Regional Director of Family Engagement   $200,000 USD/year

Description

Families who choose Alpha rely on trusted advisors across every area of their lives. This role gives them the one they haven't had yet.

You will be the person they reach out to when uncertainty strikes, when intuition tells them something isn't right, or when they want to celebrate a milestone with someone who truly gets it. You'll develop familiarity with each family deep enough to sense what they need before a word is spoken—and you'll bring the judgment and composure to meet those needs with care, discretion, and apparent ease. Over time, your role will expand beyond being a representative of their child's school. You'll become woven into the way they live this season of family life.

That level of trust isn't manufactured through systems. It's earned through presence—consistent, unhurried, and daily. You'll show up at morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up, at the evening gatherings that count, and in the unscheduled one-on-one moments that rarely appear on anyone's calendar. You'll cultivate a community that families want to protect, where inclusion feels natural and word-of-mouth referrals emerge because the experience merits them.

Alpha operates differently from traditional schools. Students complete their core academics in two hours per day using AI-powered applications, then dedicate the remainder of their time to public speaking, critical thinking, and hands-on projects. No lectures. No busywork. Results in the top 1% nationally. The families who select this model are investing in something they believe in—but that belief requires ongoing nurturing.

You'll sustain that dialogue with every family, through every question and moment of uncertainty, for the duration of their child's enrollment. If the prospect of defending an unconventional approach to discerning skeptics feels burdensome, this position won't be a fit. If it strikes you as the most compelling conversation you could be part of, continue reading.

What you will be doing

  • Take full ownership of the relationship with every family on campus—the evolving, deepening connection that makes parents feel understood, not merely attended to
  • Identify potential concerns before they surface as formal conversations, and address them with the discretion and interpersonal skill that preserves trust
  • Maintain visible presence in the spaces families occupy: morning drop-off hours (7–9am), afternoon pick-up windows (2–4pm), evening parent gatherings, and select weekend programming
  • Create a campus community with authentic depth—traditions, events, and connection points that give families the sense of belonging to something they want to safeguard
  • Develop parent advocates naturally, by delivering experiences so reliably excellent that referrals happen as a matter of course
  • Sustain the ongoing dialogue about Alpha's AI-powered approach with families working through screen time questions, skeptical relatives, and moments of doubt—not only during enrollment, but continuously throughout their campus tenure
  • Recognize when a family is not a good match and manage that situation with the same care you apply to all interactions—preserving the community is integral to serving it well
  • Establish the systems and routines this position demands in a setting where standard operating procedures are still under development

What you will NOT be doing

  • Overseeing enrollment—that responsibility belongs to the Admissions Director; your work starts after families commit and grows deeper from that point
  • Operating from behind a desk—your presence within the community defines the role
  • Adhering to standard 9–5 hours—early mornings, late afternoons, and evening programming are inherent to the position, not occasional exceptions
  • Relying on administrative infrastructure, formalized procedures, or a complete team—you function with significant autonomy and create the structures you require
  • Viewing family relationships as accounts to be processed—this role rewards authentic connection, not procedural adherence

Key responsibilities

Serve as the trusted relationship anchoring every family's journey at Alpha. Maintain their confidence during challenging moments, foster a community where belonging feels intentional, and establish the conditions under which satisfied families naturally become active advocates.

Candidate requirements

  • Currently living within commuting range of one of these campuses OR prepared to relocate within 60 days (preference given to candidates with established local community ties): Scottsdale, AZ; Palo Alto, CA; Piedmont, CA; Lake Forest, CA; San Francisco, CA; Greenwich, CT; Bethesda, MD; New York City, NY; Austin, TX; Fort Worth, TX; Houston, TX; or Kirkland, WA
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. without need for sponsorship
  • 5+ years in a client-facing role serving high-net-worth or ultra-high-net-worth families—such as private school admissions, luxury hospitality, philanthropic advising, or similar environments where discretion, warmth, and interpersonal skill were as critical as technical competence
  • Proven capacity to navigate difficult moments with sophisticated families while maintaining and strengthening trust
  • Authentic presence and communication approach that quickly earns the confidence of affluent, high-expectation families—polished without appearing rehearsed
  • Personal experience with independent, private, or non-traditional education—either professionally or as a parent—that provides you credible perspective when families challenge the model
  • Sincere belief in AI-powered education and the capacity to sustain that conviction authentically over years of parent engagement, not solely during the initial enrollment phase
  • Flexibility to accommodate non-standard hours: early mornings (7–9am), late afternoons (2–4pm), evening programming 2–3 times per month, and occasional weekend commitments

Nice to have

Exceptional candidates will possess at least one of the following:

  • Established connections within the local affluent community that would provide you an immediate, organic presence on campus
  • Background in private or independent schools with demonstrated success in family retention and community building—not solely enrollment metrics
  • Track record managing high-stakes family relationships where your discretion and judgment were the reasons trust endured
  • Natural ability to design experiences—events, moments, settings—that make people feel part of something they want to protect
  • Prior experience in startup or early-stage environments where you built systems from the ground up and maintained composure through rapid change

This isn't a conventional school, and this isn't conventional parent engagement.

At Alpha, parent advocacy functions as a growth engine, not a support service. You'll lead high-trust conversations, facilitate events that drive enrollment, and build conviction one family at a time. That requires fluency in both the messaging and the model. You'll need complete command of what distinguishes Alpha—and how to articulate that in ways that resonate and motivate.
