Youth Program Coordinator   $100,000 USD/year

Description

  • Campus-based position at the Alpha School in Brownsville, TX
  • W2 salary of $100,000/year with weekly pay. Health benefits begin on day one.
  • Relocation assistance provided in exchange for a one-school-year on-campus commitment

You have spent years coaching students — not lecturing them. You understand the distinction: coaching means connecting with students, setting high expectations, and refusing to accept anything less than their full effort. Teaching is about delivering lessons. You have never been a lesson delivery mechanism.

Alpha operates one of the most unconventional schools in the country. Students do not sit in traditional rows listening to lectures. Instead, they progress through AI-driven learning platforms at their own speed. The AI manages instructional delivery. Your responsibility is to facilitate life skills workshops that captivate K-8 students, lead motivation sessions that drive them to achieve weekly learning targets, and maintain standards when students attempt to take shortcuts. Academic progress is automated. You manage the human dimension.

This position offers a meaningful trajectory: those who consistently achieve performance benchmarks (100% cohort attainment of weekly app goals, satisfaction scores of 90% or higher) advance to Lead Guide positions, where they mentor other educators in refining their practice. Student outcomes remain the focus.

The campus is located in Brownsville, adjacent to SpaceX's Starbase facility. If you are seeking a role change driven by mission — reshaping what a child believes they are capable of — rather than résumé building, you should apply.

What you will be doing

  • Facilitating one-hour life skills workshops for K-8 students on topics including public speaking, sustained focus, and constructive feedback exchange
  • Administering Test2Pass mastery assessments following each workshop to verify genuine skill acquisition rather than passive attendance
  • Conducting daily motivation sessions informed by student profiles, interests, and Coachbot data to ensure 100% of your cohort meets weekly app progression goals
  • Employing storytelling techniques, incentive structures (school currency, leaderboards), and one-on-one rapport to overcome student reluctance
  • Monitoring cohort satisfaction metrics with a target of 90% or higher on student feedback surveys

What you will NOT be doing

  • Delivering traditional lectures at a whiteboard. Academic advancement occurs through self-paced AI-powered applications, not through direct instruction from you.
  • Providing passive supervision. While the environment features students using computers, the role demands active, purposeful engagement.
  • Reducing expectations in response to student resistance. Test2Pass standards remain constant, even when students face difficult weeks.
  • Creating original curriculum materials. Workshop lesson plans and playbooks are supplied; your task is to execute them with the presence and narrative skill that ensures genuine student comprehension.
  • Handling parent relations, admissions processes, or campus administrative functions. These fall under separate roles.

Key responsibilities

Guide a cohort of K-8 students to achieve 100% weekly academic goal attainment while facilitating life skills workshops that maintain satisfaction scores of 90% or above.

Candidate requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in any field
  • Minimum of 3 years' direct experience working with K-8 (elementary and middle school) age students
  • Demonstrated storytelling ability and facilitation presence — capable of maintaining the focused attention of children for one-hour sessions
  • Willingness to work on-site at the Alpha campus located in Brownsville, TX
  • Authorization to work legally in the US without requiring visa sponsorship

Nice to have

  • Experience as an athletic coach, camp counselor, or youth program leader
  • Documented history of high achievement in competitive settings (academic, athletic, or professional)
  • Familiarity with self-directed or application-based learning environments
