Do you believe that every child should read at grade level or higher, yet find yourself frustrated by systems that fail to unlock their potential?

Alpha School demonstrates that significant literacy gains do not depend on extended school days. We combine AI-adaptive platforms with skilled teaching through our 2-Hour Learning framework to produce accelerated reading outcomes. Your role: create and implement workshops that generate quantifiable improvements in phonics, fluency, and comprehension for students in early elementary grades.

This role focuses on data-informed teaching, technology integration, and constructing a reading intervention program designed to serve thousands of learners—not administrative busywork.

Life in Dorado: Beautiful coastline within minutes. A dynamic bilingual setting with convenient proximity to San Juan's arts and culture, all while enjoying the benefits of a close-knit community.

What you will be doing

  • Conducting adaptive reading workshops focused on phonics, comprehension, and fluency development
  • Creating personalized motivational experiences incorporating gamified literacy benchmarks
  • Reviewing student performance data to refine teaching methods and generate actionable recommendations
  • Partnering with engineering teams to assess and improve AI-powered literacy platforms based on real classroom outcomes
  • Building scalable, AI-integrated content that supports early elementary learners in reaching grade-level reading proficiency

What you will NOT be doing

  • Leading traditional front-of-room lectures — students engage through AI-driven self-paced applications, not passive listening
  • Adhering to off-the-shelf curricula or scripted lessons — you create original workshops tailored to student needs
  • Instructing other academic content areas — your scope is reading intervention and motivational coaching, not mathematics or science
  • Managing behavior without purpose — each session is structured around explicit learning targets and measurable progress
  • Operating independently — you work closely with the engineers responsible for the AI tools students interact with every day

Key responsibilities

Ensure every K-2 student in your cohort achieves at or above grade-level reading through AI-accelerated workshop sessions that transform phonics instruction into engaging, trackable, and enjoyable learning experiences

Candidate requirements

  • Bachelor's degree plus either a Master's degree in reading instruction OR structured literacy certification (Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, IMSE, CERI, LETRS, Neuhaus, UFLI, or equivalent)
  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish (essential for engaging students and families)
  • 2+ years of experience providing small-group reading interventions to students in early elementary grades
  • Expertise in evaluating reading levels, forming instructional groups, and creating differentiated lessons independent of pre-packaged curricula
  • Comfortable using AI and adaptive learning technologies and interpreting student engagement data
