Virtual Student Mentor   $60,000 USD/year

Description

Arizona-certified teachers, take note.

Imagine a teaching role that doesn't center on lesson plans, grading stacks of papers, or delivering lectures—but instead places mentorship and personal development at its core.

Unbound Academy is creating a tuition-free, fully virtual charter school that reimagines education. We've swapped worksheets for experiential learning and prioritized personal growth alongside academics. Students complete their academic work in just two focused hours daily using AI-driven tools. The remainder of their day is devoted to something just as critical: immersive workshops designed to build life skills, spark curiosity, and cultivate confidence.

Your role won't involve delivering standard lessons or overseeing a traditional virtual classroom. Instead, you'll facilitate dynamic online sessions that invite students to engage with big ideas through storytelling, entrepreneurship, wellness, and beyond. You'll guide them toward independence, support their personal development, and help them acquire the competencies that truly matter outside the classroom.

This position isn't suited for educators attached to conventional schooling models. It's designed for Arizona-certified teachers prepared to work remotely, embrace innovative pedagogy, and mentor students in ways that genuinely equip them for real life. If you're ready to move past classroom routine and contribute to something transformative, consider this opportunity.

What you will be doing

  • Facilitating interactive, virtual workshops centered on life skills such as creativity, communication, and problem-solving
  • Providing one-on-one and small-group mentorship to cultivate confidence, self-direction, and executive function in students
  • Leveraging platform analytics to personalize support and monitor student progress longitudinally
  • Working alongside peer educators to develop and refine project-based learning initiatives
  • Building a safe, energizing environment where students feel valued, understood, and motivated to develop

What you will NOT be doing

  • Teaching foundational academic subjects—AI tutors manage that
  • Presenting scripted lectures or maintaining a conventional classroom structure
  • Grading homework or creating standardized lesson plans

Key responsibilities

Drive student growth and life preparedness by facilitating transformative, real-world learning experiences within a flexible, fully virtual school environment.

Candidate requirements

  • Valid US teaching certificate from any state
  • Background in teaching, mentoring, or coaching students (Grades 4–8 preferred)
  • Confident virtual presence; able to lead effectively via video
  • Available for full-time work (M–F, 8am–5pm Arizona time)
  • Prepared to start within 2-3 weeks
  • Enthusiastic about working in a technology-enabled, student-centered school
