Alpha is opening a flagship campus in this city, and we're seeking a leader who already knows Houston's educational landscape. You will manage 15 plus Guides who mentor and inspire students while our EdTech platform delivers all instruction. No "teaching". All action. Pure leadership.
Your objective: guarantee every student enjoys school, learns at twice the pace of conventional classrooms, and develops essential life skills. This is not a conventional Principal position. You will maintain rigorous standards, make decisions grounded in data, and create Houston's premier school from the start.

What you will be doing
- Launch Houston's flagship Alpha location: Execute Alpha's three commitments to 100 plus students from the outset with operational excellence in every dimension.
- Conduct live workshops with K through 12 students teaching life skills: Lead compelling one-hour sessions covering public speaking, growth mindset, giving and receiving feedback. Apply Alpha's playbook to ensure students develop competencies traditional schools overlook while enjoying the experience.
- Drive every student toward 100 percent goal attainment: Develop personalized motivational strategies for each individual. Apply data-driven methods to address resistance and sustain engagement with the Alpha platform. Success is defined by every student reaching their objectives.
- Coach Guides to excellence: Leverage quantitative and qualitative metrics to pinpoint performance gaps. Provide precise, actionable feedback during coaching sessions and monitor progress. Hold your team accountable through logic and objectivity, not empathy that weakens standards.
- Execute data-driven campus leadership decisions: Review performance across staff, operations, parent communication, and culture. Identify challenges, perform root cause analysis, engage stakeholders, implement measurable improvements. Monitor every decision and refine based on outcomes.
- Uphold excellence without exception: Establish and sustain Alpha's quality standards for students and staff. Make difficult decisions when performance is inadequate. Model the benchmark of excellence on your campus.
Candidate requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Business, or related field. Master's preferred.
- At least 7 years of experience in education, learning and development, coaching, business, or related field
- Direct experience building and managing teams of at least 15 people with full hiring and firing authority
- Comprehensive understanding of the Houston or broader Texas education landscape. This knowledge of local student needs, community dynamics, and competitive school environment is highly valuable to Alpha's Houston launch.
- Experience working with youth ages 5 through 14
- Strong data analysis skills and experience using metrics to drive decision-making and continuous improvement
- Passion for transforming education. Belief that the traditional system is fundamentally broken.
- Startup mindset: thrives under pressure, adaptable in new situations, comfortable building systems from scratch
- Compelling and energetic speaker who commands attention from rooms full of students or staff
- Able to relate to K through 12 students, understand their interests and culture, serve as a positive role model
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
