Do you believe every student deserves to achieve grade-level reading proficiency (or higher), but find yourself frustrated by ineffective systems that squander their promise?

Alpha School demonstrates that literacy transformation doesn't demand 6-hour instructional days. Our 2-Hour Learning framework combines AI-adaptive technology with specialized teaching to accelerate reading development. Your objective: create and implement workshops that produce quantifiable improvements in phonics, fluency, and comprehension for students in early elementary grades.

This role isn't about administrative lesson planning. It's about data-informed teaching, technology integration, and constructing a literacy program that scales to serve thousands of learners.

Dorado advantages: Immaculate coastline within minutes. Dynamic bilingual environment with convenient access to San Juan's arts and culture, all while preserving small-town living standards.

What you will be doing

  • Conducting adaptive literacy workshops focused on phonics, comprehension, and fluency development
  • Creating individualized motivational experiences leveraging gamified reading achievement markers
  • Reviewing student performance metrics to optimize teaching methods and identify actionable patterns
  • Partnering with engineering teams to assess and improve AI-powered literacy platforms informed by classroom outcomes
  • Building scalable, AI-integrated instructional content that supports early elementary learners in reaching grade-level reading competency

What you will NOT be doing

  • Standing at the front delivering traditional lectures — students progress through self-directed AI applications, not passive listening
  • Adhering to pre-built curriculum packages or scripted teaching plans — you construct your workshops independently
  • Instructing in core academic disciplines — your scope is literacy workshops and motivational support, not mathematics or science instruction
  • Managing behavior or providing childcare — each session maintains defined learning goals with quantifiable results
  • Operating independently — you engage directly with the engineers developing the AI systems your students interact with each day

Key responsibilities

Guarantee that every K-2 student within your group achieves at or above grade-level reading standards via AI-enhanced workshops that transform phonics instruction into engaging, trackable, and enjoyable learning experiences

  • Bachelor's degree accompanied by either a Master's in reading instruction OR structured literacy certification (Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, IMSE, CERI, LETRS, Neuhaus, UFLI, or equivalent)
  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish (necessary for learner and family communication)
  • 2+ years conducting small-group literacy interventions with early elementary populations
  • Competent in evaluating reading abilities, organizing student groups, and crafting differentiated instruction independent of pre-authored curricula
  • Experienced with AI/adaptive educational technologies and attentive to student behavioral trends
