This is not a teaching position. This is a motivation role.
The most caring thing you can do for a student who reaches 99% of their target is to refuse to accept it as complete. If that expectation unsettles you, this role is not a fit. If it energizes you—because you know that holding the standard is how you show a student you believe in their ability to meet it—read on.
At Alpha, students complete their academic work through AI-powered applications. No lectures. No textbooks. Approximately 60% of your week is spent facilitating one-hour life-skills workshops covering public speaking, focus, and how to give and receive meaningful feedback. Around 30% of your time is spent with students individually or in small groups, reviewing their progress via Coachbot analytics and driving each one toward their weekly app targets. The remaining 10% involves data analysis that informs your coaching strategy for the week ahead. You will not follow a rigid script; workshops provide a foundation, and the strongest performers in this role customize them and create new ones when needed.
Success in a semester means that at least 90% of your cohort meets their weekly app goals, demonstrates measurable improvement in life skills on Test2Pass, and rates their experience with you at 4/5 or higher. Falling short on any of these three measures means the role has not been fulfilled. As you demonstrate your ability to maintain standards, opportunities open to Lead Guide—mentoring newer Guides while continuing to lead a cohort—and eventually to Campus Lead, where you oversee a school and manage parent engagement.
If you prefer traditional teaching methods, expect a pre-built curriculum, or see warmth and rigor as incompatible, this position is not suitable. If you have experience as an athletic coach, a camp counselor, a tutor who refused to let a student give up, or a performer capable of captivating a room of 12-year-olds, the final stage before receiving an offer is a full day on campus coaching actual Alpha students. If that prospect excites you most, submit your application today.
Drive every student in your K-8 cohort to meet their weekly learning targets, achieve mastery in each life skill, and finish the year saying they loved you.
