Youth Development Coach   $120,000 USD/year

Description

  • IMPORTANT NOTE: This position requires full-time, in-person work at our Miami, FL campus.

Certain individuals possess a natural gift: the capacity to enter a space filled with lively, unpredictable, delightful young learners and form immediate connections. If you recognize potential where others perceive challenges, and you hold the conviction that children perform to the standard you set, this high-impact opportunity may align with your strengths.

Alpha operates on a foundational belief that conventional schooling does not represent the pinnacle of what we can provide. We maintain that with appropriate resources and clear expectations, every child can accomplish significantly more in less time. Our K-2 educators function as coaches rather than lecturers. Students in our program complete core academic work in only two hours daily through AI-powered learning platforms. Your role centers on ensuring those hours deliver measurable results. This involves guiding each student—irrespective of their background or initial skill level—to develop the habits, confidence, and mindset essential for success.

We seek someone capable of maintaining rigorous standards while cultivating genuine trust. Someone who can guide a classroom of 5-year-olds toward purposeful action. Someone who believes in every child's capacity and possesses the skill to instill that belief in them.

If you share our commitment to investing in children's potential, we look forward to your application.

What you will be doing

  • Facilitating student engagement during the 2-Hour Learning block by helping them establish objectives, maintain focus, and navigate technology tools with confidence.
  • Reinforcing reading habits and foundational routines that complement instruction provided by Reading Specialists.
  • Providing coaching on emotional regulation, resilience, and collaborative skills through consistent structure paired with genuine warmth.
  • Monitoring individual student development and identifying concerns proactively, then refining approaches in partnership with your team.
  • Building a classroom atmosphere that balances structure with playfulness and personalization—comparable to summer camp held to elevated standards.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Delivering traditional whole-group instruction from the front of the room throughout the day.
  • Taking primary responsibility for literacy curriculum design or direct reading instruction.
  • Spending time grading assignments or drafting extensive lesson plans.
  • Operating in a classroom devoid of technology or energy.
  • Addressing behavior challenges without seeking to understand the underlying child.

Key responsibilities

Enable young students to develop the habits, confidence, and emotional strength required to succeed within Alpha's accelerated, technology-supported learning environment.

Candidate requirements

  • Availability to work full-time on-site at our Miami, FL campus.
  • Bachelor's degree in any discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years working with children ages 4–8 in educational settings, afterschool programs, coaching roles, or comparable contexts.
  • Proven capability to inspire and guide groups of young children through a combination of structure and enthusiasm.
  • Growth-oriented mindset and openness to coaching.
  • Current authorization to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship.

Nice to have

  • Credentials or training in early childhood educational frameworks (e.g., CDA, Montessori, Reggio Emilia).
  • Background in supporting literacy development or collaborating with reading specialists.
  • Prior exposure to adaptive learning technologies or individualized learning platforms.
