Associate Dean of Parents   $200,000 USD/year

Description

LOCATION NOTE: This is an on-site role in the cities listed below, with local travel as needed. Relocation assistance is available for candidates with firm relocation plans and timeline.

You thrive in startup chaos. You've successfully worked with high-net-worth clients who expect white-glove service. You genuinely believe AI can revolutionize education and relish defending that belief to skeptics. If any of that sounds uncomfortable, this role isn't for you.

Alpha isn't a traditional school. We're a tech startup proving that every child is gifted. Students here finish core academics in just two hours a day using AI-powered apps, then spend the rest of their time on real-world skills: public speaking, critical thinking, team challenges, and projects that actually matter. No lectures. No busywork. Just accelerated learning and top 1% results nationwide. Parents expect concierge-level service. You'll defend this model constantly against screen time concerns, traditional education skeptics, and "this sounds too good to be true" pushback.

In year zero through year one, this is an enrollment sales role. You own the full funnel from inquiry to signed enrollment agreement, with conversion targets and CRM management. We won't open a campus with fewer than 25 enrolled students. Hitting that number is your job. You'll host powerful info sessions, conduct one-on-one tours, follow up relentlessly, and close deals. Once you reach 25 students and an admissions director joins, your focus shifts to being the campus's primary parent-facing leader. You'll build loyalty, resolve issues with white-glove service, and turn satisfied parents into outspoken advocates who recruit others.

This is a high-trust, high-autonomy role with clear stakes. You'll work as a solo operator without robust administrative support, marketing assistance, or well-established playbooks. Plans change based on data. Processes are developing. You'll build them. You'll spend most of your day outside the building (coffee meetings, lunch networking, Chamber of Commerce events) rather than behind a desk. You'll be visible during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up. You'll attend evening parent events and occasional weekend student activities. One misaligned family in a cohort of 25 can derail everything, so saying "no" to wrong-fit families is as important as enrolling right-fit ones.

The reward? You'll witness transformations most educators never see: skeptical parents becoming fierce advocates, shy students presenting confidently to adults, families choosing your campus over elite private schools. You'll build something from nothing and own the results.

If you believe most schools are failing kids and there's a better way, this is your shot to prove it.

HIRING FOR THESE LOCATIONS:

  • CA: Santa Barbara, Palo Alto, & Piedmont (East Bay)
  • GA: Roswell (Atlanta)
  • IL: Chicago
  • MD: Bethesda
  • TX: Austin & Brownsville
  • VA: Chantilly
  • WA: Kirkland (Seattle)

What you will be doing

  • Own the enrollment sales funnel in year 0-1, from inquiry to signed agreement, with conversion targets and CRM management until reaching 25 students
  • Host info sessions and campus tours that convert curious parents while selectively rejecting wrong-fit families (saying "no" is as important as saying "yes")
  • Serve as primary contact for high-net-worth families paying $40K+ annually, providing white-glove service that turns parents into advocates
  • Build visibility through daily on-site presence during morning drop-off (7-9am) and afternoon pick-up (2-4pm), plus spending most days outside the building in coffee meetings, networking, and community partnerships
  • Defend Alpha's AI-powered model to skeptical parents who question screen time and non-traditional education
  • Activate parent champions through exceptional experiences that make families want to recruit their friends

What you will NOT be doing

  • Working predictable 9-5 hours (early mornings, late afternoons, and evening events are required)
  • Following established playbooks and procedures (you'll develop systems within a startup environment)
  • Relying on administrative staff, marketing teams, or enrollment support (you're a solo operator)
  • Accepting every family who applies (selectivity is a core competency)
  • Sitting behind a desk (this role requires daily community presence and relationship-building)

Key responsibilities

Own enrollment sales in year 0-1, then shift to building parent relationships that create advocates and drive word-of-mouth growth.

Candidate requirements

  • Currently reside within a commuting distance of one of these campuses OR willing to relocate within 60 days (preference for existing local connections): Santa Barbara, CA; Palo Alto, CA; Piedmont, CA; Roswell, GA; Chicago, IL; Bethesda, MD; Austin, TX; Brownsville, TX; Chantilly, VA; or Kirkland, WA.
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
  • 5+ years in a role that involved working with high-net worth clients in a consultative sales or high-touch customer experience role (such as private school enrollment/admissions, luxury sales, hospitality, philanthropy, etc.)
  • Demonstrated enrollment/sales funnel success with conversion metrics you can discuss
  • Executive presence and communication skills to earn trust and guide sophisticated decision-making with affluent families
  • Entrepreneurial self-starter comfortable as a solo operator in a startup environment
  • Genuine enthusiasm for AI-powered education, with comfort defending the model to skeptical parents who question screen time and non-traditional approaches
  • Availability for flexible hours: early mornings (7-9am), late afternoons (2-4pm), evening events (2-3x/month), and weekend activities

Nice to have

Exceptional candidates will have at least one of the items below:

  • Existing network in the local affluent community with established relationships
  • Private school or independent school enrollment/admissions leadership experience with proven results
  • Sales, business development, or fundraising track record with high-value clients
  • Previous startup or early-stage company experience navigating ambiguity and rapid change
  • Event planning and community organizing experience creating memorable experiences
  • Real estate, development, or major gift fundraising experience working with UHNW individuals
