The greatest support you can offer a struggling student is holding the standard high. If that resonates with you — and if you'd rather take a group into the field to demonstrate it than lecture about it in a classroom — read on.
This role is not traditional teaching. Students at Waypoint Academy don't sit in rows listening to lessons. They advance through adaptive learning software at their own speed while you coach them on focus, perseverance, and reaching their goals. You'll take them outdoors: one-hour life-skills sessions covering public speaking, teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving, delivered through adventure-based, experiential activities designed to be both challenging and engaging. Every session ends with a Test2Pass mastery check — students must demonstrate the target skill in context before completion.
The remainder of your time is spent on motivation sessions: brief, one-on-one coaching conversations informed by Coachbot analytics, where you engage with students and guide them toward their academic objectives. You'll see students shift from hesitant learners to capable achievers — visibly and quickly. Your performance is transparent: student satisfaction scores (90% target) and weekly goal completion (100% target).
High performers advance to senior coaching positions: leading a team and influencing how the school motivates and develops its students. Beyond that is full school ownership — accountability for outcomes, culture, and operations. Dripping Springs sits 30 minutes from Austin's technology sector, live music venues, and culinary scene, offering 300+ days of sunshine and year-round Hill Country outdoor recreation.
