Microschool Operations Specialist   $100,000 USD/year

Description

You’re not here to shuffle papers — you’re here to open real schools.

At 2 Hour Learning, we’re redesigning education to give students their time back. Our model compresses a full school day into two focused hours using AI-enabled personalization, so kids can spend their afternoons building real-world skills, not just sitting in classrooms. But before any of that magic happens, a school needs to open — legally, safely, and on time. That’s where you come in.

In this role, you won’t be pushing policy or managing from a distance. You’ll be on the ground (and in the air), turning a lease into a launch: researching local permits, calling inspectors, chasing down approvals, coordinating contractors, and using AI tools to get schools open weeks faster than anyone thought possible. You’ll work alongside seasoned operators and construction teams — not from a cubicle, but from active job sites and city offices, unlocking the kind of wins you can point to and say, “That school opened because of me.”

This job is built for a fast learner who wants more than just “experience.” You’ll ship work that matters, take ownership early, and grow fast. If you’re the kind of person who gets a rush from turning chaos into checklists and calls into approvals, we want to meet you.

What you will be doing

  • Researching local requirements and turning red tape into clear action plans using AI tools and official sources
  • Preparing and submitting clean, complete filings — licenses, inspections, and exemptions — and tracking them to approval
  • Calling clerks, coordinating with contractors, and keeping construction timelines aligned with city deadlines
  • Updating trackers and dashboards so teams know what’s done, what’s blocked, and what’s next
  • Traveling 3-4 days a week across U.S. cities to move school openings forward on the ground

What you will NOT be doing

  • Sitting behind a screen guessing at regulations — you’ll verify directly from primary sources
  • Waiting for someone else to tell you the next step — this role rewards initiative, not passivity
  • Wasting time writing boilerplate — we use AI to speed up clarity, not generate fluff
  • Getting stuck in abstract strategy — this is execution work with real deadlines and visible wins
  • Living in airports — you’ll travel often, but it’s targeted, purposeful, and costs are fully covered

Key responsibilities

Unlock compliant, on-time campus launches by combining AI-enabled research, construction coordination, and high-agency relationship management across jurisdictions.

Candidate requirements

  • Based in the U.S. and authorized to work without visa sponsorship
  • Willing to travel 60-80% of the time across U.S. cities and states
  • Demonstrated use of AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT, Perplexity) for research, planning, or communication
  • Confident communicator — warm on the phone, clear in writing, effective with stakeholders
  • Track record of meeting or exceeding deadlines in fast-paced environments
  • Detail-obsessed — every form, signature, and follow-up is on point
  • High learning velocity — quickly understands new regulatory systems, processes, or tools
  • Comfortable juggling projects, timelines, and external partners simultaneously

Nice to have

  • Experience in construction-adjacent, operations-heavy, or compliance-adjacent roles (internships count)
  • Background in public policy, business, communications, or legal studies
  • Past experience solving messy logistical problems in jobs, internships, or volunteer roles
