Education Coach   $120,000 USD/year

Description

  • $120,000 annual W2 compensation, distributed weekly; comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage begins immediately
  • Full-time on-campus role at an Alpha K-8 school in Beverly Hills, CA; Piedmont, CA; Greenwich, CT; Boca Raton, FL; Fort Lauderdale, FL; Miami Beach, FL; Palm Beach Gardens, FL; Chicago, IL; Raleigh, NC; Portland, OR (relocation assistance available)

You are not here to teach. You are here to drive results.

When a student reaches 99% of their target, the most powerful thing you can do is refuse to call it complete. If that expectation feels too rigid, this role is not for you. If it resonates because you know that holding the standard is how you demonstrate belief in a student's ability, read on.

Alpha students complete their academic work through AI-driven applications—no traditional instruction, no printed materials. Approximately 60% of your time is spent facilitating one-hour life-skills sessions covering topics like public speaking, concentration, and constructive feedback. Roughly 30% involves individual or small-group coaching, where you analyze Coachbot data and guide each student toward their weekly application targets. The remaining 10% is dedicated to reviewing performance metrics and shaping the following week's coaching strategy. You will not follow a rigid script; sessions provide a framework, and successful Guides customize them or create new content when needed.

Success in a given semester means at least 90% of your cohort meets weekly app targets, demonstrates quantifiable life-skill improvement on Test2Pass, and rates their experience with you at 4 out of 5 or higher. Falling short on any of these three metrics means the role is not being fulfilled. As you demonstrate your ability to maintain high standards, advancement opportunities open—first to Lead Guide, where you mentor newer team members while continuing to lead a cohort, and then to Campus Lead, where you oversee an entire school and manage parent engagement.

If you prefer conventional classroom teaching, expect curriculum to be delivered ready-made, or see warmth and rigor as incompatible, this position is not a fit. If your background includes athletic coaching, camp counseling, tutoring where you refused to let students give up, or performance work that enabled you to command the attention of middle schoolers, the final interview stage involves spending a full day on campus coaching actual Alpha students. If that prospect excites you more than anything else, submit your application now.

What you will be doing

  • Facilitating one-hour life-skills sessions for K-8 groups covering public speaking, focus, feedback exchange, and other foundational competencies, customizing the existing framework and creating new sessions when you identify unmet needs
  • Conducting daily individual and small-group motivational coaching that drives every student toward their weekly app targets, leveraging Coachbot data, Alpha's reward mechanisms (school currency, performance rankings), and your personal rapport with each student to overcome reluctance
  • Overseeing Test2Pass administration (Alpha's competency-based evaluation) for each life skill, and continuing to coach students who fall short until mastery is achieved
  • Flexing your approach across a broad developmental spectrum, from kindergarteners requiring high energy and physical activity to eighth graders needing candid conversations and personal accountability
  • Analyzing weekly cohort performance metrics in Coachbot, pinpointing students who are falling behind, and modifying your coaching tactics for the upcoming week based on the insights the data provides

What you will NOT be doing

  • Delivering traditional classroom instruction; academic content is embedded in the applications, not delivered by you
  • Creating a complete curriculum from scratch; you begin with an established framework and infuse it with your own presence and narrative skills
  • Passively monitoring students as they work on devices; motivation in this environment is hands-on, individualized, and persistent
  • Working through layers of administrative approval to secure support for students in need; when a student requires additional coaching, you decide and implement immediately
  • Assessing assignments, preparing standardized exam materials, or handling parent outreach; Campus Leads manage parent communications, and the other tasks are not part of this model

Key responsibilities

Guarantee that every student in your K-8 cohort achieves their weekly learning targets, attains mastery in each life skill, and finishes the year affirming that you made a meaningful impact on them.

Candidate requirements

  • Available to work on-site at an Alpha campus in Beverly Hills, CA; Piedmont, CA; Greenwich, CT; Boca Raton, FL; Fort Lauderdale, FL; Miami Beach, FL; Palm Beach Gardens, FL; Chicago, IL; Raleigh, NC; Portland, OR (relocation support provided)
  • Bachelor's degree in any subject
  • At least 3 years working directly with K-8 students (classroom teaching, coaching, tutoring, camp counseling, or youth program leadership)
  • A specific example you can describe of motivating a K-8 student to a hard goal: the goal, what you did, and the outcome
  • Willingness to let AI handle the instructional content while you focus on motivation and life-skills coaching
  • Legal right to work in the US without visa sponsorship

Nice to have

  • Background in youth sports coaching, debate, camp leadership, theater, or after-school programming where you held direct responsibility for motivating children toward defined objectives
  • Demonstrated personal excellence (academic, athletic, or professional) that makes maintaining high expectations for others a natural extension of your own standards, not an adopted stance
  • Communication and presentation skills sufficient to engage a room of 12-year-olds for an hour without needing to elevate your volume
  • Proven ability to transform unmotivated or resistant students into engaged contributors
