VP of Microschool Expansion   $200,000 USD/year

Description

If you’ve ever built a school, hospital, or retail location from scratch and thought, “This could be done faster...and better,” keep reading.

At 2 Hour Learning, we’re building the fastest school model in the country. But we can’t launch a new school without approval. That means licenses, permits, and filings have to be done right and done fast. That’s where you come in. You’ll figure out what’s required, file everything in the right order, and make sure approvals land on time. You’ll work with AI tools and automation platforms, but you’ll also pick up the phone, chase down contractors, and troubleshoot the edge cases that bots can’t handle.

This role is for someone who thrives on complexity and urgency. You’ll work inside a high-speed organization with unlimited resources and support, where speed is the norm and quality is non-negotiable. You’ll use AI tools to shortcut bureaucracy, compress permitting timelines, and ship outcomes, not just paperwork.

If you want to be the person who turns “not yet approved” into “ready to launch,” this is your job.

What you will be doing

  • Coordinating architects, contractors, and legal teams to secure all required construction and education-operation permits.
  • Navigating municipal permitting and inspection processes across jurisdictions — compressing timelines and eliminating blockers.
  • Preparing and submitting full approval packages: permits, applications, regulatory filings, inspection documentation.
  • Managing progress and compliance risk across all projects — with real-time visibility and zero surprises.
  • Traveling to sites (~75%) to meet directly with local officials, inspectors, and vendors to keep work moving.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Waiting on others to escalate issues or complete filings — you’ll own the end-to-end outcome.
  • Working from behind a desk all day — this is a field-execution role, not a back-office one.
  • Following a static, jurisdiction-by-jurisdiction playbook — you’ll be creating solutions where none exist.
  • Accepting delays as inevitable — speed and precision are the job.
  • Relying on legacy tools or manual tracking — you’ll be expected to automate and iterate constantly.

Key responsibilities

Secure full legal and physical authorization to operate schools across jurisdictions faster and more completely than traditional permitting processes allow.

Candidate requirements

  • Based in the U.S. and authorized to work without visa sponsorship.
  • Willing and able to travel ~75% of the time across U.S. cities and states.
  • 5+ years leading permitting, construction, or facilities expansion projects involving physical assets and regulatory approvals.
  • 5+ years managing multiple contractors per project across jurisdictions.
  • Proven track record of projects completed ahead of schedule with full compliance.
  • Experience presenting updates to both technical and executive stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ownership — you were the single point of contact for project delivery and resolution.
  • AI-native instincts — you use automation and iteration to move fast.
  • Written communication that is exact, usable, and trusted by leadership.
  • Exceptional regulatory judgment — you know when to escalate, clarify, or push back.

Nice to have

  • Background in construction management, education operations, or multi-site retail expansion.
  • Experience building or optimizing AI tools for permitting, compliance, or regulatory workflows.
  • Prior work with fire marshals, building inspectors, and education authorities.
