Description

  • Springfield, MA
  • $200,000 annual salary
  • Day-one health benefits

Are you frustrated by Springfield's educational system that prevents you from holding students to the standards they need?

Alpha is opening a new campus in this city, and we're looking for a leader who knows Springfield's education environment firsthand. You will oversee 15+ Guides who coach and inspire students, while our EdTech platform delivers all instruction. No traditional "teaching". Maximum action. Leadership at its core.

Your objective: make sure every student loves school, learns at twice the rate of conventional classrooms, and gains essential life skills. This Principal position is unlike any other. You will uphold rigorous standards, rely on data for decisions, and create Springfield's top school starting on day one.

Lead through data. Coach toward excellence. Apply today.

What you will be doing

  • Launch Alpha's Springfield, MA campus: Execute Alpha's three core promises for 100+ students from the start, maintaining operational excellence in every area.
  • Facilitate live workshops teaching life skills to K-8 students: Conduct one-hour sessions focused on public speaking, growth mindset, and feedback skills. Follow Alpha's established playbook to help students master competencies traditional schools overlook, all while keeping it engaging.
  • Drive every student to achieve 100% of their objectives: Develop personalized motivational strategies for each student. Apply data-informed methods to address resistance and sustain engagement with the Alpha platform. Success is defined by every student reaching their goals.
  • Develop Guides to high performance and uphold Alpha's quality standards: Leverage data to spot performance issues, provide clear feedback, and monitor progress. Make difficult decisions when standards aren't met and model the expectations you set for your campus.
  • Lead campus decisions using data: Evaluate performance metrics spanning staff, operations, parent relations, and campus culture. Identify challenges, perform root cause analysis, engage stakeholders, and implement changes you can measure. Monitor every decision and refine strategies based on outcomes.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Teaching or tutoring students. The Alpha self-guided EdTech platform enables student learning, not traditional lectures delivered by adults.
  • Creating lesson plans or curriculum content. Alpha provides a complete playbook. You focus on execution and leadership instead of instructional design.
  • Overseeing budgets or recruiting staff. Finance and hiring are handled centrally. Your attention stays on campus culture and performance.
  • Serving as the content expert. This position is 80% leader and entertainer, 20% educator. You motivate, the platform teaches.

Key responsibilities

Execute Alpha's three promises: every student loves school, learns twice as fast, and masters life skills — starting from day one at a new Springfield campus.

Candidate requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Business, or related field. Master's preferred.
  • At least 7 years of experience in education, learning and development, coaching, business, or related field.

  • Deep knowledge of the Springfield, MA education landscape.
  • Experience working with youth ages 5 - 14.
  • Strong data analysis skills and experience using metrics to drive decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Passion for transforming education. Belief that the traditional system is fundamentally broken.
  • Startup mindset: thrives under pressure, adaptable in new situations, comfortable building systems from scratch.
  • Compelling and energetic speaker who commands attention from rooms full of students or staff.
  • Able to relate to K-8 students, understand their interests and culture, and serve as a positive role model.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.
