Student Engagement Assistant   $40,000 USD/year

Description

IMPORTANT NOTE: This is a hybrid role that requires physical presence in Arizona.

What if your role was to keep students energized, supported, and motivated to participate—without managing lesson plans, grading assignments, or academic instruction?

This position is designed for individuals who connect naturally with kids and excel in dynamic environments. At Unbound Academy's fully virtual, tuition-free charter school, students progress rapidly through academics using AI-powered tools, then transition into live, interactive workshops centered on life skills, teamwork, and personal growth. Your responsibility is to ensure those experiences run seamlessly and feel meaningful for every student.

You'll serve as the connective force behind the experience. You'll facilitate transitions, guide small groups, maintain high energy, and provide support when a student needs encouragement or direction. You won't deliver content—but the experience depends on you to function effectively.

If you've worked with kids in camps, after-school settings, athletics, tutoring programs, or youth-focused organizations—and you're drawn to a hybrid role combining virtual engagement with in-person collaboration—this is an opportunity to make school feel human again.

What you will be doing

  • Facilitating live virtual workshops by overseeing breakout rooms, transitions, pacing, and group dynamics
  • Promoting participation through chat engagement, shout-outs, prompts, and one-on-one student check-ins
  • Ensuring students remain engaged, confident, and connected throughout their learning day
  • Supporting lead educators with operational logistics that keep sessions flowing smoothly
  • Serving as a reliable, trusted presence across student clubs and life-skills programming

What you will NOT be doing

  • Delivering academic instruction or teaching subject-specific content
  • Developing lesson plans, grading assignments, or conducting academic assessments
  • Building curriculum or facilitating workshops independently
  • Operating passively or observing from the sidelines—this is a high-energy, hands-on role

Key responsibilities

Facilitate dynamic, virtual learning experiences by keeping students engaged, organized, and energized throughout every workshop session.

Candidate requirements

  • Available to start immediately or at the end of July (one of the two).
  • At least 3 years of experience mentoring, coaching, tutoring, or leading youth
  • Educational background within U.S., Canadian, or U.K. school systems (K–16); must have attended school in one of these countries
  • Strong communication skills and high comfort operating across digital platforms
  • Energizing, student-first presence with strong attention to detail and smooth transitions
  • Willing to work full-time, Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm U.S. Mountain Time (UTC-7)
  • Willing to work in a hybrid role in Arizona.
