Elite Guide   $150,000 USD/year

Description

  • Onsite in San Francisco, CA; Santa Barbara, CA; or New York City, NY
  • 150,000 USD salary paid weekly. Day-one health benefits
  • Relocation support provided

You have done hard things. You have lived inside real standards. You know the difference between “trying” and performing. If you want to put that edge to work where it changes a young person’s trajectory, this role is built for you.

Alpha School uses AI-powered 1:1 learning so students can master core academics in about two hours a day. That frees the rest of the day for life skills, passion-driven work, and real growth. At our highest-expectation campuses, students need more than supervision. They need a trusted mentor who can read the room, set the tone, and coach them through resistance, distraction, and self-doubt.

This is not a traditional teaching job. You will not lecture, grade, or write curriculum. You will coach. You will run rigorous life-skills workshops. You will use data to diagnose what is holding a student back, then push with care and clarity until they follow through.

If you have an elite marker and a track record of raising other people’s performance, we want to meet you. Apply to help build a campus culture where students show up focused, master real skills, and exceed ambitious goals.

What you will be doing

  • Run 1:1 and small-group coaching sessions that turn student goals into consistent execution and measurable progress
  • Use analytics and student goals to diagnose blockers and set ambitious, individualized motivation plans
  • Deliver rigorous life-skills workshops using credible storytelling, reflection, and real application, then assess mastery
  • Lead daily kickoff moments that set culture, reinforce high expectations, and align students before the work starts
  • Cultivate trusted mentor relationships with students and families through high standards, consistency, and sound judgment

What you will NOT be doing

  • Teach classes, lecture, or tutor as a traditional instructor
  • Design curriculum, create lesson plans, or grade student work
  • Manage adults, run campus operations, or take on administrative leadership scope
  • Lower standards to drive short-term compliance or easy wins

Key responsibilities

Make sure students at Alpha’s highest-expectation campuses stay highly motivated and achieve sustained growth and life-skill mastery under elite, high-standards coaching.

Candidate requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in any field
  • At least one clear elite marker (athletics, academics, career achievement, or elite coaching)
  • Experience in people-facing mentoring, coaching, or leadership that measurably raised others’ performance
  • Comfort operating in high-accountability environments with clear standards and follow-through
  • Ability to lead engaging, high-rigor group sessions and coach individuals with strong judgment
  • Willingness to work full-time in person at an Alpha campus: San Francisco, CA; Santa Barbara, CA; or New York City, NY
  • Legal right to work in the U.S.

Nice to have

  • Experience using data and analytics to drive coaching plans and accountability
  • Background in selective firms, competitive startups, or elite athletics programs with intense performance expectations
