Virtual Learning Assistant   $40,000 USD/year

Description

IMPORTANT NOTE: This position requires hybrid work with physical presence in Arizona.

What if your role was to keep students motivated, engaged, and eager to participate—without creating lessons, managing assessments, or shouldering academic delivery?

This position is designed for individuals who connect naturally with young people and operate best in dynamic environments. At Unbound Academy—a fully virtual, tuition-free charter school—students progress rapidly through core academics using AI-powered platforms, then transition into live, interactive workshops emphasizing life skills, teamwork, and personal growth. Your responsibility is to ensure these experiences flow seamlessly and feel meaningful to every student.

You will serve as the operational backbone of the student experience. You'll facilitate transitions, support small group interactions, maintain positive energy, and intervene when students need guidance or reassurance. You won't deliver instructional content—but the experience depends entirely on your presence.

If you've guided youth in summer camps, after-school settings, athletics, tutoring environments, or community programs—and you're drawn to a hybrid role combining virtual facilitation with in-person teamwork—this is an opportunity to restore the human element to education.

What you will be doing

  • Facilitating live virtual workshops by overseeing breakout rooms, managing transitions, adjusting pacing, and maintaining group cohesion
  • Promoting active participation using chat interactions, affirmations, gentle prompts, and individualized student outreach
  • Ensuring students remain motivated, self-assured, and socially connected throughout the instructional day
  • Supporting lead educators with operational coordination that ensures sessions proceed without disruption
  • Serving as a reliable, familiar presence within student clubs and life-skills programming

What you will NOT be doing

  • Delivering academic instruction or teaching subject-area content
  • Developing lesson plans, evaluating student work, or conducting academic assessments
  • Building curriculum or facilitating workshops without supervision
  • Remaining passive or taking a hands-off approach—this role demands high energy and continuous engagement

Key responsibilities

Enable dynamic, virtual learning environments by maintaining student engagement, organizational clarity, and sustained enthusiasm across all workshop activities.

Candidate requirements

  • Available to begin immediately or at the end of July (one of these two options).
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience mentoring, coaching, tutoring, or leading youth populations
  • Educational background from U.S., Canadian, or U.K. school systems (K–16); must have completed schooling in one of these countries
  • Excellent communication abilities and strong proficiency with digital collaboration tools
  • Energetic, student-centered demeanor with keen attention to detail and seamless facilitation skills
  • Able to commit to full-time hours, Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm U.S. Mountain Time (UTC-7)
  • Willing to participate in a hybrid role based in Arizona.
