Alpha School invites you to spearhead development of an AI-enhanced, scalable literacy program capable of generating more significant student advancement in 2 hours than traditional environments accomplish across an entire school day. You will create adaptive workshop frameworks, interpret live student performance data, and partner with engineering teams to develop literacy technologies that extend your instructional reach to hundreds of learners.

This position merges direct student interaction with innovative curriculum design, positioning you to influence individual reading trajectories while constructing scalable systems that deliver foundational literacy instruction across multiple school sites.

What you will be doing

  • Facilitating adaptive reading workshops focused on building core competencies in phonics, fluency, and comprehension
  • Creating individualized motivational experiences that engage young learners and foster enduring enthusiasm for reading
  • Examining student performance metrics to iteratively improve instructional methods and generate practical insights
  • Partnering with technology teams to assess and refine AI-powered literacy platforms

Candidate requirements

  • Bachelor's degree accompanied by advanced reading instruction certification (e.g., Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, or comparable credential)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience conducting small-group reading interventions with early elementary learners
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate reading proficiency, organize students into appropriate groups, and develop differentiated instruction independent of published curricula
  • Competence with AI and adaptive learning platforms, including responsiveness to student interaction patterns
  • Legal authorization for U.S. employment without need for sponsorship
  • Availability to work on-site at one of these campus locations: Chantilly (Washington), VA; Lake Forest (Orange County), CA; San Francisco, CA; Miami, FL; or New York City, NY
