underpaid, underemployed, and underwhelmed? Does it feel like every HR rep in the country looks at your resume and asks: “How is your expertise in English Literature going to help my business?” On average, undergraduates expect to make $104k per year after graduating, but a liberal arts or humanities major will only net students a paltry $32-38k per year—barely enough to avoid moving back into your parents’ house.
If you graduated from an elite university just to find that your major is harshly undervalued by the job market, there’s a place for you at Alpha. We believe the skills that got you into and through a prestigious degree program (i.e. strong work ethic, focus, and the ability to hold yourself to a high standard of excellence) are valuable. For that reason alone, we’re willing to invest in you. If you want to break into the startup world but are worried that your background isn’t quite right, this is your opportunity.
Alpha is building the Stanford of K-12 education. We are a private equity-backed EdTech startup with a life-changing value proposition for students and plans to expand rapidly. We make three promises to students and their families: students will love school, students will learn 3-5x faster through the use of adaptive learning apps and learning science principles, and students will learn valuable life skills to supplement their academic training.
In this role, you will lead inspiring life skills workshops, guide students through a rigorous academic workload, and help them tap into their love of learning. Our students will benefit profoundly from their exposure to high academic achievers like you. By the end of the program, we will help you advance your career in the direction of your choice, whether at Alpha or beyond. You do not need any background in education to be considered for the role.
