Associate Dean of Parents - NYC   $200,000 USD/year

Description

If you’ve ever been trusted to guide a New York family through a high-stakes, highly personal decision, this role was written for you.

Alpha is a private K–12 school based in Lower Manhattan, serving families who expect clarity, judgment, and follow-through. As we grow our campus, we are placing a senior, on-site parent leader in New York City to own these relationships end to end—before enrollment, after enrollment, and through every moment where trust is tested. This is a highly visible, relationship-driven role for someone fluent in New York’s high-expectation family landscape and comfortable operating where reputation matters.

Alpha is not a traditional school. Students complete core academics in just two hours a day using AI-powered learning apps, then spend the rest of the day building real-world skills—communication, leadership, critical thinking, and execution. This model produces top 1% outcomes nationwide. It also demands a different kind of parent partnership, one grounded in clarity, credibility, and conviction.

You will serve as the primary liaison for both prospective and enrolled families on campus. You’ll lead high-stakes conversations, host tightly run info sessions, manage nuanced concerns, and convert serious interest into enrollment and advocacy. Just as important, you’ll protect academic staff time by owning the parent relationship end-to-end: before, during, and after enrollment.

This is not a scripted admissions role or a passive community position. You will be highly visible, deeply embedded, and accountable for outcomes. If sophisticated NYC clients trust you because you are precise, discreet, and effective, and you believe most schools are underserving families, this role gives you real authority to act.

Location: Lower Manhattan (Financial District)
Work model: Full-time, on-site with frequent local events and meetings

What you will be doing

  • Owning the full relationship with NYC families from first inquiry through enrollment, retention, and long-term advocacy
  • Leading high-impact info sessions and 1:1 conversations that guide families through complex, multi-meeting decisions
  • Serving as the primary point of contact for parent concerns, feedback, and confidential issues—resolving them decisively and professionally
  • Building enrollment momentum through on-site presence, targeted outreach, and deep integration into the local parent network
  • Activating satisfied families as advocates and referral sources within NYC’s tightly connected communities

What you will NOT be doing

  • Following scripts, handling volume-based lead lists, or running transactional sales cycles
  • Teaching classes, managing curriculum, or stepping into academic leadership roles
  • Deferring difficult parent conversations to faculty or administrators
  • Operating remotely or behind a desk—this role requires visibility, judgment, and presence

Key responsibilities

Drive enrollment, retention, and parent advocacy for Alpha’s Lower Manhattan campus by leading trusted, high-touch relationships with NYC families from first contact through long-term commitment.

Candidate requirements

  • Minimum 5 years in client-facing roles serving high-net-worth families (>$1M household income), with responsibility for closing or enrolling $5K+ or multi-year commitments
  • Demonstrated experience guiding families through multi-meeting decision processes that resulted in signed agreements or documented commitments
  • Clear, measurable outcomes from prior work, including conversion rates and retention, satisfaction, or referral metrics
  • Experience independently managing a personal lead pipeline or community network from initial inquiry through decision
  • Proven ability to coordinate events or services for 25+ high-profile individuals simultaneously
  • Documented experience handling sensitive issues, complaints, or confidential information with successful resolution
  • Current residence in NYC or within a 1.5-hour commute; willing to work on-site full-time and attend local events
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship

Nice to have

  • Background in private education, philanthropy, luxury services, hospitality, wealth management, or concierge-level client service
  • Existing familiarity with NYC private school ecosystems and parent social networks
  • Experience representing a mission-driven organization to discerning, high-visibility stakeholders
