Youth Development Coach   $60,000 USD/year

Description

  • Hybrid AZ · W2 · $60K/yr

This role is for licensed teachers prepared to shift from traditional classroom management to direct impact on students' personal development.

Imagine a teaching position where lesson planning, lecturing, and grading take a back seat—and your primary focus becomes guiding young people toward confidence and capability.

Unbound Academy has reimagined the teaching model. This is a hybrid position within a tuition-free Arizona virtual charter school that prioritizes experiential learning over worksheets and centers development around the whole student. Core academics are completed independently by students in two concentrated hours daily using AI-driven platforms. The remaining time is dedicated to building practical competencies through facilitated workshops, mentorship, and exploration.

Your role will not involve delivering standardized curriculum or monitoring virtual classrooms for compliance. Instead, you'll facilitate dynamic online sessions designed to push students toward critical thinking, creativity, teamwork, and growth. You'll guide them through areas like storytelling, entrepreneurship, wellness, and decision-making while fostering independence, self-assurance, and executive functioning skills.

This position is not intended for educators seeking to recreate conventional schooling in a digital format. It is designed for licensed teachers ready to relocate to Arizona, operate within a hybrid structure, and prepare students for the demands of real life. If traditional classroom tasks no longer fulfill you and you're seeking work with lasting significance, this may be your opportunity.

What you will be doing

  • Facilitating engaging virtual workshops centered on life competencies including communication, creativity, critical thinking, and self-management
  • Providing individualized and small-group mentorship to foster confidence, accountability, and executive function development
  • Leveraging platform analytics and behavioral indicators to tailor support and monitor individual student trajectories
  • Partnering with other educators to develop and refine experiential, project-based learning modules
  • Cultivating a supportive, energized virtual space where students are recognized, challenged, and inspired to advance

What you will NOT be doing

  • Instructing traditional academic subjects; these are managed through adaptive AI-based tutoring systems
  • Presenting pre-written lectures or overseeing conventional classroom structures
  • Evaluating worksheets, distributing homework assignments, or drafting standardized lesson outlines

Key responsibilities

Drive student development and readiness for life by facilitating meaningful, practical learning opportunities within a hybrid virtual school environment.

Candidate requirements

  • Available to begin at the end of July 2026
  • Current U.S. teaching certificate from any state, or a lapsed certificate that can be reinstated, with eligibility for Arizona certification
  • Demonstrated ability to engage students effectively through video-based instruction
  • Willing and able to fulfill hybrid work responsibilities in Arizona
