Are you tired of seeing Houston students constrained by a system that prevents you from upholding the standards they need?

Alpha is opening its flagship campus in this city, and we're looking for a leader who knows Houston's educational landscape firsthand. You will oversee 15 plus Guides who mentor and inspire students, while our EdTech platform delivers all instruction. No teaching responsibilities. High-impact execution. Direct leadership.

Your objective: guarantee that every student enjoys school, achieves learning outcomes at twice the pace of conventional classrooms, and develops essential life competencies. This position differs fundamentally from a traditional Principal role. You will maintain rigorous standards, base decisions on data, and construct Houston's premier school from the ground up.

What you will be doing

  • Establish Alpha's flagship Houston campus: Execute Alpha's three core commitments for 100 plus students from launch day, maintaining operational excellence in all areas.
  • Facilitate live life-skills workshops for K through 12 students: Conduct compelling one-hour sessions covering public speaking, growth mindset, and feedback exchange. Apply Alpha's established methodology to ensure students acquire competencies overlooked by traditional schools while remaining engaged and enthusiastic.
  • Drive 100 percent goal achievement across the student body: Develop customized motivational frameworks for each individual student. Apply data-informed strategies to address disengagement and sustain student interaction with the Alpha platform. Success is defined by every student reaching their benchmarks.
  • Develop Guides through targeted coaching: Leverage quantitative and qualitative metrics to pinpoint performance shortfalls. Provide specific, implementable feedback during coaching interactions and monitor progress. Maintain team accountability through logic and objective assessment, not empathy that undermines standards.
  • Execute data-informed campus leadership: Evaluate performance spanning staff effectiveness, operational execution, parent engagement, and campus culture. Identify challenges, perform root cause investigations, engage relevant stakeholders, and deploy measurable interventions. Document every decision and refine strategy based on outcomes.
  • Uphold uncompromising standards of excellence: Establish and preserve Alpha's performance expectations for both students and personnel. Execute difficult decisions when performance does not meet requirements. Model the standard of excellence across your campus.

Candidate requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Business, or related discipline. Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in education, learning and development, coaching, business, or a related sector
  • Demonstrated experience building and leading teams of at least 15 individuals with complete hiring and termination authority
  • Comprehensive understanding of Houston or broader Texas education environment. This familiarity with local student requirements, community context, and competitive school landscape is critically important for Alpha's Houston launch.
  • Professional experience working with youth between the ages of 5 and 14
  • Robust data analysis capabilities and proven track record using performance metrics to guide decision-making and drive continuous improvement
  • Commitment to educational transformation. Conviction that the conventional system is fundamentally ineffective.
  • Startup orientation: excels under pressure, flexible in dynamic environments, confident building infrastructure from the ground up
  • Dynamic and persuasive communicator who captures the attention of audiences composed of students or staff
  • Capable of connecting with K through 12 students, comprehending their interests and cultural context, and functioning as an exemplary role model
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
