Lead Guide - Puerto Rico   $150,000 USD/year

Description

  • Onsite in Dorado, Puerto Rico
  • 150,000 USD salary, paid weekly

If you have outgrown traditional school and you refuse to lower the bar just to keep the peace, this role will feel different. You will coach both kids and adults to ambitious outcomes, using data and clear standards, not lectures and lesson plans.

Alpha School is building an AI-powered model where students master core academics in just two hours a day, then spend afternoons building real-world life skills. Our promise is simple and demanding: students love school, learn 2× faster than peers, and build life skills. This role exists to make sure that promise is real for every K–8 student on our Dorado campus.

You will stay hands-on. You will run one-hour life skills workshops, lead structured motivation sessions that move students forward in academic apps, and coach Guides with direct feedback and concrete improvement actions. This is not a traditional teaching role, and it is not a passive leadership job. You will be accountable for outcomes, fidelity to playbooks, and uncompromising standards.

If you want to lead from the front and build a campus culture where results are earned, apply and show us how you drive high standards without excuses.

What you will be doing

  • Facilitate one-hour life skills workshops for K–8 students by preparing and executing activities exactly to playbooks
  • Run structured motivation sessions that push students to advance in academic apps and hit goals
  • Observe Guides in action and deliver standards-based coaching with clear improvement actions and follow-through
  • Use objective, data-driven judgment to uphold mastery standards, even when it is uncomfortable
  • Collaborate day to day with campus staff to ensure consistent delivery of Alpha’s 3 Promises

What you will NOT be doing

  • Teach or tutor academic content in a traditional classroom format
  • Write lesson plans or design curriculum
  • Improvise workshops or drift from established playbooks
  • Lower mastery standards or reduce goals to manufacture “success”
  • Lead from a desk through admin work while others do the real work with students

Key responsibilities

Make sure that every K–8 student at Alpha’s Dorado campus consistently experiences Alpha’s 3 Promises: they love school, learn 2× faster, and build life skills.

Candidate requirements

  • Authorized to work in Puerto Rico
  • Ability to work full-time on-site at the Dorado, Puerto Rico campus
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5+ years of relevant experience coaching people to ambitious outcomes
  • Experience working with children ages 5–14 in a coaching, motivation, or youth development setting
  • Experience coaching or leading adult performance with clear standards and accountability
  • Strong verbal communication skills for K–8 audiences
  • Data-driven decision-making ability (using metrics/analytics to set direction and hold the line)
  • High-standards mindset with comfort giving direct feedback and holding goals without compromise
