Virtual Student Mentor   $60,000 USD/year

Description

  • Hybrid AZ · W2 · $60K/yr

Licensed teachers seeking to shift from classroom management to life-changing mentorship should continue reading.

Imagine a teaching position where lesson planning, lectures, and grading no longer consume your day—replaced by a singular focus on guiding students toward confidence and capability.

Unbound Academy has redesigned education from the ground up. This hybrid position supports a tuition-free Arizona virtual charter school that trades worksheets for experiential learning and prioritizes personal development. Students independently complete core academics in two concentrated daily hours using AI-powered platforms. The remainder of their schedule is devoted to cultivating practical skills through facilitated workshops, mentorship, and self-directed discovery.

Your role will not involve delivering scripted curriculum or monitoring a virtual classroom. Instead, you will facilitate dynamic online sessions designed to push students to think critically, collaborate effectively, and create meaningfully. Your mentorship will span storytelling, entrepreneurship, wellness, and critical thinking—all while fostering independence, self-assurance, and executive functioning.

This opportunity is not suited for educators attempting to recreate conventional schooling in a virtual format. It requires licensed teachers prepared to relocate to Arizona, embrace a hybrid structure, and equip students with skills that genuinely prepare them for adulthood. If traditional classroom tasks no longer fulfill you and you are ready for the most impactful work of your teaching career, this role warrants your attention.

What you will be doing

  • Facilitating interactive virtual workshops centered on life competencies including communication, creativity, critical thinking, and self-management
  • Providing individualized and small-group mentorship to cultivate student confidence, accountability, and executive skills
  • Leveraging platform analytics and student cues to tailor support and monitor development trajectories
  • Partnering with peer educators to develop and refine project-based learning frameworks
  • Establishing a secure, energizing virtual space where students are recognized, challenged, and inspired to advance

What you will NOT be doing

  • Instructing core academic content; adaptive AI tutoring systems manage those subjects
  • Presenting scripted lessons or operating within a conventional classroom framework
  • Evaluating worksheets, distributing homework, or creating standardized lesson plans

Key responsibilities

Advance student development and life preparedness by facilitating transformative, applied learning experiences in a hybrid, fully virtual educational environment.

Candidate requirements

  • Available to commence position end of July 2026
  • Valid U.S. teaching certificate from any state, or an expired certificate eligible for reinstatement, with certification transferable to Arizona
  • Strong virtual presence and comfort leading students via video
  • Able to work in a hybrid role in Arizona
