Description

Waypoint Academy is reimagining education by replacing traditional classroom lectures with adventure-driven life skills development and AI-powered adaptive academics. Instead of sitting through passive instruction, students develop public speaking abilities on outdoor trails, cultivate leadership through collaborative challenges, and progress academically at twice the standard pace using personalized learning technology.

This role is about coaching, not conventional teaching. You'll guide K-12 students toward self-discovery through outdoor experiential workshops and motivational goal-setting sessions. Your focus is leading nature-immersive activities that develop tangible skills—focus, communication, teamwork—rather than delivering static curriculum. High-performing individuals who envision a fundamentally transformed educational model succeed here. You'll witness measurable, immediate transformation as students evolve from disengaged learners into self-assured achievers.

Dripping Springs delivers Hill Country natural beauty just 30 minutes from Austin's technology hub, renowned live music venues, and celebrated culinary scene. Over 300 sunny days annually, proximity to Barton Springs, and year-round outdoor recreation.

Coach the transformation. Lead the experience. Apply today.

What you will be doing

  • Facilitating 1-hour outdoor life-skills workshops (public speaking, focus, leadership, teamwork) using nature-based challenges and adventure-style experiences
  • Conducting brief, high-impact motivational coaching sessions where students pursue academic targets with adaptive learning software
  • Animating curriculum through storytelling, tailored approaches, and dynamic energy that sustains K-12 student engagement
  • Implementing safety protocols and outdoor decision-making (route selection, weather monitoring, equipment inspection, Leave No Trace principles) according to Waypoint's field standards
  • Evaluating skill proficiency by having students demonstrate real-world application of life skills
  • Maintaining rigorous excellence standards while serving as an approachable, motivating role model students genuinely respect

Candidate requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in any subject
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working with K-12 students in school, camp, coaching, or outdoor programs
  • Proven track record of high achievement (academically, athletically, or professionally)
  • Compelling public speaker who can energize and hold attention for large groups of students, indoors and outdoors
  • Natural ability to relate to K-12 learners, their interests, and culture, not as a "buddy" but as a positive role model who pushes them to grow
  • Legal right to work in the United States without visa sponsorship
  • Willingness to work in-person at Waypoint Academy's campus in Dripping Springs, TX (near Austin)
