Virtual Student Mentor   $60,000 USD/year

Description

Licensed teachers seeking to shift from school administration to life-changing mentorship are encouraged to apply.

Imagine a role no longer centered on lesson plans, lectures, or grading—one that is dedicated entirely to mentoring young people into confident, capable individuals.

Unbound Academy redefines teaching intentionally. This hybrid position supports a tuition-free, fully virtual Arizona charter school that replaces worksheets with experiential learning and prioritizes personal development. Students work through core academics independently using AI-powered platforms in two concentrated hours each day. The remainder of their day is devoted to building practical skills through facilitated workshops, coaching, and exploration.

You will not be delivering scripted content or monitoring a virtual classroom. Instead, you will facilitate dynamic online sessions that push students to think critically, create, collaborate, and mature. You will guide them through storytelling, entrepreneurship, wellness, and problem-solving while cultivating independence, confidence, and executive function.

This position is not designed for educators attempting to replicate conventional schooling via Zoom. It is for licensed teachers prepared to relocate to Arizona, operate in a hybrid capacity, and support students in ways that genuinely prepare them for life. If you have grown weary of classroom busywork and are ready to engage in the most impactful work of your career, continue reading.

What you will be doing

  • Facilitating interactive virtual workshops centered on life skills including communication, creativity, problem-solving, and self-direction
  • Providing one-on-one and small-group mentorship to students to foster confidence, ownership, and executive functioning
  • Leveraging platform data and student indicators to tailor support and monitor progress longitudinally
  • Working alongside fellow educators to design and iteratively refine project-based learning experiences
  • Establishing a safe, high-energy space where students feel acknowledged, challenged, and inspired to develop

What you will NOT be doing

  • Instructing core academic subjects; these are delivered by adaptive AI tutors
  • Presenting scripted lectures or operating a traditional classroom structure
  • Evaluating worksheets, assigning homework, or developing standardized lesson plans

Key responsibilities

Facilitate student development and life readiness by delivering transformative, real-world learning experiences within a hybrid, fully virtual school environment.

  • Available to begin on August 1st, 2026

  • At least 3 years of experience mentoring, coaching, tutoring, or leading youth ages 8–14
  • Educated (K–16) within the U.S., Canada, or U.K. school systems
