Youth Development Coach   $60,000 USD/year

Description

  • Hybrid AZ · W2 · $60K/yr

Licensed teachers seeking to transition from traditional classroom management to direct student mentorship are encouraged to apply.

Imagine a role where lesson planning, lecture delivery, and grading no longer define your day—replaced by meaningful mentoring that helps young people develop into confident, self-directed individuals.

Unbound Academy operates with an intentionally reimagined approach to education. This hybrid position supports a tuition-free, fully virtual Arizona charter school where worksheets give way to experiential learning and personal development takes priority. Students engage with core academics independently through AI-driven platforms during two concentrated daily hours. The remainder of their schedule is dedicated to cultivating practical competencies through facilitated workshops, coaching conversations, and exploratory activities.

Your responsibilities will not include delivering predetermined curricula or monitoring a conventional virtual classroom. Instead, you will facilitate dynamic online sessions designed to encourage critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and maturity. Your mentorship will guide students through storytelling exercises, entrepreneurial thinking, wellness practices, and analytical problem-solving—all while fostering independence, self-assurance, and executive function capabilities.

This opportunity is not suited for educators seeking to transpose traditional schooling into a remote format. It is designed for licensed teachers prepared to relocate to Arizona, operate within a hybrid framework, and equip students with competencies that translate directly into adulthood. If classroom administrative tasks no longer fulfill you and you are ready to engage in deeply impactful educational work, continue reading.

What you will be doing

  • Facilitating engaging virtual workshops centered on essential life competencies including communication, creativity, analytical reasoning, and self-management
  • Providing individualized and small-group mentorship to cultivate student confidence, accountability, and executive functioning skills
  • Leveraging platform analytics and behavioral indicators to tailor support strategies and monitor developmental trajectories
  • Working collaboratively with peer educators to develop and refine project-based learning frameworks
  • Establishing a supportive, energizing atmosphere where students feel recognized, intellectually challenged, and inspired to advance

What you will NOT be doing

  • Instructing foundational academic content; adaptive AI tutoring systems manage those areas
  • Presenting scripted material or operating within a conventional classroom structure
  • Evaluating worksheets, assigning traditional homework, or drafting standardized lesson outlines

Key responsibilities

Advance student maturity and life preparedness by facilitating transformative, practice-oriented learning experiences within a hybrid, fully virtual educational environment.

Candidate requirements

  • Available to begin employment at the end of July 2026
  • Current U.S. teaching certificate issued by any state, or a lapsed certificate that qualifies for reinstatement, with eligibility for Arizona certification
  • Demonstrated ability to engage students effectively through video-based instruction
  • Willing and able to fulfill hybrid role responsibilities in Arizona
