Youth Program Coordinator   $100,000 USD/year

Description

  • $100,000 annual W2 salary with weekly pay; comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage starting day one
  • On-site role at an Alpha K-8 campus in Denver, CO; Oklahoma City, OK; Tulsa, OK; Nashville, TN; Austin, TX; Brownsville, TX; Fort Worth, TX; Houston (Central, South, or The Woodlands), TX; Park City, UT (Salt Lake City area); or Toronto, Canada (relocation assistance available)

This role is about motivation, not teaching.

The most meaningful support you can offer a student who reached 99% of their goal is refusing to accept it as complete. If that principle concerns you, this role is not a fit. If it energizes you because maintaining standards demonstrates your belief in a student's potential, continue reading.

Alpha students complete academic work through AI-driven applications. No traditional lectures. No physical textbooks. You will spend half your day facilitating one-hour life-skills workshops covering public speaking, focus, and the practice of giving and receiving constructive feedback. The remaining time is dedicated to individual and small-group sessions where you analyze student progress via Coachbot analytics and guide each student toward completing 100% of their weekly app targets. Workshops provide a foundation, but top performers in this position customize them and create new content when needed.

A successful quarter means every student in your cohort completes their weekly app goals, passes the Test2Pass for all life-skills workshops, and 90%+ report they love you. Falling short on any of these three measures means the job was not done. Your first year focuses on mastering the operational model; as you demonstrate your ability to uphold standards, advancement opportunities open to Lead Guide, where you mentor new team members while continuing direct work with students.

If you prefer conventional teaching methods, expect curriculum to be provided fully formed, or view warmth and rigorous expectations as incompatible, this is the wrong role. If your background includes athletic coaching, camp counseling, tutoring where you refused to let students give up, or performance work that commanded the attention of young children, the final step before an offer is spending a full day on campus coaching actual Alpha students. If that prospect excites you most, submit your application today.

What you will be doing

  • Facilitating one-hour life-skills workshops for K-8 cohorts covering public speaking, focus, feedback, and other foundational skills, customizing the framework and creating new sessions when you identify missing elements
  • Conducting daily individual and small-group motivation sessions that drive every student to complete 100% of their weekly app goals, leveraging Coachbot analytics, Alpha's incentive structures (school currency, leaderboards), and your personal connection with each student to overcome resistance
  • Delivering the Test2Pass (Alpha's mastery-based assessment) for each life skill, and providing coaching to students who do not pass until mastery is achieved
  • Adjusting your coaching approach across a broad age spectrum, from kindergarteners requiring high energy and physical activity to 8th graders needing direct conversations and accountability
  • Serving as the adult who maintains standards and the adult students seek out; warmth creates the foundation for pushing, and pushing demonstrates your confidence in their ability to succeed

What you will NOT be doing

  • Delivering whiteboard lectures; academic content is handled by the applications, not by you
  • Building curriculum from the ground up; you animate an established framework with energy and narrative
  • Passively monitoring students at computers; motivation in this model is active, individualized, and persistent
  • Reducing a weekly target to help a student reach it; when a student falls behind, the solution involves supporting the student, not adjusting the goal
  • Evaluating homework, conducting standardized test preparation, or handling parent communications; Campus Leads manage parent-facing responsibilities, and the other tasks do not exist in this environment

Key responsibilities

Guarantee that every student in your K-8 cohort achieves their weekly learning targets, demonstrates mastery of each life skill, and concludes the year reporting they loved you.

Candidate requirements

  • Able to work in-person at an Alpha campus in Denver, CO; Oklahoma City, OK; Tulsa, OK; Nashville, TN; Austin, TX; Brownsville, TX; Fort Worth, TX; Houston, TX (Central, South, or The Woodlands); Park City, UT; or Toronto, Canada (relocation assistance provided)
  • Bachelor's degree in any field
  • Minimum 3 years of direct experience working with K-8 students (classroom teaching, coaching, tutoring, camp counseling, or youth program leadership)
  • A concrete example you can articulate of motivating a K-8 student toward a challenging goal: the objective, your actions, and the result
  • Comfort allowing AI to manage instructional content while you concentrate on motivation and life-skills coaching
  • Regular use of generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude)
  • Legal authorization to work in the US without visa sponsorship (or in Canada for the Toronto campus)

Nice to have

  • Background in youth sports coaching, debate, camp leadership, theater, or after-school programs where you held direct responsibility for motivating children toward defined objectives
  • History of exceptional personal achievement (academic, athletic, or professional), reflecting a consistent pattern of maintaining high standards rather than adopting them situationally
  • Storytelling ability and stage presence sufficient to engage a room of 12-year-olds for an hour without needing to raise your voice
  • Demonstrated success converting disengaged or resistant students into active, participating learners
