Youth Program Coordinator   $100,000 USD/year

Description

  • On-site position at the Alpha School campus in Brownsville, TX
  • $100,000 annual W2 salary, distributed weekly. Health benefits begin on day one.
  • Relocation assistance provided for a one-school-year campus commitment

You've dedicated years to coaching young people — not instructing them. You understand the distinction: coaches connect, push boundaries, and won't allow students to accept mediocrity. Instructors deliver curriculum. You've never operated as a curriculum delivery mechanism.

Alpha operates the most unorthodox school model you'll encounter. Students don't occupy rows while being lectured at. They progress through AI-driven learning applications at individualized speeds. AI manages the academic instruction. Your responsibility is to facilitate life skills workshops that command the attention of K-8 students, conduct motivation sessions that drive them toward weekly learning targets, and maintain standards when a student attempts to underperform. The academic progress is automated. You manage the interpersonal dimension.

This position offers a meaningful growth trajectory, and that trajectory is defined by increased student impact. Those who reliably achieve their metrics (100% of cohort reaching weekly app targets, 90%+ satisfaction ratings) advance into Lead Guide positions where they mentor other educators in refining their practice. Students remain the priority.

The campus sits in Brownsville, adjacent to SpaceX's Starbase. If your motivation for leaving your current position centers on the mission — transforming what a child believes about their own potential — rather than enhancing your resume, submit your application.

What you will be doing

  • Facilitating one-hour life skills workshops for K-8 students addressing topics including public speaking, concentration, and feedback exchange
  • Administering Test2Pass mastery assessments following each workshop to verify students have authentically acquired the skill, not merely attended the session
  • Conducting daily motivation sessions leveraging student profiles, personal interests, and Coachbot analytics to ensure 100% of your cohort achieves their weekly app progression targets
  • Utilizing storytelling, incentive structures (school currency, leaderboards), and individual rapport to overcome student reluctance
  • Monitoring cohort satisfaction ratings toward a 90%+ benchmark on student surveys

What you will NOT be doing

  • Presenting from a whiteboard while lecturing. Students progress academically via self-paced AI-driven apps, not through direct instruction from you.
  • Supervising idly. Children using computers describes the environment; active engagement defines the work.
  • Compromising standards when students resist. Test2Pass benchmarks remain consistent, regardless of whether a student is experiencing a difficult week.
  • Creating curriculum independently. Workshop playbooks and lesson frameworks are supplied; your responsibility is to execute them with the charisma and narrative skill that ensures students genuinely internalize the content.
  • Coordinating with parents, handling admissions, or supervising campus logistics. Those functions belong to a separate role.

Key responsibilities

Guide a cohort of K-8 students to achieve 100% of their weekly academic targets while facilitating life skills workshops that earn 90%+ satisfaction ratings.

Candidate requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in any field
  • Minimum of 3 years of direct experience working with K-8 (elementary and middle school) students
  • Strong storytelling and facilitation skills — capable of maintaining the engagement of a room full of children for an hour
  • Willingness to work on-site at the Alpha campus in Brownsville, TX
  • Legal authorization to work in the US without requiring visa sponsorship

Nice to have

  • Experience as an athletic coach, camp counselor, or youth program coordinator
  • Demonstrated history of high achievement in competitive settings (academic, athletic, or professional)
  • Familiarity with self-directed or app-based learning models
