Online Youth Mentor   $40,000 USD/year

Description

Imagine a role focused entirely on helping young learners feel energized, confident, and ready to engage—without the burden of lesson planning or grading.

Unbound Academy is creating a fully virtual, tuition-free charter school that replaces traditional worksheets with experiential learning and places personal development at the center. Students complete their academic work in two concentrated hours using AI-powered platforms. The remainder of their day is devoted to something just as important: interactive workshops designed to build life skills, curiosity, and self-assurance.

In this position, you'll maintain momentum and ensure seamless operations. You'll guide students through transitions, encourage participation in small group settings, and step in to inspire learners when they hit a wall. Content instruction isn't part of your remit, but you'll be critical to ensuring each session unfolds flawlessly.

If you've worked with young people in any capacity—camps, athletics, tutoring, youth development—and you're prepared to make education feel meaningful, intentional, and engaging, this opportunity may be your ideal next step.

What you will be doing

  • Facilitating live virtual workshops by coordinating breakout rooms, transitions, and collaborative activities
  • Encouraging students and fostering participation through chat messages, verbal recognition, and individual outreach
  • Keeping young learners engaged, confident, and connected throughout their educational experience
  • Supporting lead educators with operational logistics that ensure workshops proceed without disruption
  • Serving as a culture champion and reliable presence within student clubs and life skills programming

What you will NOT be doing

  • Delivering academic instruction or presenting subject matter content
  • Developing lesson plans or evaluating student assignments
  • Building curriculum or facilitating workshops independently
  • Remaining passive—this is an active, dynamic position

Key responsibilities

Facilitate dynamic, virtual learning environments by ensuring students remain engaged, organized, and motivated across all workshop sessions.

Candidate requirements

  • Available to work 8am - 5pm M-F US Mountain Time (UTC-7)
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience mentoring, coaching, tutoring, or leading youth
  • Educational background in US, Canadian, or UK school systems (K-16) - must have attended school in one of these countries (current location can be anywhere)
  • Excellent communication abilities and strong proficiency with digital platforms
  • Energetic, student-centered approach with attention to detail and seamless facilitation

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with online learning tools or youth enrichment programs
  • Experience in after-school programs, summer camps, or club leadership
