Student Engagement Assistant   $40,000 USD/year

Description

If you're drawn to helping students feel engaged, motivated, and supported—without the burden of lesson planning or grading—this role is designed for you.

Unbound Academy is creating a tuition-free, fully virtual charter school that prioritizes immersive, hands-on learning over traditional worksheets and makes character development central to the student experience. Students complete their core academics in two concentrated hours using AI-driven platforms. The remainder of the day is devoted to something just as critical: interactive workshops designed to cultivate curiosity, resilience, and essential life skills.

In this position, you'll maintain momentum and ensure seamless operations. You'll guide students through transitions, foster participation in collaborative activities, and provide encouragement when learners face challenges. While you won't deliver academic instruction, your presence will be vital to ensuring every session unfolds effortlessly.

If you have experience guiding young people—whether through camps, athletics, tutoring, or youth organizations—and want to help redefine what school can be, this opportunity is worth your attention.

What you will be doing

  • Facilitating live virtual workshops by coordinating breakout rooms, managing transitions, and overseeing group-based activities
  • Encouraging student participation and motivation through chat messages, public recognition, and one-on-one outreach
  • Ensuring students remain engaged, confident, and connected throughout their learning experiences
  • Providing operational support to lead educators to maintain the seamless flow of each workshop
  • Serving as a culture champion and dependable presence within student clubs and life skills programming

What you will NOT be doing

  • Delivering academic instruction or teaching subject matter content
  • Developing lesson plans or evaluating student assignments
  • Building curriculum or facilitating workshops independently
  • Remaining passive—this role demands active involvement and sustained energy

Key responsibilities

Facilitate dynamic, virtual learning environments by ensuring students remain motivated, organized, and fully engaged during each workshop session.

Candidate requirements

  • Available to work 8am - 5pm M-F US Mountain Time (UTC-7)

  • Educational background in US, Canadian, or UK school systems (K-16) - must have attended school in one of these countries (current location can be anywhere)
  • Excellent communication abilities and strong proficiency with digital platforms
  • Student-centered, motivating presence with attention to detail and skill in managing smooth transitions

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with online learning platforms or youth enrichment initiatives
  • Experience in after-school programming, summer camps, or club leadership roles
