Senior DevOps Engineer   $100,000 USD/year

Description

You're a DevOps engineer who prefers preventing outages to responding to them. If you find satisfaction in dissecting complicated legacy infrastructure, architecting more efficient systems, and automating every manual task you come across, this opportunity fits. We need a DevOps and AWS infrastructure specialist who excels in high-pressure settings where 99.9% uptime is the baseline expectation. Your work will span a portfolio of acquired products—each with unique characteristics—as you migrate them into a unified, scalable AWS environment and implement monitoring and automation that genuinely reduces incident frequency.

Most organizations ask you to manage one stack. We're asking you to consolidate and refine multiple stacks without causing disruption. Where others separate databases, we take a different approach, strategically consolidating them to achieve cost efficiency and simplified management across our portfolio. This position isn't suited for someone content with maintaining existing infrastructure; it's designed for someone who encounters an inconsistent, scattered environment and immediately begins architecting improvements.

Your ownership will extend from infrastructure migrations to AI-powered automation, performance optimization, database migration, and cost management. This includes identifying and resolving issues, planning and executing smooth cloud migrations with minimal downtime, and using AI/ML-powered workflows to automate significant portions of your responsibilities. You'll possess genuine decision-making authority over infrastructure choices—no waiting for sign-offs from individuals unfamiliar with the technical details.

If you're a self-directed problem-solver who enjoys bringing order to complex systems and ensuring flawless operation, this role will engage you fully. If you require substantial guidance, become overwhelmed managing multiple technology stacks, or favor greenfield projects over transforming chaos into structure, this position won't suit you. If you're prepared to assume responsibility for a high-impact infrastructure role with opportunities to build, refine, and automate at scale, submit your application now!

What you will be doing

  • Planning and executing complex infrastructure transformations, including migrations from legacy environments to AWS cloud infrastructure and lift-and-shift migrations
  • Designing and deploying monitoring strategies and creating automations for monitoring, software deployments, and operational processes
  • Conducting system monitoring, system backups, incident response, database migrations, database configurations, and cost optimization

What you will NOT be doing

  • Spending time in Jira and endless status meetings - we value individuals who deliver solutions, not simply document problems
  • Maintaining legacy systems indefinitely - you'll be empowered to implement meaningful improvements
  • Getting blocked by bureaucratic approval processes - you'll have authority to execute immediate fixes during incidents
  • Operating within narrow technical silos - this role demands both breadth and depth of technical expertise
  • Justifying budget requests for critical improvements - we recognize the value of infrastructure investment

Key responsibilities

  • Drive reliability and standardization of cloud infrastructure across our expanding product portfolio by deploying robust monitoring, automation, and AWS best practices.

Candidate requirements

  • Deep AWS infrastructure expertise (this is our primary platform - experience with other cloud providers alone won't cut it)
  • Experience scripting with Python and Bash for day-to-day administration operations
  • Experience managing and migrating production databases with multiple engines (including MySql, Postgres, Oracle, MS-SQL)
  • Experience with infrastructure automation (Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation)
  • Linux systems administration expertise
