Alpha is opening its flagship campus in this city, and we're seeking a leader who already knows Houston's education landscape. You'll manage 15 plus Guides who provide coaching and motivation to students while our EdTech platform delivers all curriculum content. No "teaching". All execution. Complete leadership.
Your objective: guarantee that every student enjoys school, learns at twice the speed of conventional classrooms, and develops essential life skills. This is not your typical Principal position. You'll maintain rigorous standards without compromise, base decisions on data, and create Houston's top-performing school from launch.

What you will be doing
- Open Houston's flagship Alpha campus: Execute Alpha's three core promises for 100 plus students from launch day with operational excellence in every area.
- Facilitate live workshops teaching K through 12 students life skills: Conduct compelling one-hour sessions covering public speaking, growth mindset, and feedback skills. Use Alpha's established playbook to ensure students develop competencies traditional schools overlook while keeping sessions engaging.
- Drive every student toward 100 percent goal achievement: Create personalized motivational frameworks for each individual student. Apply data-driven methods to address resistance and sustain engagement with the Alpha platform. Success requires every student reaching their established targets.
- Develop Guides through coaching: Leverage quantitative and qualitative metrics to pinpoint performance deficiencies. Provide specific, actionable direction during coaching conversations and monitor progress. Maintain team accountability through logic and objectivity, avoiding empathy that weakens standards.
- Lead campus operations using data-driven decisions: Examine performance indicators spanning staff effectiveness, operations, parent engagement, and school culture. Identify challenges, perform root cause analysis, engage stakeholders, and implement measurable interventions. Monitor each decision and refine approach based on outcomes.
- Uphold excellence without exception: Establish and sustain Alpha's quality standards for both students and staff. Execute difficult decisions when performance doesn't meet expectations. Model exemplary standards as the benchmark on your campus.
Candidate requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Business, or related field. Master's preferred.
- At least 7 years of experience in education, learning and development, coaching, business, or related field
- Direct experience building and managing teams of at least 15 people with full hiring and firing authority
- Deep knowledge of the Houston or wider Texas education landscape. This insight into local student needs, community dynamics, and competitive school environment is highly valuable to Alpha's Houston launch.
- Experience working with youth ages 5 through 14
- Strong data analysis skills and experience using metrics to drive decision-making and continuous improvement
- Passion for transforming education. Belief that the traditional system is fundamentally broken.
- Startup mindset: thrives under pressure, adaptable in new situations, comfortable building systems from scratch
- Compelling and energetic speaker who commands attention from rooms full of students or staff
- Able to relate to K through 12 students, understand their interests and culture, serve as a positive role model
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
