Virtual Student Mentor   $60,000 USD/year

Description

IMPORTANT NOTE: This hybrid position requires you to be physically located in Arizona.

Licensed educators seeking to shift from classroom administration to transformational mentorship—this is for you.

Imagine a role where your focus isn't on lesson planning, lecturing, or grading—but instead on guiding young people to become self-assured, competent individuals.

Unbound Academy reimagines what teaching means. This hybrid position supports a tuition-free, fully virtual charter school in Arizona that trades traditional worksheets for experiential learning and prioritizes personal development. Students handle core academics autonomously with AI-powered platforms in two concentrated hours each day. The remaining time is dedicated to cultivating practical skills through structured workshops, one-on-one coaching, and exploratory activities.

Your role will not involve delivering pre-written lessons or monitoring a virtual classroom. Instead, you'll facilitate dynamic online sessions that push students to think critically, create, collaborate, and mature. You'll guide them through storytelling, entrepreneurship, wellness practices, and problem-solving while fostering independence, self-confidence, and executive function skills.

This opportunity is not suited for educators attempting to recreate conventional schooling via Zoom. It's designed for licensed teachers prepared to relocate to Arizona, embrace a hybrid working model, and mentor students in ways that genuinely equip them for the real world. If you've grown weary of classroom administrative tasks and are ready to undertake the most impactful work of your teaching career, continue reading.

What you will be doing

  • Facilitating engaging virtual workshops centered on essential life skills including communication, creativity, problem-solving, and self-management
  • Providing one-on-one and small group mentorship to cultivate confidence, accountability, and executive functioning capabilities

  • Partnering with fellow educators to design and refine project-based learning initiatives
  • Establishing a secure, energized environment where students feel acknowledged, challenged, and inspired to develop

What you will NOT be doing

  • Instructing core academic content; adaptive AI tutors manage those subjects
  • Presenting scripted lectures or operating within a conventional classroom framework
  • Evaluating worksheets, distributing homework, or drafting standardized lesson plans
