Alpha is opening a flagship campus in this city, and we're looking for a leader who knows Houston's education landscape inside and out. You'll manage 15 plus Guides who coach and inspire students while our EdTech platform delivers all instruction. No "teaching". All action. Pure leadership.
Your goal: make sure every student loves coming to school, learns at twice the pace of conventional classrooms, and gains essential life skills. This isn't a conventional Principal position. You'll maintain rigorous standards, rely on data to guide decisions, and create Houston's top-performing school from the ground up.

What you will be doing
- Launch Alpha's flagship Houston campus: Execute Alpha's three core promises for 100 plus students from day one while maintaining operational excellence in every area.
- Facilitate live workshops for K through 12 students on life skills: Lead one-hour sessions on public speaking, growth mindset, and giving and receiving feedback. Use Alpha's playbook to help students build skills traditional schools overlook while keeping it engaging and fun.
- Drive every student to 100 percent goal achievement: Develop personalized motivational strategies for each student. Apply data-driven methods to break through resistance and maintain engagement with the Alpha platform. Success is defined by every student reaching their targets.
- Develop Guides through targeted coaching: Leverage quantitative and qualitative data to pinpoint performance shortfalls. Provide specific, actionable feedback during coaching conversations and monitor progress. Maintain accountability with objectivity and logic, not empathy that dilutes standards.
- Lead campus operations with data-informed decisions: Assess performance across staff, operations, parent engagement, and culture. Identify issues, perform root cause analysis, engage stakeholders, and implement changes with measurable outcomes. Monitor every decision and refine based on results.
- Uphold excellence with zero compromise: Establish and sustain Alpha's performance standards for both students and staff. Make difficult decisions when performance doesn't meet expectations. Serve as the model of excellence on your campus.
Candidate requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Business, or related field. Master's preferred.
- At least 7 years of experience in education, learning and development, coaching, business, or related field
- Direct experience building and managing teams of at least 15 people with full hiring and firing authority
- Deep knowledge of the Houston or wider Texas education landscape. This insight into local student needs, community dynamics, and competitive school environment is highly valuable to Alpha's Houston launch.
- Experience working with youth ages 5 through 14
- Strong data analysis skills and experience using metrics to drive decision-making and continuous improvement
- Passion for transforming education. Belief that the traditional system is fundamentally broken.
- Startup mindset: thrives under pressure, adaptable in new situations, comfortable building systems from scratch
- Compelling and energetic speaker who commands attention from rooms full of students or staff
- Able to relate to K through 12 students, understand their interests and culture, serve as a positive role model
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
