Alpha is opening a flagship campus in this city, and we're looking for a leader who already knows Houston's educational landscape. You will manage 15 plus Guides who mentor and motivate students while our EdTech platform delivers all instruction. No traditional "teaching". Action-focused. True leadership.
Your objective: make sure every student enjoys school, learns at twice the speed of conventional classrooms, and develops essential life skills. This is not a conventional Principal position. You will uphold rigorous standards, rely on data to make decisions, and build Houston's strongest school from the start.

What you will be doing
- Launch Alpha's flagship Houston campus: Execute Alpha's three core promises for 100 plus students from day one, maintaining operational excellence in every area.
- Facilitate live workshops with K through 12 students on life skills: Lead one-hour sessions covering public speaking, growth mindset, and feedback exchange. Use Alpha's framework to help students develop skills overlooked by traditional schools while keeping sessions engaging.
- Drive every student to 100 percent goal achievement: Create personalized motivational strategies for each student. Apply data-driven methods to address resistance and sustain engagement with the Alpha platform. Success is defined by every student reaching their objectives.
- Develop Guides through coaching: Leverage quantitative and qualitative data to pinpoint performance issues. Provide precise, actionable feedback during coaching meetings and monitor progress. Maintain team accountability through logic and objectivity, not empathy that weakens standards.
- Lead campus operations with data-informed decisions: Evaluate performance in staff management, operations, parent relations, and culture. Identify issues, perform root cause analysis, engage stakeholders, and implement trackable improvements. Monitor every decision and refine based on outcomes.
- Maintain uncompromising excellence standards: Establish and uphold Alpha's quality expectations for both students and staff. Make difficult decisions when performance doesn't meet expectations. Model excellence as the benchmark for your campus.
Candidate requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Business, or related field. Master's preferred.
- At least 7 years of experience in education, learning and development, coaching, business, or related field
- Direct experience building and managing teams of at least 15 people with full hiring and firing authority
- Deep knowledge of the Houston or wider Texas education landscape. This insight into local student needs, community dynamics, and competitive school environment is highly valuable to Alpha's Houston launch.
- Experience working with youth ages 5 through 14
- Strong data analysis skills and experience using metrics to drive decision-making and continuous improvement
- Passion for transforming education. Belief that the traditional system is fundamentally broken.
- Startup mindset: thrives under pressure, adaptable in new situations, comfortable building systems from scratch
- Compelling and energetic speaker who commands attention from rooms full of students or staff
- Able to relate to K through 12 students, understand their interests and culture, serve as a positive role model
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
