Senior DevOps Engineer   $100,000 USD/year

Description

You're the kind of DevOps engineer who builds systems that don't fail, rather than simply responding when they do. If you're energized by dissecting fragmented legacy infrastructure, architecting more efficient solutions, and automating every recurring task in sight, this role is for you. We need a DevOps and AWS infrastructure specialist who excels in high-pressure environments where 99.9% uptime is the baseline expectation. You'll operate across a portfolio of acquired products—each with unique complexities—migrating them into a unified, scalable AWS environment while implementing monitoring and automation that genuinely prevents incidents.

Most organizations ask you to maintain one stack. We're asking you to consolidate and optimize several without causing disruptions. While other companies isolate databases, we take the opposite approach, consolidating them strategically to drive cost efficiency and streamline management across our entire portfolio. This isn't a position for someone content to maintain existing infrastructure; it's designed for someone who encounters inconsistent, scattered systems and immediately begins architecting something better.

You'll have ownership of everything from infrastructure migrations to AI-powered automation, performance optimization, database transitions, and cost management. That includes identifying and resolving system failures, planning and executing cloud migrations with minimal downtime, and leveraging AI/ML-driven workflows to automate significant portions of your workload. You'll possess genuine decision-making authority on infrastructure matters—no prolonged waits for sign-offs from stakeholders disconnected from the technical reality.

If you're a self-directed problem-solver who excels at transforming complex systems into reliable operations, this role will be your ideal environment. If you require constant guidance, struggle with managing multiple technology stacks, or favor greenfield projects over creating structure from disorder, this position won't suit you. If you're prepared to assume ownership of a high-impact infrastructure role with opportunities to build, optimize, and automate at scale, submit your application now!

What you will be doing

  • Planning and executing sophisticated infrastructure transformations, including migrations from legacy environments to AWS cloud platforms and lift-and-shift operations
  • Architecting and deploying monitoring strategies and creating automation for monitoring systems, software deployments, and operational processes
  • Conducting system monitoring, system backups, incident management, database migrations, database configurations, and cost optimization activities

What you will NOT be doing

  • Spending your time in Jira and marathon status meetings - we prioritize people who deliver solutions, not merely document issues
  • Keeping obsolete systems running indefinitely - you'll have the mandate to pursue substantial improvements
  • Waiting on bureaucratic approval processes - you'll possess the authority to implement immediate fixes when addressing incidents
  • Operating within restrictive technical silos - this position demands both wide-ranging knowledge and specialized expertise
  • Justifying budget requests for essential infrastructure upgrades - we recognize the value of infrastructure investment

Key responsibilities

  • Drive reliability and standardization of cloud infrastructure across our expanding product portfolio by deploying comprehensive monitoring, automation, and AWS best practices.

Candidate requirements

  • Deep AWS infrastructure expertise (this is our primary platform - experience with other clouds alone is insufficient)
  • Experience scripting with Python and Bash for routine administrative operations
  • Experience managing and migrating production databases with multiple engines (including MySql, Postgres, Oracle, MS-SQL)
  • Experience with infrastructure automation (Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation)
  • Linux systems administration expertise
