Virtual Student Mentor   $60,000 USD/year

Description

  • Hybrid AZ · W2 · $60K/yr

Licensed teachers ready to shift from classroom management to life-changing mentorship should consider this role.

Imagine a position where your responsibilities don't center on lesson planning, lecturing, or grading—but instead revolve entirely around mentoring young people to become self-assured, competent individuals.

Unbound Academy has intentionally redesigned the teaching model. This hybrid position supports a fully virtual, tuition-free Arizona charter school that trades traditional worksheets for experiential learning and prioritizes personal development. Students handle their core academic requirements independently through AI-powered platforms in two concentrated hours daily. Their remaining time is dedicated to developing practical skills via facilitated workshops, coaching sessions, and exploratory activities.

Your role won't involve delivering predetermined lessons or monitoring a virtual classroom. Instead, you'll facilitate dynamic online sessions that push students to think critically, innovate, collaborate, and mature. You'll guide them through storytelling, entrepreneurship, wellness, and critical thinking while fostering independence, self-assurance, and executive function capabilities.

This opportunity is not designed for educators attempting to recreate conventional schooling through Zoom. It's intended for licensed teachers prepared to relocate to Arizona, operate within a hybrid framework, and equip students with skills that genuinely prepare them for life beyond school. If you've moved past classroom administrative tasks and are prepared for the most impactful work of your professional life, continue reading.

  • Providing one-on-one and small-group mentorship to cultivate confidence, accountability, and executive functioning skills
  • Leveraging platform analytics and student indicators to customize support and monitor development over time
  • Working alongside fellow educators to design and refine project-based learning experiences on an ongoing basis
  • Establishing a supportive, high-energy atmosphere where students feel recognized, challenged, and inspired to develop

What you will NOT be doing

  • Instructing core academic subjects; adaptive AI tutors manage those areas
  • Presenting scripted lectures or overseeing a conventional classroom structure
  • Evaluating worksheets, distributing homework, or developing standardized lesson plans
