Required: Master's degree in reading instruction OR advanced certification (Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, LETRS, or equivalent).

At Alpha School, you will execute an AI-powered reading program that redefines early literacy instruction. Facilitate brief, high-impact workshops instead of conventional hour-long sessions. Assess student needs, develop original evidence-based lessons independently, and contribute to building adaptive tools that extend your expertise to hundreds of learners. This position requires reading specialists who excel without rigid curricula and seek to advance scalable literacy innovation.

What you will be doing

  • Facilitating adaptive reading workshops that build foundational skills in phonics, fluency, and comprehension
  • Creating personalized motivational sessions that engage students and foster a lifelong love of reading
  • Examining student performance data to refine your methods continuously and identify actionable insights
  • Partnering with the tech team to assess and improve AI literacy tools

What you will NOT be doing

  • Following pre-scripted curricula or published scope-and-sequence

Candidate requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Master's degree or advanced certification in reading instruction (e.g., Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, or equivalent)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience delivering small-group reading interventions to early elementary students
  • Capable of assessing reading levels, grouping students, and creating differentiated instruction without pre-written curricula
  • Comfortable with AI/adaptive learning tools and responsive to student behaviors within them
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
  • Availability to work on-site at one of our campuses: Palo Alto, CA; San Francisco, CA; Santa Monica, CA; Chicago, IL; New York City, NY; Chantilly (Washington), VA
