Alpha School is transforming early childhood education by combining rigorous academic instruction with innovative technology. This role places you at the center of that transformation, working directly with Kindergarten through 2nd-grade students as they build foundational skills in literacy and self-directed learning.

Our 2-Hour Learning program leverages AI-driven adaptive technology to create personalized educational experiences for each student. While technology powers much of the academic content delivery, your role centers on providing critical human connection—delivering hands-on reading and writing instruction grounded in evidence-based methodologies. This approach ensures young learners develop academically while also growing socially and emotionally under expert guidance.

What you will be doing

  • Guiding students to establish and pursue personal learning objectives, helping them develop self-directed learning capabilities.
  • Delivering focused instruction in foundational literacy and social-emotional competencies with guidance from Reading Specialists.
  • Creating a classroom atmosphere that promotes curiosity and resilience through hands-on, interactive learning activities.
  • Leveraging AI-driven educational tools to improve learning outcomes, equipping students for a future where technology and traditional methods work together.
  • Working alongside educators and counselors to address each student's distinct learning journey, adjusting to their specific needs and learning preferences.

🚫 Depending exclusively on conventional teaching practices without incorporating innovative educational technology.

🚫 Applying uniform instructional methods—individual learning differences are recognized and supported here.

🚫 Prioritizing academic content at the expense of social and emotional development.

Key responsibilities

💡 Drive the cultivation of independent learning capabilities and essential life skills for Kindergarten through 2nd grade students, establishing a foundation for both educational achievement and personal development.

Candidate requirements

  • Willing to work on-site at one of our locations: Austin, TX; Fort Worth, TX; Tampa, FL; or Scottsdale (Phoenix), AZ.
  • A college degree in any field.
  • At least 3 years of experience working with children ages 4 - 8 years old in educational, afterschool, sports, or related settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply a growth mindset and high-performance coaching strategies effectively.
  • Comfortable with and enthusiastic about using AI and other technologies in educational settings.
  • Legally authorized to work in the US without visa sponsorship.

Nice to have

These qualifications will strengthen your application, but as long as you meet the above requirements, you should apply!

  • A degree or certification in a field related to early learning (education, child development, reading intervention, etc.)
  • Certifications or advanced training in early childhood learning methodologies such as CDA, Montessori, or Reggio Emilia.
  • Experience as a K-2 teacher, reading coach, or literacy specialist with formal training or professional development experience in a reading & phonics frameworks.
  • Experience in settings that emphasize personalized learning paths and educational technology.
