Description

  • IMPORTANT NOTE: This is a full-time, in-person employee role located at our Dripping Springs (Austin, TX) campus

Waypoint Academy is on a mission to make kids love school again by combining accelerated academics with adventure-based life skills. We’re looking for someone who sees kids not as passive learners, but as capable, curious individuals who thrive when challenged and inspired.

This is not a teaching job. It’s a coaching, motivating, story-leading, goal-smashing role. You’ll lead small groups of K–12 students through outdoor life-skill workshops — think public speaking, leadership, and teamwork, delivered via nature-based challenges and games. You’ll also run short motivational sessions that help students hit academic goals on our adaptive software apps. Your impact is immediate and measurable: kids leave your sessions more confident, more capable, and more excited to learn.

Waypoint is one of the most innovative K–12 schools in the country. We combine the best of outdoor education, elite academic tools, and personal growth coaching — all on a beautiful campus near Austin, TX. If you’ve ever thought, “School should be different,” this is your chance to make it so.

What you will be doing

  • Leading engaging outdoor workshops that teach life skills like focus, communication, and leadership
  • Motivating students in short, focused coaching sessions to hit learning goals using adaptive academic software
  • Customizing each workshop using provided curriculum, storytelling, and your own creative energy
  • Applying safety protocols and outdoor judgment (e.g., weather checks, gear reviews, basic risk management)
  • Guiding students to demonstrate real-world skill mastery through “Test2Pass” assessments

What you will NOT be doing

  • Stuck inside all day — this is an active, outdoor-facing role
  • Following rigid lesson plans without flexibility — you bring the content to life
  • Spending your days on paperwork and admin — your focus is on student growth, not forms

Key responsibilities

Equip K–12 students to accelerate academically and grow as confident, capable individuals through dynamic outdoor coaching and personalized motivation.

Candidate requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in any subject
  • At least 3 years of experience working with K–12 students (school, camp, coaching, or outdoor programs)
  • Demonstrated track record of elite performance (academic, athletic, or professional)
  • Legal right to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship
  • Willingness to work in-person at our campus in Dripping Springs (near Austin, TX)

Nice to have

  • First aid or wilderness safety training
