Do you believe literacy is every child's right, yet find yourself frustrated by ineffective systems that limit their growth?

Alpha School demonstrates that meaningful literacy progress doesn't demand traditional 6-hour instructional days. We combine AI-adaptive platforms with specialized teaching to produce accelerated reading outcomes. Your role: create and implement workshops that yield quantifiable improvements in phonics mastery, reading fluency, and comprehension for primary-grade learners.

This position emphasizes data-informed teaching, technology integration, and constructing a reading framework designed to scale across thousands of learners—not administrative busywork.

Dorado advantages: Beautiful coastal access within minutes. Dynamic bilingual environment with proximity to San Juan's arts and culture, while preserving a relaxed community atmosphere.

What you will be doing

  • Facilitating adaptive reading workshops that strengthen phonics knowledge, comprehension abilities, and fluency development
  • Creating individualized motivational experiences through gamified literacy achievement markers
  • Examining student performance metrics to optimize teaching methods and extract practical learning insights
  • Partnering with engineering teams to assess and improve AI-powered literacy platforms using real classroom feedback
  • Building scalable, AI-integrated instructional content that supports early elementary learners in reaching grade-level reading proficiency

What you will NOT be doing

  • Conducting traditional front-of-room lectures — learning happens through self-directed AI applications, not teacher-centered delivery
  • Adhering to rigid packaged curricula or scripted teaching guides — workshop design is your creative responsibility
  • Instructing core academic content areas — your specialization is reading workshop facilitation and motivational support, not mathematics or science instruction
  • Managing behavior or supervising without purpose — each session centers on defined learning targets with trackable results
  • Operating independently — your work involves direct partnership with the engineers who develop the AI resources students interact with

Key responsibilities

Drive grade-level or above reading achievement for every K-2 student in your assigned cohort by delivering AI-enhanced workshops that transform phonics instruction into experiences that are engaging, data-informed, and effective

Candidate requirements

  • Bachelor's degree plus either a Master's in reading instruction OR structured literacy certification (Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, IMSE, CERI, LETRS, Neuhaus, UFLI, or equivalent)
  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish (essential for interaction with students and families)
  • 2+ years of experience providing small-group reading interventions to early elementary learners
  • Competent in assessing reading proficiency, organizing student groups, and creating differentiated instruction independently of pre-developed curricula
  • Experienced with AI/adaptive learning platforms and attentive to student engagement dynamics
