Description

  • Springfield, MA
  • $200,000 annual salary
  • Day-one health benefits

Have you watched Springfield students held back by a system that prevents you from upholding the standards they need to succeed?

Alpha is opening a new campus in the city, and we are seeking a leader who knows Springfield's educational landscape firsthand. You will manage a team of 15+ Guides who support and motivate students as our EdTech platform delivers all instruction. No traditional teaching. Focused action. Direct leadership.

Your objective: make certain every student loves school, learns at twice the pace of traditional classrooms, and develops essential life skills. This is not a conventional Principal position. You will uphold rigorous standards, make decisions based on data, and establish Springfield's highest-performing school from the start.

Lead through data. Coach toward excellence. Apply today.

What you will be doing

  • Launch our Springfield, MA campus: Execute Alpha's three core promises to 100+ students from day one with operational precision at every level.
  • Facilitate live workshops for K-8 students focused on life skills: Lead one-hour sessions on topics including public speaking, growth mindset, and giving and receiving feedback. Follow Alpha's structured approach to help students master skills that traditional schools overlook while maintaining engagement and enjoyment.
  • Drive every student to reach 100% of their goals: Develop personalized motivational strategies for each student. Apply data-informed methods to address resistance and sustain engagement with the Alpha platform. Success is defined by every student meeting their targets.
  • Develop Guides to meet excellence and maintain Alpha's standards: Leverage data to pinpoint performance shortfalls, provide clear feedback, and monitor progress. Execute difficult decisions when performance does not meet expectations and model the standard on your campus.
  • Execute data-informed leadership decisions for campus operations: Review performance data related to staff, operations, parent engagement, and culture. Identify issues, perform root cause analysis, engage stakeholders, implement changes with measurable outcomes. Monitor every decision and refine based on evidence.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Teaching or tutoring students. Students engage with Alpha's self-directed EdTech platform rather than receiving passive instruction from adults.
  • Creating lesson plans or curriculum. Alpha's framework is established. Your responsibility is execution and leadership, not developing instructional content.
  • Overseeing budgets or recruiting staff. Corporate functions manage finance and hiring. Your focus remains entirely on campus outcomes and culture.
  • Serving as the subject-matter expert. This position is 80% leadership and engagement, 20% education. You motivate, the platform delivers instruction.

Key responsibilities

Execute Alpha's three promises: every student loves school, learns at twice the pace, and masters life skills — at a newly opened Springfield campus from the first day.

Candidate requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Business, or related field. Master's preferred.
  • At least 7 years of experience in education, learning and development, coaching, business, or related field.
  • Direct experience building and managing teams of at least 15 people with full hiring and firing authority.
  • Deep knowledge of the Springfield, MA education landscape.
  • Experience working with youth ages 5 - 14.
  • Strong data analysis skills and experience using metrics to drive decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Passion for transforming education. Belief that the traditional system is fundamentally broken.
  • Startup mindset: thrives under pressure, adaptable in new situations, comfortable building systems from scratch.
  • Compelling and energetic speaker who commands attention from rooms full of students or staff.
  • Able to relate to K-8 students, understand their interests and culture, and serve as a positive role model.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.
