Virtual Learning Assistant   $40,000 USD/year

Description

This role is designed for individuals who want to support young learners in building confidence and enthusiasm—without the responsibilities of grading or curriculum design.

Unbound Academy operates as a fully virtual, tuition-free charter school that prioritizes experiential learning over traditional worksheets and emphasizes personal development as a core outcome. Students complete their academic coursework in two concentrated hours each day using AI-driven platforms. The remainder of their day is spent in immersive workshop experiences designed to build curiosity, life skills, and self-assurance.

In this position, you will maintain momentum and ensure seamless operations. You'll guide students through transitions, facilitate engagement in small group settings, and provide encouragement when learners encounter obstacles. While you won't deliver instructional content, your contributions will be critical to the success of each session.

Candidates with experience leading youth in environments such as camps, athletics, tutoring, or youth development programs—and who want to help make education feel meaningful, personalized, and engaging—are encouraged to apply.

What you will be doing

  • Facilitating live virtual workshop sessions by coordinating breakout rooms, managing transitions, and organizing group activities
  • Encouraging student participation and enthusiasm through direct messaging, public recognition, and one-on-one engagement
  • Maintaining student focus, confidence, and connection throughout their virtual learning experiences
  • Providing operational support to lead educators to ensure workshops proceed without disruption
  • Serving as a positive cultural presence and reliable figure within student clubs and life skills programming

What you will NOT be doing

  • Delivering academic instruction or presenting subject-matter content
  • Developing lesson plans or evaluating student assignments
  • Building curriculum or facilitating workshops independently
  • Observing passively—this position requires active, dynamic involvement

Key responsibilities

Enable engaging, virtual learning environments by ensuring students remain organized, motivated, and fully involved in each workshop experience.

Candidate requirements

  • Willing to work 8am - 5pm M-F US Mountain Time (UTC-7)
  • At least 3 years of experience mentoring, coaching, tutoring, or leading youth
  • Educational background in US, Canadian, or UK school systems (K-16) - must have attended school in one of these countries (current location can be anywhere)
  • Strong communication skills and high comfort with digital platforms
  • Energizing, student-first presence with an eye for details and smooth transitions

Nice to have

  • Experience with online learning tools or youth enrichment programs
  • Background in after-school programs, summer camps, or club leadership
