Do you believe every student should achieve grade-level reading proficiency (or beyond), but feel frustrated watching ineffective systems squander their promise?

Alpha School demonstrates that literacy transformation doesn't demand 6-hour instructional days. Our 2-Hour Learning framework combines AI-adaptive technology with specialized teaching to accelerate reading development. Your role: create and implement workshops that produce quantifiable improvements in phonics, fluency, and comprehension for early elementary learners.

This role emphasizes data-informed teaching, technology integration, and constructing a reading curriculum that scales to thousands of students—not administrative busywork.

Dorado advantages: Stunning coastline within minutes. Dynamic bilingual setting with convenient connections to San Juan's arts and culture, while preserving relaxed community living.

What you will be doing

  • Facilitating adaptive reading workshops that strengthen phonics, comprehension, and fluency capabilities
  • Creating individualized motivational experiences through gamified literacy achievement markers
  • Reviewing student performance metrics to optimize teaching methods and identify meaningful trends
  • Partnering with engineering teams to assess and improve AI literacy platforms using real classroom feedback
  • Building scalable, AI-integrated materials that help early elementary learners reach grade-level reading standards

What you will NOT be doing

  • Presenting traditional classroom lectures — learning happens through independent AI applications, not one-way instruction
  • Adhering to prebuilt curricula or scripted teaching guides — you construct your workshops independently
  • Instructing other academic content areas — your domain is reading workshops and motivational support, not mathematics or science instruction
  • Managing behavior or providing childcare — each session targets specific learning goals with trackable results
  • Operating independently — you work closely with engineers who develop the AI systems your students engage with every day

Key responsibilities

Guarantee that every K-2 learner in your group achieves at or above grade-level reading through AI-powered workshops that transform phonics instruction into captivating, quantifiable, and enjoyable experiences

Candidate requirements

  • Bachelor's degree plus either a Master's in reading instruction OR structured literacy certification (Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, IMSE, CERI, LETRS, Neuhaus, UFLI, or equivalent)
  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish (essential for learner and family communication)
  • 2+ years implementing small-group reading interventions with early elementary students
  • Capable of evaluating reading proficiency, organizing student groups, and creating differentiated lessons without prewritten materials
  • Comfortable working with AI/adaptive learning platforms and adjusting to student behavioral data
