Are you tired of seeing Houston students fail because the current system prevents you from holding them to the standards they need?

Alpha is opening its flagship Houston campus, and we're looking for a leader who knows this city's educational landscape inside and out. You will oversee a team of 15 plus Guides whose role is to coach and inspire students, while our EdTech platform delivers all academic instruction. No traditional "teaching." High-impact leadership only.

Your objective: make sure every student enjoys coming to school, learns at double the pace of conventional classrooms, and develops essential life skills. This Principal position breaks the traditional mold. You will uphold rigorous standards, rely on data to inform every decision, and establish Houston's premier school starting on day one.

Lead through data. Coach toward excellence. Submit your application today.

What you will be doing

  • Establish Alpha's flagship Houston campus: Execute Alpha's three core commitments for 100 plus students from launch day with operational precision across all functions.
  • Facilitate interactive workshops with K through 12 students on life skills: Lead one-hour sessions covering public speaking, growth mindset, and feedback skills. Apply Alpha's structured approach to teach competencies traditional schools overlook, ensuring students develop mastery while enjoying the process.
  • Drive every student toward 100 percent goal achievement: Develop personalized motivational strategies for each individual. Apply data-informed methods to address resistance and sustain student engagement with the Alpha platform. Success is defined as every student reaching their benchmarks.
  • Develop Guides through targeted coaching: Leverage both quantitative and qualitative metrics to pinpoint performance shortfalls. Provide precise, actionable direction during coaching meetings and monitor progress. Maintain team accountability using logic and objectivity rather than empathy that undermines standards.
  • Lead campus operations through data analysis: Evaluate performance across staff effectiveness, operational systems, parent engagement, and school culture. Identify root causes, consult relevant stakeholders, implement measurable interventions, and track outcomes. Refine strategies based on evidence.
  • Maintain uncompromising standards of excellence: Establish and uphold Alpha's performance expectations for both students and staff. Make difficult decisions when results fall below standard. Model excellence as the benchmark for your entire campus.

Candidate requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Business, or a related discipline. Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in education, learning and development, coaching, business, or a related area
  • Proven track record building and leading teams of at least 15 individuals with complete hiring and termination authority
  • Extensive familiarity with the Houston or broader Texas education ecosystem. Local insight into student demographics, community context, and the competitive school market is critical for Alpha's Houston launch.
  • Hands-on experience working with children and adolescents ages 5 through 14
  • Demonstrated proficiency in data analysis and using performance metrics to inform decisions and foster continuous improvement
  • Commitment to revolutionizing education. Conviction that the traditional system is fundamentally inadequate.
  • Entrepreneurial orientation: excels under pressure, flexible in dynamic environments, confident establishing new structures from the ground up
  • Dynamic and engaging presenter capable of captivating large groups of students or staff members
  • Ability to connect with K through 12 students, grasp their perspectives and cultural context, and function as a credible role model
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States
