K-12 Learning Coach   $100,000 USD/year

Description

  • Based on-site in Dripping Springs (Austin region), TX
  • $100,000 annual salary, distributed weekly. Full health, dental, and vision coverage from day one
  • Relocating? We provide relocation assistance

Waypoint Academy is redefining K-12 education by swapping traditional lectures for adventure-driven life-skills training and AI-powered personalized academics. Rather than sitting in rows while you present material, students develop public speaking skills on outdoor trails, cultivate leadership through collaborative challenges, and progress academically at twice the typical pace using tailored software.

This role is not traditional teaching—it's coaching K-12 learners to unlock their capabilities via outdoor workshops and motivational goal-setting sessions. You will facilitate nature-based experiences that develop tangible competencies (concentration, communication, collaboration), not deliver standard curriculum. High achievers who envision a fundamentally reimagined education system excel in this environment. You will witness students evolve from hesitant participants to self-assured high performers, with measurable and immediate results.

Dripping Springs delivers Texas Hill Country scenery just 30 minutes from Austin's thriving technology sector, renowned live music venues, and culinary offerings. Over 300 days of sunshine annually, access to Barton Springs, and year-round outdoor recreation.

What you will be doing

  • Facilitating 1-hour outdoor life-skills sessions (public speaking, concentration, leadership, collaboration) using nature-based challenges and adventure-style programming
  • Conducting brief, results-focused motivational sessions where you guide students toward academic targets using adaptive learning software
  • Animating curriculum through storytelling, personalization, and dynamic energy that sustains high engagement across K-12 learners
  • Implementing safety procedures and outdoor best practices (route selection, weather assessment, equipment inspection, Leave No Trace fundamentals) according to Waypoint's operational standards
  • Evaluating skill acquisition where students demonstrate their ability to utilize the life skill in authentic real-world situations
  • Maintaining rigorous standards of excellence while serving as an approachable, motivating role model students genuinely respect
