K-12 Learning Coach   $100,000 USD/year

Description

  • On-campus position in Dripping Springs (Austin metro), TX
  • $100,000 annual compensation, disbursed weekly. Full health, dental, and vision coverage begins on day one
  • Considering a move? Relocation assistance is provided

Waypoint Academy has eliminated traditional lectures in favor of adventure-driven life-skills training and AI-powered personalized academics. Instead of sitting through classroom instruction, students develop public speaking competence outdoors, cultivate leadership through collaborative challenges, and progress academically at twice the typical pace via adaptive technology.

This role is not conventional teaching. You will coach K-12 learners to unlock their capabilities through experiential outdoor workshops and individualized goal-setting sessions. Your focus will be facilitating nature-integrated activities that cultivate concrete competencies—concentration, communication, collaboration—rather than delivering traditional lessons. High-caliber professionals who envision a radically reimagined educational model succeed here. You will witness measurable, immediate transformation as students shift from disengaged learners to self-assured performers.

Dripping Springs delivers Hill Country scenery just 30 minutes from Austin's technology hub, live music venues, and culinary landscape. Over 300 days of sunshine annually, proximity to Barton Springs, and year-round outdoor recreation.

Guide the transformation. Direct the journey. Submit your application today.

What you will be doing

  • Facilitating 1-hour outdoor life-competency workshops (public speaking, concentration, leadership, collaboration) via nature-integrated challenges and adventure-format activities
  • Conducting brief, results-focused motivational sessions where you guide students toward academic milestones using adaptive technology
  • Animating curriculum through narrative techniques, personalization, and dynamic delivery that sustains K-12 student engagement at high levels
  • Implementing safety standards and field judgment (trail planning, weather evaluation, equipment inspection, Leave No Trace fundamentals) according to Waypoint's operational guidelines
  • Evaluating competency mastery by having students demonstrate their ability to apply life skills in authentic contexts
  • Maintaining rigorous standards of excellence while serving as an approachable, motivating mentor students genuinely respect and admire

Candidate requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in any discipline
  • At least 3 years of documented experience with K-12 students in educational, camp, coaching, or outdoor program settings
  • Demonstrated history of high performance (in academics, athletics, or professional endeavors)
  • Engaging public speaker capable of captivating and maintaining attention with large student groups, both indoors and outdoors
  • Innate capacity to connect with K-12 learners, their interests, and their world—not as a peer but as an influential role model who challenges them to develop
  • Authorized to work legally in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship
  • Ready to work on-site at Waypoint Academy's Dripping Springs, TX campus (Austin vicinity)
