Alpha is opening a flagship campus in this city, and we're looking for a leader who already knows Houston's educational landscape. You will manage a team of 15 plus Guides who coach and inspire students while our EdTech platform delivers all instruction. No traditional "teaching." High-impact action. Pure leadership.
Your goal: make certain every student enjoys school, progresses at twice the speed of conventional classrooms, and develops essential life skills. This is not a conventional Principal position. You will uphold rigorous standards, rely on data to make decisions, and establish Houston's top-performing school from the outset.

What you will be doing
- Launch Alpha's flagship Houston site: Execute Alpha's three core commitments for 100 plus students starting on day one, maintaining operational excellence in every area.
- Facilitate live workshops with K through 12 students on life skills: Conduct one-hour sessions covering public speaking, growth mindset, and feedback practices. Apply Alpha's proven framework to ensure students acquire critical skills that traditional schools overlook—while keeping it engaging.
- Drive every student toward 100 percent goal achievement: Develop individualized motivational strategies for each learner. Apply data-driven methods to address resistance and sustain engagement with the Alpha platform. Success is defined by every student reaching their objectives.
- Develop Guides through effective coaching: Leverage quantitative and qualitative metrics to pinpoint performance shortfalls. Provide direct, actionable guidance during coaching sessions and monitor progress. Maintain accountability through logic and objectivity, not empathy that lowers standards.
- Lead campus operations with data-informed decisions: Evaluate performance in staffing, operations, parent engagement, and culture. Identify issues, perform root cause analysis, consult relevant stakeholders, and execute measurable improvements. Document each decision and refine based on outcomes.
- Uphold excellence with unwavering standards: Establish and sustain Alpha's quality expectations for both students and staff. Take decisive action when performance does not meet the mark. Model the standard of excellence across your campus.
Candidate requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Business, or related field. Master's preferred.
- At least 7 years of experience in education, learning and development, coaching, business, or related field
- Direct experience building and managing teams of at least 15 people with full hiring and firing authority
- Deep knowledge of the Houston or wider Texas education landscape. This insight into local student needs, community dynamics, and competitive school environment is highly valuable to Alpha's Houston launch.
- Experience working with youth ages 5 through 14
- Strong data analysis skills and experience using metrics to drive decision-making and continuous improvement
- Passion for transforming education. Belief that the traditional system is fundamentally broken.
- Startup mindset: thrives under pressure, adaptable in new situations, comfortable building systems from scratch
- Compelling and energetic speaker who commands attention from rooms full of students or staff
- Able to relate to K through 12 students, understand their interests and culture, serve as a positive role model
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
