Description

  • Houston. 200,000 dollar salary, paid weekly
  • Day-one health benefits, HSA, FSA

Are you frustrated by a system that prevents you from upholding the standards Houston students need to succeed?

Alpha is opening a flagship campus in this city, and we're looking for a leader who knows Houston's education landscape inside out. You will manage a team of 15 plus Guides who coach and inspire students while our EdTech platform delivers all instruction. No traditional "teaching." High-impact action. Leadership at its core.

Your objective: guarantee that every student loves school, learns at twice the pace of conventional classrooms, and develops essential life skills. This Principal role breaks the mold. You will uphold rigorous standards, make decisions rooted in data, and establish Houston's premier school from the start.

Lead through data. Coach toward excellence. Apply now.

What you will be doing

  • Launch Alpha's flagship Houston campus: Achieve Alpha's three core promises for 100 plus students from day one through operational excellence across all functions.
  • Facilitate live workshops for K through 12 students on life skills: Conduct one-hour sessions covering public speaking, growth mindset, and feedback exchange. Execute Alpha's curriculum to help students master critical skills overlooked by traditional education while keeping the experience enjoyable.
  • Drive every student to 100 percent goal achievement: Develop customized motivational strategies for each individual. Apply data-driven methods to address resistance and sustain engagement with the Alpha platform. Success is defined by every student reaching their objectives.
  • Develop Guides through targeted coaching: Leverage quantitative and qualitative metrics to pinpoint performance shortfalls. Provide direct, actionable input during coaching and monitor progress. Maintain team accountability with logic and objectivity, not empathy that lowers standards.
  • Execute data-informed leadership across campus: Review performance in staffing, operations, parent relations, and culture. Identify challenges, perform root cause analysis, engage stakeholders, and deploy measurable solutions. Monitor outcomes and refine based on evidence.
  • Uphold uncompromising excellence: Establish and sustain Alpha's quality benchmark for both students and staff. Take difficult actions when performance is substandard. Model the standard yourself as the campus leader.

Candidate requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Business, or related field. Master's preferred.
  • At least 7 years of experience in education, learning and development, coaching, business, or related field
  • Direct experience building and managing teams of at least 15 people with full hiring and firing authority
  • Deep knowledge of the Houston or wider Texas education landscape. This insight into local student needs, community dynamics, and competitive school environment is highly valuable to Alpha's Houston launch.
  • Experience working with youth ages 5 through 14
  • Strong data analysis skills and experience using metrics to drive decision-making and continuous improvement
  • Passion for transforming education. Belief that the traditional system is fundamentally broken.
  • Startup mindset: thrives under pressure, adaptable in new situations, comfortable building systems from scratch
  • Compelling and energetic speaker who commands attention from rooms full of students or staff
  • Able to relate to K through 12 students, understand their interests and culture, serve as a positive role model
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
